the sound of that diesel brings me back. love the sound. it sounds really happy. got to love those 100% mechanical setups. never any pixies to wrangle. survive through those EMPs.
It sounds like a tractor! She's got a lot of torque! Yes, yes she does.Well she is a diesel, a real diesel, manual Bosch pump, conservative turbo. Good job guys, neat little fat 'n' wide!
All those old school 1980s chevy pick ups and K5 Blazers are my favorite. I'd love to find a solid clean body K5 with a removable top and put a bad ass bug block in it. My dad used to have a 1972 K5 Blazer with a 6 inch suspension lift and 3 inch body lift with a 396 and 44 inch tires. The pictures and stories from when I was younger made me fall in Love with them.
Out around mexico in the mountain areas in ranches you see these old trucks a lot and in really good conditions those old farmers out there keep them in good conditions.
I wonder what the fuel cost is. What are MPG? Drop a g56, nv5600, or nv4500 it would drive more like a truck than a tractor. Although the sm465 is a tank of a transmission. It sounds like maybe the clutch is warm out. It’s hard with the microphone.
Did the axles have to be swapped as well? Just curious about a swap on a Dodge 150 ... 5.2 is like 525lbs and the 4bt i think is around 750? Would you need to swap the axles for the extra 200+ pounds?
Mmm... Cummins! That's a pretty cool little truck. I know way more about these engines than I ever expected to from researching the Magnum V10. You could get an NV4500 and swap it to a 5 speed pretty easily. They are pricey transmissions, but an early 90s Chevy turbo diesel in a junkyard might be the easiest way to find all the parts you'd want. Dang that thing is a noisy 4 cylinder though!
Good clean square body! The 4bt is an excellent choice for the 1/2 ton and that SM465 is good especially it already came on the back end out of the bread truck. Those GM adapter plates are hard to find and a lot of $.
4BT's are cool, lots of torque for sure. Muncie back there is probably a good move if you don't need overdrive that little cummins will punish weak transmissions quickly. Turned up its as bad ass as its bigger brother, most of the tricks apply.
I knew a kid in school at wyotech who had the same exact truck. Lost control going down the Laramie pass in a storm one night and ground the entire passenger side off the truck after he slid into the rock wall
I wouldn't go over 3-1/2 inch exhaust it's only a 4bt. U might loose to much torque and that's no fun. Anyone else see the puff puff ooos. Engine could use a rebuild, might help the noise lvl alittle. Truck looks good too.
4bts are awesome motors Samsung before they turned into Volvo used them in all their big machines excavators backhoes everything and I my memory serves correct Volvo uses the 4bt now they're great motors you can't beat them they're turkey and don't hardly ever break down
JUST FINISH THE 7.3 VAN
why don't you go do it. seeing your so kean to see it done

That is very cool, i dont care for to much power, my 1964 scout 80 goes 0-60 in half an hour, i was thinking of putting a 4bt in it
It sounds like a tractor! She's got a lot of torque! Yes, yes she does.Well she is a diesel, a real diesel, manual Bosch pump, conservative turbo. Good job guys, neat little fat 'n' wide!
I can smell the interior.
You and me both friend
So I was watching this with closed captioning. When the 4bt was started the closed captioning that it was “applause” 😂😂😂
Tell me that man is rocking a glorious mullet!

Good luck, I have been trying to find one like my moms and can't find any
I swapped a 4BT into my 79 k 10 short bed in 2005. I love it.
One day i will finish my k10. Im only 8 yrs into it now😂😂
Muncie 4 speeds are awesome. So low geard. Would work great for a Cummins
Dude Trevor, when you build the van, 6BT it! Would love to see a build with a Cummins!
Out around mexico in the mountain areas in ranches you see these old trucks a lot and in really good conditions those old farmers out there keep them in good conditions.
All right your brother has all the cool trucks The k10 Love The four-door Dodge That’s gonna be bad ass as well
Imagine the om606 out of the merc in the van with a 6 speed, far fetched I know but would be the coolest thing ever.
I have the w210 e300td with the om606 it's pretty dope
Wow! 4 cylinder Cummins i like it. Only if the noise was a little less like a tractor. I never knew these existed.
That’s the best part if you love tractors as much as me 🙂
And plus the four BT is great to save weight if you don't have a 3/4 or a 1 ton pickup to put a 12 valve coming in
Turbodiesel y calles Rústicas me enloquece,más esas camionetas legendarias de los 76-88... toda una historia verdaderamente Rugiente

It sounds like maybe the clutch is warm out. It’s hard with the microphone.
It sounds like the injector pump is failing, also could be a bad pulley.

