I’m a CC fan, and I really wish the grifters would stop trying to make every foul on CC a racial or jealousy issue. She just wants to play ball, so those weirdos need to just stay out of the convo since they’re not watching, anyway, so they have no idea. Making us real fans who are watching look ridiculous and hateful.

She also didn't rewatch "the tape" of the whole game to see fouls that weren't called.
Like every game, her shots are so sloppy because she has to try and hit, check and bump someone before the shot.
But then shoots her free throws pretty accurately. So she sacrifices points she could score to be a thug and get weird sympathy likes on her social media..

    • @bakerfresh
      @bakerfresh 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@Philly73nation I'd put Angel in the latter type of category. It didn't look like her early life out her there, but a lot cam change with influence from Jr high to early college. What you see or those around you.
Angel tries to always start shiiii. That seems to bebher persona. She wants to, or is in some people's view, a Baddie. The dresses up, does the duck face style stuff, then goes out and gets dirty in the paint.
Part of the job may need it, but she seems to go out of her way to do it. I feel its like she thinks every play has to be a challenge that she won or dominated. Like can't be in a checkout line without Flippin someone shiiii or complaining so people notice.
So with that, she'll do cheap shots. Elbow or clobber people in the head. You can watch at times her wind up to commit a foul.
I'm frustrated at her mindset, because I think she IS talented. And beyond just rebounds. But she traps herself in this persona. She could still be like a Barkley, where there's a bear in a cave below, put he's still going to go for an easy score when available.
I've seen it with some of the Fever players, but Angel will have a rebound and an open shot 3 feet away from defenders and the hoop, but then go up to the defender under the basket and sometimes fail, or put a sloppy shot. Maybe trying and 1, but risking "And Zer0". She, like I've seen others is in position to get the rebound at the distance, but close it off and go right next to the other and then risk an over the back foul. I feel its unnecessary.
You dominate regularly and people will know. You need to fight back, you do. It just seems she "Always On" and that makes her only a player that is pigeon-holed into one role.
The thuggin' type of persona I see is that, combined with her interviews. No accountability, always someone to blame amd she's the victim. She'll cheer for or do the attacking unprovoked and then make up some excuse. Like a 10yo. But that victimhood mentality, at times, puts you into a permanent 10yo view of the world. Many don't get out of that.
I had a kid I helped train to be a Black Belt in TKD. He was out best at 9-10yo. Funny and cheerful. Had adopted parents that got him and his sister wjen young. They had it all with their parents. A good life.
But urge to have that persona crept in. Society or a community they wanted to be seen. Music, Rap, Gangster Violence. His slightly older sister wanted to become a baddie. Ended up throwing a glass ashtray into the Adoptive Mom's eye, breaking it. The brother then a year later, or so started Jr High. Only liked getting in school fights.
This kid was set-up to be a champion. Couod have done school sports, maybe MMA. He was small at the time, but very athletic. He bragged he wanted to go to Juvenile Detention. Finally, fought so much and suspended he got it. Then claimed when he got out, he was going back. And did that. No sports for Jr High, HS and early college age.
I only knew of which gang recently, but at least up to his d3thh was a Gangster Disciple up in WA state. A rival guy, that used to sleep with his GF ended being at the same Apt Complex. Sadly, he had a kid or 2 left behind. His sister is in prison I believe for trying extort money form a guy she was a side piece for 30k. Brought thugs with her. She did bikini batista before that, maybe some porn amd prostitution, that was prevalent in that area at the time until cracked down on by Seattle. Social Media and only fans happened. She could have easily gone that route and essentially, extorted horny dudes with the thought of a nip slip amd made way more money. I thought she was turning it around as she also had a kid.
I don't know if parents now have the kids?!? Its crazy when one wants to become something bad that they don't have to be and do it. Once you are in, you are in. In this case or anything with a moral dilemma.

