This movie is a lot better than a lot of people give it credit for. The lack of Michael Myers is actually an improvement. Especially considering what we'd get later on.

"Irish version of the Nightmare before Christmas plot", dude the Irish ***INVENTED*** Trick or Treat. That's why Silver Shamrock knew how to market it so well.
I'm such a huge John Carpenter fan. This is actually one of my favorites just because of how ominous and desolate it makes you feel. Also it has another legendary Carpenter synth soundtrack to go with it.
That other Snob was clearly from an alternate dimension that passed through "The Twilight Zone." He had previously been exposed to "The Stuff," and it altered his body chemistry!
I had the idea with this movie that the people behind it, the writers, owners or whatever, wanted to make the Halloween franchise a bit more like Tales from the Crypt. More horror anthology than just more stories about Michael Myers, each movie having its own theme, monster/villain.
Did anyone else get actual real ads after the movie ad? That transition was smooth af I ain't even mad, in fact I'm impressed and let the ads play out of respect lol
17:30 That scene may be minor, but it's one of the most historical scenes in horror history. It contains BOTH Halloween villains in the same shot, Michael Myers (Dick Warlock on the left), and Conal Cochran.
I think the idea of going in a different direction for the Halloween series is rather interesting and had potential. I’ve honestly never seen any of the other movies in the series other than the fifth and sixth movies. The idea of there being other murders on Halloween itself by different killers is fun and there is so much you could do with such a simple concept.
I agree with Brad, this was the best sequel compared to the later entries where Myers returns (minus H20 and the 2018 film to me at least) They should have said 'screw you haters, we're going to make another one!" because I absolutely love the anthology idea
Yeah, it’s pretty good. I think people being more used to anthology horror series like American Horror Story or The Haunting (on Netflix) might have something to do with them being more accepting of something different.
Fun fact: the Silver Shamrock jingle was featured in the song "Starlight" from Helloween's debut album. It was later adapted into a fan chant at Helloween concerts.
I like to think Michael Myers does exist in the "Halloween III" timeline and the "Halloween" movies were produced by John Milton two decades before he exploited Maureen Prescott's murder with the "Stab" franchise. Because why not?
So in the world of Halloween III, The first two would be like "based on a true story" horror movies. That actually sounds pretty plausible, considering how many Amityville horror movies have been made.
I rented this movie as a kid, I was really drawn in by the cover art, and sorely disappointed by no Michael Myers. Then I watched it, and thought it was super cool!
I'm so happy this movie finally made it onto the official Cinema Snob list. Trying to marathon this series of reviews is so awkward when the third movie is done in a completely different style with a technically different character. At last! The Snob Halloween playlist can be complete!
Finally this movie is getting the praise it deserves. Now if only someone would review Wes Craven's 'Shocker' and praise it just as much I'd be really happy.
I loved this movie when I was a kid. Even now, it's my favorite Halloween because it was so different from the norm. So bad it's good and above all, it's enjoyable.
I love that The Snob finally gave this a proper review instead of the 80's Dan review I can't find. I get he was trying to promote the show and character at the time, but still feels good to have a Snob review of this movie.
This is the best Halloween movie without Michael Myers in it. There. I said it. And am I the only one who thinks this is the ONE Halloween movie that would be served well by a remake? As much as I've grown to appreciate this movie, it's clear that it could've used a couple rewrites to fix problems like the fact that the movie seems to pretend that time zones don't exist. (Think about it. It's 9 PM in New York while it's 6 PM in California. By the time the climax of the film gets going, countless kids in the Eastern, Central, and Mountain time zones are already dead.) My favorite shot in the movie is at the end of the trick-or-treating montage, when the camera pans from the kids in the hills to the town below as the Silver Shamrock jingle fades and the dark of night descends. Such an eerie, menacing shot representing the evil that is about to befall the world. Dean Cundey is still the man. A brilliant little touch of set design? The monitors and control consoles that kill the robots and Cochran at the end are arranged in a circle like Stonehenge. The trio of Silver Shamrock masks also reminds me of the trio of Happy Meal Boo Buckets that McDonald's sold a few years later. The only differences? McDonald's used a ghost instead of a skull, and opted to kill millions of kids slowly through obesity, heart disease, and diabetes. Also, if you don't wanna hunt eBay for an expensive Silver Shamrock mask, you can buy one from Trick Or Treat Studios for about 50 bucks.
