Fun Fact: In Dark Souls 2, the Greatsword always aims for the exact direction your character is moving in. The only way for the lock-on function to work as intended with this weapon is to not move at all.
It doesn't aim in the direction you're moving in. This is very important for mixups and roll-catches in PvP, as otherwise you would be at an extreme disadvantage to lighter weapons.

So a little bit of mechanical trivia for you all. With a wildly unpopular opinion, this is my favorite souls game. I don’t disagree that it’s not the best but DS2 is the most fun I’ve had playing a souls game period. It’s both incredibly easy and bullshit difficult with life gems and ADP and choosing to not use either of these. Depending on how you want to play this is either the hardest or the easiest souls game by far (sorta like Eldenring). The lore is meh, kinda just DS1 but again, nonetheless still intriguing. The music is wonderful and this is proved by the fact you’ve probably heard the majula theme at least once even if you’ve never played the game before. The bosses are great (most of the time) and are numerous providing cool weapons and difficult challenges. Anyways I should probably watch the video now 😅
This also doesn’t even mention the sheer amount of levels you can get which increase build variety greatly and the fact you can use most weapons pretty far into the game

This one brought so many memories, and specially I reflect on how I didn't really like any of the areas throughout the game LOL! Looking at it with perspective, and after having played Sekiro, Dark Souls 3 and Elden Ring after it... Thinking about the areas on Dark Souls 2, it seems to me the whole game was made on the idea of making your life myserable with traps, all enemies strategically positioned to harass, take you by surprise, or flood you with numbers, cramped areas, more traps, etc. I believe I would hate playing this game right now after having played all the others... The only trully good things I recall are the bosses, A LOT and varied and almost all of them gave you their soul to change for equipment, some of the zones for the ambiance, tone and design like the lava castle, the underground waters were the giant SIren-toad sings, the tower of the mirror knight, the dragon mountaintops, or even that underground section on Majula's well that was pitch black (although, of course, the poison-spitting traps xD)... Then the DLCs were pretty decent too and added quite a bunch of new bosses, weapons and nifty things to collect, plus some new mechanics and nice developed areas.
16:04 DS2 hitboxes in action, if you go frame by frame you can see how damage is dealt when he's not touching the blade at all. He intersects the spear in the instants leading up to death, but the moment when the damage registers is after he's clear of it. I suppose it could be bad animations instead of bad hitboxes, if it somehow stored and delayed dealing the damage from when he did connect with the spear until it no longer made sense to do so.

I can't wait to see more of these highlights, dark souls 2 is my favorite of the series but it's jank as hell
These videos genuinely make my day when Im feeling down, thank you so much RT.
19:25 rt just grabbed the branch and whimpered looking downward. Classic cartoon. I love dark souls.
Hehe you know your stuff. I think it's cool to see people share the knowledge of things they love :> Idk anything about this game, but I think it's cool. I can't play it though bc I don't have the patience to figure all that out rn. Oh and I'm broke
You remind me that I haven't finished Dark Souls 2. And now I want to go back and finish it. Thank you RT :)
2:35 Jeff Bezos looks suspiciously similar to Patches... wait! Is that the secret lore?!
I started with DS2 and seeing RT play it brings back some unwanted memories, thanks Dan
They used to call him the ADP king back in college
I love Dark Souls 2, and I'm going to enjoy these videos, especially with how the first couple minutes have been so far
Dan is a good lad because he's willing to give even Sark Douls Too a try. And probably some other stuff, too.
Nice to see a sequel (kinda) to my favorite RT video
I really hope you do DS3 at some point. Love love love the chaos you get into in these games RT
I sure hope he discovers dancer early
This is how to make soulsborne video if you aren't great at the games. Just complete fucking chaos. Love it.
This is my most played game and thanks to RT I am seeing grab attacks I didn't even know existed
I saw you when you streamed it and I've been very excited to watch this series, your souls ones are my favourite
The only dark souls game to give you a hormone slider
you have no clue how cathartic it is to watch someone who is normally gliding through games with the high strength builds, struggle the same ways I did with this game because man it is a lot more frustrating than the first
RT’s character certainly brighter than my future
I have no desire to play the Souls series, but RT doing insane shit in them that somehow works is such a TH-cam move.
I’m glad that RT summoned an ally from the great past. From once a man called _Francis of the filth_
Not sure why but I definitely needed RT DS2 gameplay today
I was so excited to see the fisty mcstrong moment in the highlights and it did not disappoint lol
Fisty McStronk will fist his way into the 2023 Highlights as well. Mark my words
YES.
Love these 'beating by stupid means' series so much.
If i was in Twitch Chat i would've told RT that ADP speeds ups item animations Edit. That dragon guy without the weapon beat the game without dying/using bonfires to get a special ring that makes your weapon invis
I wasn't expecting this. I was binge watching all the souls games videos and was hoping for more and this is just amazing
Enjoying the slow descent of “surely it can’t be THAT bad?” to “I hate this game.”
He walked towards me. Menacingly.
Thank God, the series continues.
I love DS2, jank and all. Majula is a great hub, and it's the only entry I keep replaying years later.
Same. I actually do get why everybody thinks it's straight garbage because it kind of is lmfao but hey it's the only souls game I keep returning to
Dude really just made Jack Horner his character
I discoverd you on elden ring and i watch so much of your videos, im incredibly happy to see u on a from soft game again ❤
What a pleasant surprise to see one of my favorite TH-camrs play one of my favorite games ever. (DS2 is also my favorite souls game)
my first entry in the souls games, and i 100% completed it just a few too many times. love to see it
Jack Horner is my favorite character RT has made yet
Please Dan I beg you to play Frostpunk. It would just be perfect to see you try building one of the last cities on Earth, whether you build a complete mess or actually try it would probably be one of the best Streams you ever did, just due to the amount of chaos that can be unleashed in either situation. Also now would be the perfect time because there‘s currently a free weekend on Steam for the game until the 13th of March and it‘s on a massive sale in the moment too (I would also like to apologise for any spelling mistake you encountered but as you might have guessed English is not my native language).
He really went to every single wrong place to go first lol
