Isn't it strange that you missed the most important event of 1947, the year the British Empire lost its crown jewel. India got independence, also got Partitioned, and during the last months of 1947, the ever ongoing Kashmir conflict was also born.

I know this is a biased opinion, but i really would have liked if you mentioned King Michael of Romania as he was forced to abdicate in December 47, and he had a pretty big impact on the war, and he's also a very interesting character. Also, if you are ever thinking about making an episode about him, a very interesting fact is that he had to choose between fighting for his crown and risking his death ( and he actually refused initially), but then the communist prime minister let the young king know he has 1000 students held at gunpoint, the king then accepted defeat and our saviour was kicked out of the country like a traitor, officers escorting him were made to turn their back to him when boarding the train. One of the officers escorting him has shed tears for his king, this young man he heard on radio, spurring the nation back to life from under the hills of fascism.
My humble comment doesnt do his story justice, please, please think about telling his story. It's only a few years since he died, there is a lot of material for research in both english and romanian.
please like this comment if youre interested in one of the channels making an episode about King Michael of Romania

Exporting grain to czechoslovakia was a scam. Grain went to ussr first and came back. I know from a guy who was loading it and forgotten a jacket in a grain carriage. Found the jacket in a carriage coming back. Grain had to be reloaded due to different gauges of the railway. On another topic I highly recommend you watch some ushanka show, especially recent one about tito and stalin. There is some surprising evidence I never knew and I bet you don't know

No mention of Chuck Yeager breaking the sound barrier in 1947, or what it represented? That achievement was the first major technical breakthrough of the Cold War and was part of the technical rivalry between East and West centered around weapons development. Planes, missiles and bombs were at the heart of the Cold War and each side kept trying to one-up the other. The sound barrier was broken in Oct-1947 but kept secret until Jun-1948 in order to get maximum lead time over the Russians in terms of applying that knowledge to fighter planes and bombers.

Interesting to categorise the partition of Palestine as an issue between Jews and Muslims. My understanding was, similar to Lebanon and Syria, the Palestinian people included other faiths including Islam, Christianity and others. It is an important distinction, as are ethnic, cultural and historical factors. This issue is far too complex to be treated so lackadaisically.

I was sort of expecting much more than what you have shared here, primarily because it says "World" in the title. The entire ideological shift that began with the Bandung conference and the idea of a multi-polar world, stroke the sentiments around decolonization and would later lead to the reason why we had more bombs dropped in Indo-China in the following decade than by the allied armies combined in World war II. But then summarising the world in 24 minutes will always be a challenge.

Interesting that Major League Baseball didn't actually have any written rules against black players. Instead, there was a handshake agreement among the owners that they wouldn't have blacks on their teams. When Kennesaw Mountain Landis, the baseball commissioner, died in 1944, Branch Rickey saw his opportunity to improve the Dodgers by developing black players. Ironically, Jackie Robinson breaking the color barrier led to an economic decline among blacks in general. The old Negro Leagues were a thriving business that employed lots of black people, players, stadium workers, food service workers, etc. After 1947 those businesses declined because they lost interest in those teams, everyone wanted to see Jackie Robinson with the Dodgers.

It's really shocking that you missed the partition of British India and the independence of India and Pakistan and the violence that followed immediately after partition... Really strange...

Don’t spew communist propaganda David. The AK-47 wasn’t “invented” by Kalashnikov, it was a fairly close copy of a StG44, a German assault rifle captured by the Soviets during WWII. That it had been designed by Kalashnikov, a Soviet tank crewman while recovering from combat wounds was a propaganda ploy.
