    getting back into collecting after a 30 year 'break' lol. What I see is a lot of the same stuff between these sets. You basically want and auto or a patch, and the companies have set it up so that you are buying in the gamble that you will get one. Nothing wrong with that i suppose. I'll just buy series 1-2 and maybe some metal, collect the sets and enjoy putting the collection together. If i want to make money i'll do it at my job. that's just me. I like this video tho, very helpful..

    This was a really good vid! I agree with most of this list. The one product I strongly disagree with you is on the Metal Universe. I get that other sports love PMG's but the hockey collector market is different and will say no to this product in the long run, which will sap its value. Metal is way too expensive of a box to issue sticker autos, which will destroy the long term value. Also the design of Metal isn't for everyone and seems like more of a niche product. Black Diamond is trash and is not worth investing in! OPC Platinum, Series One and Two, Clear Cut Series, The Cup are the products with the absolute best long term value. These four products give you an array of either the Young Guns, numbered, HARD signed, patch RC cards, which will go up in value over time.

      I disagree on Metal, but I think we're always going to butt heads on that. We'll agree to disagree! Hahaha. Agree with the rest!

    Hey, just thought about Credentials, where does that rank? I’m thinking upper middle?

      @MainelyHockeyCards  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If it continues to be a product, I’d put it right smack in the middle.

    Great video. I think you were spot on with the rankings. Personally, I love OPC platinum and collect it every year. It checks all the boxes: Hard-signed autos, shiny numbered cards, inserts, affordability. It's really fun to open.

    I think of all the hockey cards I've seen Stature has to be the best looking overall imo. I love the QC that UD put into them. Take a look at the edges on them as usually they are absolutely perfect. Ya it's a tad pricey for only 8 cards but that's why I recommend buying just the singles that you really want. :)

    O Pee Chee Platinum should be much lower IMO. They had HORRIBLE production issues ( rounded corners, nicks in the borders, marks on the cards and tonnes of curved cards ) and I didn't even get a single complete base/marquee rookies set out of 6 Hobby boxes and 20 blaster boxes purchased. Not to mention how watered down it is with 16 or 17 parallel/insert sets and it's only going to get worse in 21 22 as they are adding 3 more parallel/insert sets. Again, just my opinion.

      Hey David! Thank you! Welcome to the channel! If you're looking for boxes, 2021-22 Upper Deck Series 1 is coming out pretty soon and that's going to be all the rage until other products start to release. I did just post a video about it with a breakdown of all 50 young guns in that release, and their investment potentials. Cheers

    I agree that high end cards of high end players hold value, but I think better investments happen in the $1 to $10 range. Example: Allure and OPC Platinum parallels of high end players like Matthew Barzal, Elias Pettersson and Jack Hughes. If those rookie parallels go from $4 to $10 to $20, that's a bigger gain than a Cup Ovechkin non-rookie going from $300 to $400.

    • @MainelyHockeyCards
      @MainelyHockeyCards  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a bigger gain percentage-wise, but not in overall 'value.' I get what you're saying, and that's a large part of my business model, flipping smaller end cards that haven't attracted the dollars that they should. However, I guess it all just depends on risk tolerance and if you're willing to go fully into a smaller investment to make the returns that a bigger investment could make. I.e. Flipping a Cup Ovechkin for $100 profit, or flipping 10 Barzal low-end rookies for a $10 profit each. I would, personally, rather be flipping higher end cards and doing the work for just one sale, but I wouldn't be opposed to flipping tons of smaller cards either, because that's what I've always done, until recent memory.

    I concur with most of your rankings but I would rank MVP much higher bc of the number of autos in a hobby box. I just ripped a box each of 17-18 & 18-19 & got 14, yes that’s right, 14 autos with a numbered 17-18 black script version of Eberle out of 25. Enjoyed it thoroughly & might even get another box for $60

      Hey there! I hate to be the one to break it to you but I don’t want you to be misled-those are facsimile autographs and not real autographs. Those are silver/super scripts. The autographs fall, usually, one per case.

    • @GoldenSlumber474
      @GoldenSlumber474 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MainelyHockeyCards Thanks for the clarification but the Eberle black script looks legit. I still like the cards better than UD’s other products. This is why I lean toward vintage cards. When you get a rookie card, you know it.

      but most people absolutely HATE the puzzle back inserts (i have OCD and staring at a card of someone's leg drives me nuts) i throw them out that's how much i hate that insert. Thankfully, MVP FINALLY omitted the puzzle backs in 21/22