Was the swap hard to do. I have a k20
Altezza tail lights usually look awful with the typical cars and ways people put them on, but they actually suit that truck pretty well
such a good looking truck. that's it i'm moving out of this salty rust land to where i can get some pristine beauties

That truck is gorgeous
Yeah the 4bt is a dream swap for sure.... I wanted to do a my Ranger
That truck definitely needs a different suspension.

Update on this rig? What was your estimated fuel mileage on the highway in this kickass little carnivore???
That's badass I wish you swapped something into something old school
What would be the mpg on something like this? It looks and sounds sick
Like 30
Did you make your own motor mounts or what did you use
What gears are you runing?
Whats the mpg?
I knew a kid in school at wyotech who had the same exact truck. Lost control going down the Laramie pass in a storm one night and ground the entire passenger side off the truck after he slid into the rock wall
love the sound of the Cummins missing my old 12v now love you videos
you could of put a 24va in there
Wow that's fantastic, fires right up looks great
Top speed ? What gears
4bt swap a Toyota pickup
Those hoods buckle because people slam it closed with poor hinges, cool truck.
At what temperature does your 4bt work?
With a sm465 its best to float shift. Just use the clutch for taking off/stopping
Yep, drive it like a big truck!
Hell yeah buy one Trevor
Is he going to paint the truck
The 4bt looks almost tiny in the engine bay
Every engine looks small in a squarebody bay. I have a 454 in mine and there is still a lot of space
I want to build a 2004 four-door S10 dually with a 4bt. To haul a Civic.
Any idea on what kind of mpg it’s getting?
Low 20s to mid 20s I’d imagine
Would u happen to know what pilot bearing I need I can’t find one thanks
Trevor swap a 12v into your 6.0 can haul the family and a trailer cross country, and still have all the bells and whistles of a ford
You can do that with a 6.0 no need to swap
Oddly enough this truck was for sale on Craigslist last month.
You sure that those are 35’s? Look like 33’s from here
Great video you should build one similar
Looks like your buddy changed the front grill
I'm swapping a 6bt into my 77 k10 this summer
Plan on cutting the firewall
@@RINEYMOTORSPORTS yeeep. XD hope he did a great job
0:24 "just spit on it" lmao
3:22 TH-cam subtitles say "applause". Lol 5:08 "music"

Thing is absolutely sweet
WOW. You can hardly hear it.
Lol
4bts are awesome motors Samsung before they turned into Volvo used them in all their big machines excavators backhoes everything and I my memory serves correct Volvo uses the 4bt now they're great motors you can't beat them they're turkey and don't hardly ever break down

That's awesome! Was gonna 4bt swap my 80 Datsun pickup. Maybe I'll 4bt swap my expedition instead? Haha who knows maybe 6.0.
I wouldn't bother 4bt swapping an expedition
@@erikcapozzi3425 why not?
@@warrenmcelroy4718its an expedition to begin with...
@@erikcapozzi3425 I’m aware, but what’s your point? Anything with a Cummins is BadAss
Aaaaaaah the wind noise!! ☹️
A muncie? Lol thats awesome. Turns out its an m22 rock crusher. Probably not haha but either way a cool truck.
too rich mixture + squeaky belt
Need a furry cat mic to block the wind noise.
I love it!!

That would sound good in my truck
RedneckMan454🤣
Sounds like an old VW

Short wheel base. Say it with me. SWB means, Short. Wheel. Base.

Him pug1 same
Get the loom off the down pipe shit man but killer truck sounds f in great
Sell that 4bt and get a 6bt and p pump swap it. Mild 500hp build =)
Its cool either way but a 6bt in a k5 blazer haunts my dreams.
Air filter is garbage, that engine is already dusted.
If it was ment to be fast it wouldn't be shaped like a brick.
Wow! Your brother's wiring is awful
Those taillights 🤦🤦🤦
The wind noise makes this video unwatchable.
Like is cool vehicle buy old chevy
