I have OKW 18650 and OKW HOG. Love both. Got the HOG as a primary light for my SWAT kit since we sometimes run with K9 and a light with a lot of throw and candela would be good for target identification (at least that was my thinking.) I got my OKW 18650 as a back up light for patrol. It quickly became my primary because it simply just out preforms my duty streamlight. It penetrates tint very well, and really helps with using light offensively. I’ll switch to my streamlight whenever I deem a situation to be “safe” so I’m not blinding citizens while interacting with them, or on vehicle searches. I have to say though, since getting the HOG OKW, I’m really thinking it would fit the roll of a primary patrol light much better. I might end up switching the lights and carrying the HOG on patrol. I’d be putting it on my carrier since I do have Mille and a thyrim switch back. I have the holster for the HOG but honestly, I don’t really like it and which they would make something a little more form fitted for it.
Interesting. Cris and I found it to be an awkward size for patrol I think if it was a little bigger size wise it fit in our sap pockets or back pocket better. So far 4 outta 5 cops we work with stopped carrying it on patrol just cuz of the small and weird size Still a good light output forsure
Do you guys have outer carriers? We are wearing outer carriers with molle where I work. I clip the HOG to the best with the thyrim switch back. I haven’t noticed any issues with comfort, although I will say I don’t think it’s super secure on the vest like that. On my SWAT gear, I ended up getting the holster you can get with it and putting that on my belt in place of a rifle mag. Works well there and haven’t had an issue with retention. I think was liking the ability to punch through tint when I said my last comment. It works really well on that aspect. On call-outs, we aren’t stopping cars all that much. I gotta say though, it works well on a k-9 track too. I think I’m just looking for an excuse to buy more lights lol
Are you guys gonna do more vids about lights. I’d love to see a hog, MCH DUTY comparison. I’m really liking the versatility the duty offers. HOG has its good thing though too lol

That’s funny, I have the complete opposite opinion. I used to have the regular PLH-V2 but lost it like 4 months ago on duty. I loved that light but my gripe with it was the same one you have with the HOG. I have no space on my belt to put a holster on it, so it would go in my front left pocket and it was hard to get to because it was so tiny. We drive ford explorers at work, the duty light they give us coincidentally sits perfectly in the door handle for easy access. The smaller modlite is too small to fit there Now with the HOG, it just goes in my sap pocket and fits perfectly, and it also fits in the door handle too. If I’m driving around hunting I can put it under my thigh too. It fits under my armpit too to keep both hands free.
I own the 18650 PLHv2 and recently got the Hog. Like my partners in the video, I didn't think the Hog was necessary when my friends let me compare the beam with my 18650 indoors. But once I saw and felt the performance difference outdoors and into vehicles, I immediately appreciated the extra concentration of light that the Hog has. It also has better battery life and clips into sap pocket since I use the Thyrm Switchback. My 18650 PLHv2 is now an off duty light.
🤔 I have the okw 18650 and okw hog and the hog is noticeably stronger at distance. I don’t think candela scales like people think it does. I use it on duty and the thing busts through tint great and is awesome at lighting up alley ways from the road.

1000 lumens makes it hard to read small writing

Umbrella lighting…. Or do what I do, I carry an okw daily, and have a wurkkos ts10 for admin lighting.

For patrol, would you guys recommend the Cloud MCH-HC or the Modlite HOG/18650 with PLH head?
Absolutely can’t go wrong with either of those setups. It’s preference outta those two
I use both on my belt - both are good- I favor the HC a little more

The okw hog was also disappointing I have both heads that run the 18650 and to me they are brighter then the okw hog head but ill still f**k with it.