It’s interesting to me how before the season started we heard from folks like Taurasi and others who said CC was going to have a learning curve and make some adjustments because she wasn’t dealing with 18 year olds. She was coming into a league of grown women. Yet it seems to this casual observer that CC has shown through her play and professionalism that she was more than ready for the WNBA but the WNBA wasn’t ready for her.

You're trying to "defend" Angel while also analyzing her incorrectly. Reese is literally talking like any other athlete and everyone is cutting up her comments and changing them to fit whatever narrative they want. She did NOT ask to be a villain she DIDN't say she wants to be a villain. She said y'all are going to label me a villain and if that is what is required for the game to continue to grow okay. She had no choice in that the media has HATED this girl since 2023. She is not jealous of Caitlin they have completely different fanbases, different playing styles, everything is different they're not the same. I think what Reese would like is the ability to be a rookie and be treated like a rookie in this league and given grace to have bad games to have good games and to not have racists in her comments all day every day. These girls have been playing against each other since high school, tried out for USA basketball at the same time they do not have to like each other but they know each other and you all are blowing it up and making things worse. If I had people attacking my character every single day and the media scrutinizing my every word there would be 2 options either I would go off on everyone and be labeled the "angry black woman" even though they already call her that and a "thug" or I would pay the fines and media would never hear from me.
I think so many critiques of Angel are pure bullshit and it literally gets worse every day. She's 22 years old, she is younger than Caitlin Clark and yet she is not treated like this young 22 year old who is just trying to fucking play basketball and learn. Give it a break!

It’s just math. 60% of people in this country are white. That’s a huge audience to pull from for viewership. She’s also from the heartland. She is straight in a league that is heavy LGBT. All that comes into play for her skyrocketing popularity.
I’m with you on the divisive media coverage, I wish they would focus more on the game on the court cause a lot of these women are great players across the league. A’ja Wilson is amazing! And this draft class is doing great things on and off the court in bringing more attention to the game.

Here's something that none of these other players have ever done... sold out a FOOTBALL STADIUM that hold 55,000 seats to watch a college basketball game in September... in IOWA. Let that one marinate for a little bit. She is drawing in more people to these games than any other player. These are facts, not myths. Clark doesn't make up victimhood stories to the media, she gets hit more times than an NFL running back going up the A Gap, and is 1st on the Fever for Points Scored (260), Assists (by 57 over second place), Steals, and 3 pointers made. She's 3rd in rebounds and blocked shots. She just had 12 rebounds as a Point Guard, something only Jason Kidd or Rod Strickland could do on a consistent basis.
As far as the sexuality conflict, Wiggins talked about how she was treated by her teammates and opposing players being a straight woman, and quit after 8 years. The bullshit is real, not fictitious. Us using their identity politics and intersectionality woke garbage against them seems perfectly legitimate to me. But, what do I know, Joe Biden thinks that people like me are the true enemy of the United States of America. 🤨

I'm also really sick of people with long term ties to the WNBA making blanket statements about Caitlin's fans. For the most part we are just normal people who have learned to love the women's game through Caitlin (plus a whole lot of little girls and their families). Dillon Brooks would be the best "like for like" example
I don't think Rodman is comparable or Draymond
Man this is such a nuanced/layered discussion
It's a racial trick bag for Caitlin because she has her talents reduced because "white" but at the same time is expected to be an avatar for anti "isms" and "phobias"because she's white
She's in a lose/lose situation and it's not even organic, all the animus is sourced from resentment and jealousy for someone making the WNBA relevant for the first time in like a quarter of a century
The issue with Angel is she's trying to cast herself as a victim of Caitlin's success and also the reason for Caitlin's success and the associated boost in popularity but both things can't be true simultaneously
Caitlin's whiteness or straightness or "prettiness"(she's not ugly but she's definitely NO you 😍) has NOTHING to do with her ability to shoot the ball same way Bron being black has nothing to do with his particular brand of greatness
It's frustrating to witness as a black man and former athlete and you're 100% correct about the media and SAS losing their collective minds over all of this
If Caitlin was black or a butch lesbian nobody would have this level of smoke for her
I think an issue for you to cover and discuss is the heterophobia and anti whiteness on display by some WNBA players
Caitlin is exposing exactly why the WNBA hasn't turned a profit ever and nobody cares about women's basketball

