    The effective, yet simplistic way of having some key essentials carried during summertime is a concept I am coming around to more and more. Shedding pocket weight and tailoring upscale items or certain extra items only to special events and/or venues has not left me feeling unarmed or majorly unequipped. I'd say your carry choices work for me too.

    I was the same way with flashlights. I’d keep one in my car next to me but I wouldn’t edc one. But I got a stream light macrostream, it’s cheap and so tiny I forget it’s there, and it’s crazy bright too. Basically like carrying a pocket knife. Now I have it with me everywhere. Highly highly recommend it if you’re looking for an light small enough to edc without noticing.

    Right there with ya, brother. I'm a retired LEO and been toting various amounts of gear off-duty. Currently, its a Sig P365XL, spare mag, Kershaw folding knife, Streamlight stylus Pro, wallet (with my retired LE creds), G-Shock, and that all for on body. In my vehicle is full med kit, another spare mag for my pistol, multi-tools, BIC lighter, axe, hammer, 25' of steel chain, and my old Sheriff traffic vest in case of an active shooter event so I'm identifiable as a good guy. Great video. SS/WY6 out there.

    Wallet, phone, firearm for me. I don’t drive as much so I don’t count keys, rarely a spare mag bc I’m not getting into firefights or live in Fallujah. I’m always in town and don’t go out at night so no carrying a flashlight , literally 24:7 emergency care places all over the area I’m at(everyone is a nurse where I live) so I don’t need to carry medical kits on me, only reason I carry a phone is so I can look up prices to see if I can get some things cheaper online or for gps otherwise I’d ditch the phone

      Knife?

    • @reynaldorivera7641
      @reynaldorivera7641 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@francismartino6890 why a knife? You don’t need a knife. I no longer live and work in the Middle East, I am not gearing up for combat every time I leave my house. There is no need to be carrying all kinds of survival equipment, medical, knives , lights or any of that. If you do that’s your choice. I live in the US where society is still functioning. So a firearm, wallet , and maybe a phone. Some people watch way to much TH-cam of channels saying you “need” this or that. Why not question where they have their training , what are their qualifications to tell people what they should be carrying.

    • @reynaldorivera7641

    Again, pretty close to my choices Tommy! My usual pistol is either a G26 or S&W 40c with the 1911 safety, typically with one reload. Knife varies, I just got several razor sharp ones from the new gun shop here in town which are also feather weight and came in at $5 each. One went to the Sgt. Major for her purse that replaced a much heavier one, another to an EMT friend up in Canada, one went to my truck bag, another is for work, and the last my EDC. As to lights, I'm a geek, as you know, but I also find myself using my very basic cell phone more often than not now. Belt varies but I like Uncle Mike's nylon one if I'm in shorts or 5-11 type pants. Mask? Nope.

    Pretty much what I carry every day. I use a sling pouch, EDC bag, man purse - whatever you want to call it. In it I keep my badge, Glock 19 in a holster I sewed into an internal pocket, daily medication planner, folding knife, Flipside wallet (which I love), a duct tape wallet I made for my job IDs because for some reason SC thinks they need to give police grossly oversized IDs that don't fit into a standard wallet, a folding knife and that's pretty much it. I'm not out looking for trouble when I'm off. And I'm also not advertising what I do for a living because I always getting pulled into some BS like a lunatic at a restaurant or stupid legal questions or weirdos wanting to fight me, etc. Always. I keep it on the DL now. No more problems since then.

    I have two primary EDC Set-ups I use regularly depending on my situation. "The Prepper," which consists of a fixed-blade work knife, my wallet, watch, Beretta 92 and a small backpack full of supplies like my medical kit and a Life-Straw and much more. This set-up is my general EDC and I do use a lot of which I carry regularly with some "Just in Case" things. However, it is bulky and you can't carry it into a movie theater. Therefore, I was forced to adopt what I call my "Minimalist" set-up for times I know I will be going somewhere that is not "Bag of Supplies Friendly" and that set-up is simply a watch, a pocket-knife, my .38, and my wallet and cellphone.
    I loved your comment about "Not needing to invade Iraq everyday." I feel that many of us get into that sort of scenario mindset when creating our EDC setups. I certainly did. I believe most of us veteran (Not Veteran as in ex-military or non-civilian) preppers have begun adopting more Minimalist set-ups as we now have the experience behind us of how often we needed to be prepared for the Zombie Apocalypse and how often having all of that gear just got in the way.

