That was the final straw to Brees being a Saint, if even, because really, he was still coming to New Orleans.
As a Falcons fan, I knew Brees signing there would change the Saints forever. I liked him in San Diego and couldn’t believe Miami passed him up (I understand the injuries) but he was solid

Boy am I happy that the folks in Miami went a different way because as a Bills fan having to deal with Brady every year for the past 20 years has been annoying and debilitating. The thought of having to deal with Brees and Brady 4 times a year would’ve been very hard to overcome as a fan base known for being 110% supportive no matter what. It would’ve really tested our faith and fandom. Sure it would’ve made for an interesting AFC East for football in general which I’d appreciate, but it would’ve been a nightmare for us I’m sure. But who knows what would’ve really happened and how different the landscape of the league would’ve looked if Brees ended up in Miami.