I love this film. I bought the paperback when I saw it for sale at a local store. Loved the artwork and that is what caught my attention. I read the novel before seeing the film (it is pretty close to the film). Back then my folks had a videodisc player (VCRs were coming a little later) and we rented a bunch of videodiscs each week at a nearby local town. I saw Halloween 3 the first time on videodisc. I just love the storyline, the unique kills and effects, the characters in the movie, and of course the amazing score by Carpenter and Howarth. The ending of the film is great too. It is in my top 3 favorite horror films along with Phantasm and Tourist Trap.
@@crispywan It ends similar to the movie for the most part. I think there is a line at the end that says something like a wailing cry was heard all over the land.
I love this movie. "Trick 'r Treat" is an awesome anthology Halloween movie all set on the same night and universe! Wouldn't the "giveaway" broadcast give you a seizure?
Ironically, this was the first Halloween movie I saw - I never realised they were "supposed" to be about Michael Myers and wondered why there weren't more Silver Shamrocks in the others
After years of seeing that "HALLOWEEN III" poster on the wall behind you, our eyeballs & ear holes are finally treated to a glorious Cinema Snob review of the actual celluloid! ☘ My "Silver Shamrock" cult and I are eternally grateful! ☘
Samhain means Summer's end in Gaelic, long before the demon called consumerism had consumed the holiday, it used to be a holiday centered around honoring the dead and remember our deceased loved ones that has gone long before us. So there is a deep spiritual aspect to Halloween especially when it comes to the Samhain roots. After death comes new life, and it's part of nature's cycle. That is my perspective and why I love Samhain so much, the human body has limits, but the spirit still carries on and goes beyond. After death comes New Life. Have a blessed Samhain and happy Halloween everyone. 🎃🍂🍁💀🌑🍭🍬
A "Halloween III" review by the Cinema Snob: the first great thing to come out of 2020. It took over 10 months, but it was well worth the wait. Now all we need is a re-upload of your original "Halloween II" review. 2020 needs more Ben Tramer jokes!
I honestly think this movie was ahead of its time. I feel like in recent years anthology films have become more popular, as well as horror movies that push the envelope in terms of format and ideas becoming more and more common. I really wish the movies had gone down this route of every movie having a different story. Just think of all the wildly different stories you can come up with to do with Halloween. Surely that’s far more interesting than another movie of just a guy in a mask killing people? Shame that chance was squandered.
The Silver Shamrock jingle is the reason I never watched this movie a second time. Even after 16 years, I remember nothing about the movie itself, but I can still hear the jingle. It haunts me.
I was 15 when this came out. We were sitting in the theater pissed and not trying to give it a chance. I am glad it's finally being seen as the great film it is. It deserved better than it got on its release by my generation
I really wish they'd have followed the theme it would have introduced with different characters/stories each year. A Halloween Anthology could have given us some cool stories, especially back in the 80s.
Maybe they would have been kinder if they hadn't called it "Halloween 3"; Halloween 2 might have been able to get away with shifting the focus, but not after two movies about the same thing.
Halloween III was a largely dismissed movie, but one with great concepts, striking imagery, and one of the bleakest gut-punch endings ever delivered. The blend of traditional folk mythology with an almost cyberpunk view of technology was way ahead of its time. Also the concept of an anthology series, as proposed by Carpenter & co., could very well have been amazing, and certainly better than some of the Michael Myers films that followed.