Personally, if AR wants or claims to be the villain. OWN it. She has the game for it. Tell everyone, “No easy baskets!”, “Come in the paint and I’m taking your head off…” 😂😂😂 ~ play the game and have a little fun with it. Ultimately, real fans will just wanna see good basketball.
I was brought here as a CC fan. If you ignore all the noise, these games are pretty fun to watch. And that “Rivalry”, only adds to the ambiance. The problem is when the drama blankets the talent. Too much of it will eventually push new and prospective fans away.

I keep thinking it will go away, but it doesn’t with the “thug” comments and anti WNBA rants stating it’s garbage except for CC … I dont know why they can’t keep that “garbage” to themselves - ya know, ironically, with the diplomacy that these SAME folks say Angel and The WNBA need to have …. Also she wasn’t “thrown into the spotlight” like you suggested but rather she ran around the court getting dusted in the championship game but once the game was mathematically over and she was carried yes carried to a victory she ran over to Caitlin to celebrate in her face and Caitlin straight up ignored her so she did it again. Fans don’t like sore winners or sore losers especially when you did more bad to your team in that instance then good. They don’t see it as marketable, so it doesn’t matter how hard I work,” said Wilson. “It doesn’t matter what we all do as Black women, we’re still going to be swept underneath the rug. Reese needs to grow up with regards the way she handles media. "Taking the high road" is exactly what she needs to learn to do. In her young career, she should learn to be above all the noise bec her great talent would be wasted on something that shouldn't affect her play. Her success (and failure) is in her hands. Not in the refs'. She should just play and shoot, with her hands instead of her mouth. With the kind of talent she has, she can doubtless do it.

AR acted like a child on and off the court and the world judged her for that. ATTITUDE is what gets you sponsors and off the court financial opportunities. Our true color surface under stress producing conditions.

Caitlin Clark seems like a genuinely kind human being.
Angel Reese and Chenedy Carter seem like violent bullies. I worry for Caitin's safety playing in a league with people like these two who are trying to hurt her in every game.

So wait, people aren't attacking Angel Reese because of her race?

my opinion, cc passing is better than her shooting skills. Her passing highlight videos are really cool to watch. When her teammates get used to her passing skills, she could have God knows how many assist a game.

@skayer - yea, IF they could ever catch the ball and make a layup.
      Basketball 101.
Blows my mind that these girls are "the best 144 players in the world", and they can't even catch a ball or make a layup.

I’m tired both conservatives and leftist made this political. People who said “she getting a lot attention because she is white” have never watched her play or don’t watch basketball.
She is simply fun to watch. She has passing ability of Steve Nash. She has deep range of Steph curry and Damian lillard.

Let’s stop making excuses for the way angel is. She put this villain on herself. She has no respect and holds no accountability for her actions. don’t blame the media. Don’t blame the fans blame her. enough with the grace period . And don’t get it mixed up. It is 100% because she’s a white. Why waste time sugar coating it. No one else, but angel needs to change their behavior.

Losers blame others, look at others try to find stains in others ways of doing..never look at themselves…they want others light to shine upon themselves and go about life frustrated and mad…
CC has all the reasons to blame her teammates for half of her turnovers or more, for missing easy layups after her assist. For not passing her the ball, for not creating good screens for her. But no, never does it..she goes shooting extra time longer workouts…she prices veterans and retirees and coaches that came before her, they threaten her, call her success white privilege, dont appreciate her value..prevent her and us from making US to the olympics, continued to cry for the attention to be on them. CC never complains, puts her head down and takes it like a women and continues to go about her business ..total class act…
