    I have played baritone saxophone, and it takes an incredible amount of air to play. As you might imagine, with that much brass, it is also very heavy. Even with a neckstrap, to be able to dance like he does with it is amazing. Altissimo notes are not easy to hit on it either. Impressive musicianship.

    God damn I couldn't imagine playing a bari sax like that standing up let alone while dancing around. The air alone that that takes make me go "NOPE" let alone that fucking chromatic scale at the end with the 30 second notes. I can barely double tongue on my french horn let alone triple tongue like that.

    • @GhostHax0r
      @GhostHax0r 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Adrian Mayer You must become one with the snake-tongue technique. I play bari, I would know lol, you have to keep your tongue really close to the Reed and learn how to move it fast enough. And oncs you get used to the bari the air required is no problem lol.

      1. is probably fluttertongue (rolling an r with the tip of your tongue while playing). probably needs a lot of practice to sound that extreme though.
      2. ??? I've read in some list of extended clarinet techniques that you may place your teeth lightly on the reed to create extremely high tones, but I don't think that's what's going on here. just saying, it's the one thing that comes to my mind.

      idk if you still want to know, it is still a form of overtone, just voicing certain pitches gets different sounds. I found out how to do it by heavy experimentation with overtones. if you figure out how to play a low b flat on tenor for example, you can actuallly play a low b flat, an octave above b flat, a third above that and etc etc. pm me if you want more info

    • @astcomjakecw
      @astcomjakecw 9 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Bobik258cz i really didnt like the trumpet, too loud over the other guys and sometimes it got annoying, i mean his sax gets annoying too when its high pitched (thats part of the point) but the trumpet was always blasting high frequency, high intensity stuff. Of all of those instruments, the trumpet is the one that will give you hearing damage at ranges like that with concrete and metal walls, say good by to some of your frequencies. it might even be an insurance thing.

    • @markurban5005
      @markurban5005 9 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      +Kyle Currier I am sorry! But you do not get it. That trumpet player has chops like you would not believe: lungs, balls and talent. He could perform in front of the best of the best and they would be mesmerized. When these guys perform they hold nothing back.

    • @davischongs
      @davischongs 9 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      +BoDiggety *sigh* its pretty hard to tell, it could be both. . this is a street performance so he can do fuck all, so honestly can't judge there, but he's overdoing it to the point of pain. when he goes high, that's called the altissimo range of the saxophone, you practice for it/do it by overtones, like schneidercorn said. personally i think yazmin's wrong, multiphonics are where you "play" two notes at the same time via controlling it with your mouth shape and throat - i think he's actually just growling those upper notes.

      +Andrew Ulm If you're honestly curious, there is one thing that was handed as ancestral knowledge to me from my parents and made sure that even the wildest Goth haircuts stay up firm and deadly through nights out clubbing to this day: Simply mix water and sugar and apply said solution to your hair.
      No, it's not 'clean'. But it's cheap and its firmer then 99% of the shit you can buy in stores. You do need to take real care of your hair when using it, though. It can literally "break" if you aren't careful.