This movie is so underrated and It was so ahead of it's time. It has robot transhumanism, the computer age, surveillance tech, satanic ritual practice, corporate conspiracy, archaeological sites and equatorial energy, etc. Not too mention Cochrane is identical to Lord Jacob Rothschild which is so perfect considering. All with John Carpenter's dope synths in the background. I love this movie
I like this movie, and Tom Atkins is the man. I’ll watch every Halloween season. The intro is classic. I think the lack of Michael Myers is too much for some people to wrap their heads around... maybe they should try wrapping something around their heads instead.. like a Silver Shamrock mask. Ha
I never did get why people didn't like this movie outside of Michael Meyers not being in it. I think it's a pretty interesting plot, if a bit mad-cap. I think that it's kind of campy at times but I always figured that was part of the point. If one was able to just take this movie and give it a different name wouldn't be surprised if it would've been far more well-liked back in its original release.
I watched this film once back in the early 2000's when I was like 16, and I hated it.But like 6 minutes into this review, I kinda wanna re-watch it. I'll probably end up liking it, there are a lot of movies like that. I'm also sure that there are worse movies than this that I still enjoy, lol.
I used to be one of the people who refused to watch this movie because it had no Myers in it. I for whatever reason decided to pick up a copy in the early 2000s and ended up loving it. Oh, it is full of holes and silly at times, but it also captures the Halloween mood really well, and you cant help but enjoy Conal Cochran as the villain!
Great film. I love it when an old movie that was hated and forgotten back in the day manages to find an audience and become a cult favorite years later! Oh, the script is really bad with a complete lack of characterization, yet somehow the simplicity works in regard to Conal Cochran himself. Dan O'Herlihey is amazing in the role, camping it up and having fun. His speech on the history of Halloween is bone chilling and the best moment of any Halloween themed film. He really does sell the film. As for Michael Myers, yes, the whole series fell short of the classic original, yes, even Halloween II. I will say, though, that I really was impressed with 2018's Halloween and that it was easily the best Myers sequel of them all. And by the way, it is Quatermass, not Quartermass. No R. It is not pronounced like a quarter of change.
A horror movie franchise where each movie tells a different story actually sounds like a good idea. It'll be like American Horror Story, except it won't drag in the middle or come up with an ending at the very last minute.
I really appreciate the editing like it's a grindhouse film trailer for your next review. also appreciate the other fun edits like the double feature, and the coffee murder mascot.
This movie totally fits into what Carpenter wanted: Sometimes bad stuff happens to innocent people for no reason besides evil

many good ideas were rejected in this franchise sadly
This is one of my favorite movies and my favorite Halloween franchise movie
Still my favorite out of all the Halloween series. Wish they would've kept the anthology going.
#3 is at least my second favorite because there are many aspects I enjoy more than any of the other films. It's a gem to me.
Oh yeah the 1980s when a car in the movies could explode for no reason whatsoever.
The 1980s, the Ford Pinto of decades :D
They used to be built of 100% pure explodium; just like this baby right here... *slaps roof of car*
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!
And in real life for _almost_ no reason whatsoever.
Some guy *sneezes* and a car across the street explodes. *KABOOM!!!* (Repeat explosion about 19 times, from just as many angles.) 😀
I still wish they'd do anthology Halloween movies again. While I loved the recent continuation, I'd like to see more stuff in the vein of Halloween 3.
Be a perfect time to do it now, since Mikey got Steve Buscemi’d from Fargo in Ends 🧐
Finally!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’m so glad to get this one!! The series is complete! Now if only we could keep a Halloween II up
I'm so glad there's plenty of people out there that appreciate this move. I absolutely love it!
I remember seeing this as a kid and being really freaked out by it. Good times.
Now all we need is Halloween II put back up.
Edit: It's happened!
Hell yeah!!! He's finally covering this one!!!
i always use the silver shamrock theme as my ringtone during october
I love this film, such a an amazing film. One of my go to horror movies for every Halloween
For anyone who cares, my ranking of the Halloween series:
- Halloween
- Halloween II
- Halloween III
- Halloween 4
- Halloween H20
- Halloween 2018
- Halloween 5
- Halloween Kills
- Halloween 2007
- Halloween 6
- Halloween Resurrection
- Halloween II 2009
One of my favorite Halloween movies, I watch this every year.
With a great ending I still enjoy.