    I think a lot of people who don’t have to wear a heavy vest and belt set up all day every working day don’t get the feeling of relief when you get to take all that stuff off and get into jeans and a hoodie when it’s all over. My only concession to pocket carry slightly worky type stuff is a pocketable flashlight and a couple pairs of nitrile gloves stuffed in my back pocket and only because for medical that weighs basically nothing and I forget they are even there. Other than that I just have a basic ifak in my to and from work bag on the off chance I come across something.

    • @DarkFire515
      @DarkFire515 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      100% agree. I used to carry all sorts of gear in my to & from work pack until I realised I never used any of it. These days it's a flashlight, 3 pairs of disposable medical gloves, Israeli bandage, small vial of saline for wound cleaning and a torniquet, all because we get a fair amount of knife crime where I work. All the other kit stays in my work bag which I only ever have to carry from my desk to whatever car I sign out for the shift & back again.

    Thank you for the summer edition! I keep medical in my personal vehicle off-duty (JUST IN CASE). I'm normally not out of my vehicle too long when I'm out and about. I'm also in an extremely rural area so I can get away with open-carrying a full-size off-duty and dressing like an average joe and it doesn't raise any eye-brows but I WILL ADMIT it is much better to invest in something much less noticeable, something less heavy and cumbersome. I agree with your decision to not carry hand-cuffs off-duty as well. I'm not arresting shoplifters or on patrol off-duty but I WILL step in during a violent incident, off-duty we are still peace-keepers and peace-makers, not babysitters for non-violent scumbags.
    Free Field Training: What's your opinion on truck-guns...? I see a lot of tacticool youtubers getting their 10" Ar's with folding brace and all their extra mags and gear and I do kind of laugh to myself....
    I wouldn't ever due to the risk of it being stolen, the risk of someone getting in and finding it is far greater then the chance of having to use one in a defensive or apocalyptical event.
    To have a Truck legal AR within reaching distance for a defensive encounter means it will be in plain view.... Don't do that.
    My 2c, anyone else's?

Thats it. No spare mags. There is no reason for people to carry a tourniquet, multiple knives + another multi tool, compass, lighter etc. Im pretty sure I'm not going to be playing 1st responder or doing land nav or taking on hordes of zombies that would require more than 15 rounds in my daily travels. I'm never far from my vehicle anyways and if I was concerned I'd just put a few more supplies in the car. I love this type of video though. It's always funny to see what people say they carry when the camera is rolling. Ive met quite a few people that have done videos like this at 1 point and then you see them in town with none of it or you ask them if they are packing and they say no.

    Nice EDC dump. Im familiar with most of that gear but I want one of those core belts now.

    These Kore gun belts are all business. Strong, stiff (especially the nylon) and well made. But they also look great. The buckles are extremely strong and the fastening system is rock solid. Nothing is going to fail at a critical moment on these belts. The instructions say to cut them to length with sharp scissors. Hahahaha- you'd better have some serious scissors for that. Broke the handles off 2 pair trying that. Use a sharp utility knife and a straight edge instead instead- you'll get a nice clean cut and your spouse won't be trying to stab you with her broken scissors...

    EDC rn for me? 2023?
    Phone, Agent Baton (ASP, small baton, short) in pocket, Flip knife (10$ knife, durable), wallet & Cash depending on location, Firearm (Jframe revolver .38 special or glock 19 or other duty glock- full sized for maximum sketch).
    Phone for phone use, videos, communication
    ASP Baton (agent) for just having LTL option, window punch, general defense/poking stuff I dont wanna touch & for Part-time work where a knife isn't allowed but baton/spray is allowed.
    flip knife for knife stuff and backup defense for whatever reason
    Wallet/cash - Sometimes I dont carry cash in bad places.
    Firearm of some time, depending on location/reason.
    All this to say, I work armed security sometimes and sometimes you need just a gun, just spare mags and just a small baton/knife and your phone, wallet, jacket and clothes.
    All that is super simple. Light weight compared to "duty" gear we wear for work.

    If your already carrying a Leatherman on your belt, you might As well carry a flashlight next to it.
