Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Next week I will be releasing a short go my Mark VIII convertible with a full review in the spring. I think you might enjoy it.
I have two of these, a 1998 and a 2002, both with bucket seats and a sunroof. I'm using the 1998 as more or less my daily driver. I would much rather work on one of my Town Cars than on my Continentals - the InTech 4.6 is physically large and often I have to remove a few nearby parts when doing service or repairs. I bought the 1998 six years ago for $1,400 with 126,000 miles and I now have 192,000 miles still with the original engine and transmission. All I do is change the engine oil and filter every 2,500 to 3,000 miles and I've serviced the transmission twice and just replaced the water pump. Mostly just two sets of tires, two batteries, serpentine belt and tensioners. The only issue these have is when people neglect oil changes and that will prematurely wear out the camshaft chain tensioners and guides - which is one of the reasons I do more frequent oil changes. I've owned muscle cars and hot rods and this has ample power; when I need to pass cars on my local rural Texas two lane highways it easily gets to 95 mph to make passing quick and safe. No one collects these, which keeps the prices low and great for a daily driver or a winter beater. They are built on the same platform as the Taurus, but with different suspension. Most parts have good availability, but trim and body parts have become hard to source new and these are not common in salvage yards.
@@Thomas63r2 This is my second one. I had a 98 around 2003-06 it was a good car and I trusted it enough to sell to a friend. I bought my 2001 4 years ago and also have not had any major issues. I take mine from Milwaukee to St Louis to pick up my son. It’s 12 hours round trip and I do it in one day. The has no problem cruising at 80-85 and the bucket seats are great. I feel these are very under appreciated cars and worth getting one for a daily driver. Thanks for watching, I’ll be putting together a video for the best winter car for under 10k my 2014 Chrysler 300C V-8 AWD. Just need a good snow fall to shoot in.
If they would sell more aftermarket transmission parts i am crazy enough to make it a drag race car.😅 My 2000 is in such great condition its actually unbelievable. It only had 75,000 mils on it no issues
I use to have a black one with the felt top and had some of the best seats ever! the only unfortunate thing about mine is it had some wiring issues and ended up selling it back in 2017. Only thing is I am shocked to hear it be listed for $5k since when i bought mine it was $1500
They do have nice seats. Yes prices have gone up. I purchased mine in 2021 so there’s the Covid price increase. But 3 years in and 20,000 miles I have no complaints so this has worked out well.
@@1524mike Glad to hear it has worked out well! definitely one of my favorite cars I have owned. Always got compliments on it since it had some nice character and a car you don't see too much of nowadays
Hey mike, wonderful video, i have a question, i drive about over 50 miles a day, over an hour of driving per day, do you think this car would make a good choice? I may be looking at getting one.
Thank you very much. Yes I recommend getting one. There are a lot of nice ones still floating around. I have heard that there are transmission issues but I have never experienced this. I think the power train in general is excellent. You will not get the best gas mileage, if you get 20mpg combined, that’s about the top. Things to remember, this is a 25 year old Lincoln there will be issues. One of my back windows does not roll down and I had to replace the driver seat motor. I put 4-5k miles on mine a year, but I have no concerns taking it on a long road trip. Hope this helps you out.
Only 52k miles for $3000 sounds like a smoking deal. Do your due diligence and remember you are buying a twenty plus year old car. Things will break, I bought mine with way more miles and have had no major issues. Good luck.
That's an all season diamond 💎 on wheels. Love it. 💯
Thank you.
Hey Mike great video my friend. Very detailed.

4000lbs. may sound like a lot, but it is only 400 pounds heavier than my '05 Volvo.

I would love to see a drag racing Continental. Good for you. 👍 I’m. Sure your car is gorgeous. I just got mine detailed and ready for the winter.