6 More Days To Halloween
I agree with Brad, this was the best sequel compared to the later entries where Myers returns (minus H20 and the 2018 film to me at least) They should have said 'screw you haters, we're going to make another one!" because I absolutely love the anthology idea
Second best film in the entire franchise
Love this film with its dark foreboding atmosphere and bleak outcome.
When I was younger, I really hated this movie because it lacked Michael Myers, but over the years Ive come around and liked it because it's different
Love this movie.
Agreed. We never gave it a chance
Any connection to the Willy Wonka door song in the 2005 film. They sound so similar. 🧐
7 more days till cinema cinema cinema 7 more days until cinema, DAVID AR WHITE
Hey Brad, I just wanted to say thanks for all the years of great work making us laugh. And I'm glad that your doing so well after all this time.🤘
Every time Le Snob says "Stonehenge" I hear the song by Spinal Tap in my head.
You should re-upload halloween 2 review! You owe it the memory of one Benjamin Tramer to keep his memory alive. #justiceforBenTramer
Finally this movie is getting the praise it deserves. Now if only someone would review Wes Craven's 'Shocker' and praise it just as much I'd be really happy.
I mean at least that movie helped advance the career of that guy from _The X-Files._
I loved this movie when I was a kid. Even now, it's my favorite Halloween because it was so different from the norm. So bad it's good and above all, it's enjoyable.
Yes! Now I can finally binge watch all the Halloween reviews in ord-
(sees that TH-cam took down Halloween 2's review)
...oh God damn it.
I love that The Snob finally gave this a proper review instead of the 80's Dan review I can't find. I get he was trying to promote the show and character at the time, but still feels good to have a Snob review of this movie.
At least! Been waiting for this for years ! Can’t wait !
By the time the climax of the film gets going, countless kids in the Eastern, Central, and Mountain time zones are already dead.)
My favorite shot in the movie is at the end of the trick-or-treating montage, when the camera pans from the kids in the hills to the town below as the Silver Shamrock jingle fades and the dark of night descends.
How does the paperback end...does it say what happened after the " Big Giveaway"?
@@crispywan It ends similar to the movie for the most part. I think there is a line at the end that says something like a wailing cry was heard all over the land.
I love this movie. "Trick 'r Treat" is an awesome anthology Halloween movie all set on the same night and universe! Wouldn't the "giveaway" broadcast give you a seizure?
happy to hear you get all nostalgic and please have a happy halloween
The music is some good the best! So Carpenter!
This is actually my third favourite Halloween film in the franchise.
That jingle is so catchy.
So excited you are doing this movie! An awesome standalone film!!
To this day, I agree that Conal Cochran is the unrevealed actual name of the Old Man of OCP.
This is still one of my favorite 80's movies that came out in my childhood!!!
This was the first Halloween movie that I seen. It's still my favorite of all the Halloween movies
Halloween iii is a movie that I believe would've worked REALLY well if the fans and the critics been more kinder to it back in 1982.

Nearly all of Carpenter's movies got shat on. No wonder he's a bitter old bastard, lol.
@@Emulous79 At least nearly everything he's done is seen as classic now.
I love the ending. U really feel tom atkins dread when he's on the phone and he yells Stop!!!!!!
Nice to see this movie getting the appreciation it deserves the last few years.
Always loved this movie . Nice to see a lot of people are coming around on this gem !
The series Britannia fits into the back story of this movie
That Spandau Ballet joke had me dying.😂
Great video! This a favorite of mine. Such a unique movie in so many ways. And one great for Halloween season!
Night of the Demons? Oh, Cinema Snob's review on that is gonna be good.
I watched this film once back in the early 2000's when I was like 16, and I hated it.But like 6 minutes into this review, I kinda wanna re-watch it. I'll probably end up liking it, there are a lot of movies like that. I'm also sure that there are worse movies than this that I still enjoy, lol.
oddly enough, it grows on you.
I agree, I suspect it will have aged like wine for my current conspiracy nut self.
If it was Halloween II, it would have succeeded as an anthology. It's actually my favorite Halloween movie despite its flaws.
Great show Brad! 🎃
Watched it on Halloween and it was awsome I can't that song out of my head ! Great video lol!
