Love the contrast between how the Skeksis and the Mystics die. The Skeksis are afraid of death, do what they can to live forever, are cruel and twisted and rotten and evil, thus they die in ugly fashion. The Mystics accept death, are perfectly willing to die, are kind and gentle and peaceful and good, thus their ends are peaceful and beautiful.
One of my favorite movies of all time. Please bring back the Age of Resistance series or make a second movie and a third one if possible. Probably James Cameron can help with the funding?
Just about from 2:08, as the now-deceased Skeksis emperor's body crumbles, I mean, that is proper nightmare fuel, even any kid can cry frightened tears while shielding behind a pillow.
Skekso said he will never be dust but here he is becoming dust and he was like a crack junkie when he was addicted to darkening which is why he died and his voice got fucked up
@@Heydodoakskdkdjf well in the original cut, the skeksis didn't speak, they just growled in a horrifically animalistic fashion, the original cut (work print cut) of this scene is available on TH-cam and it's terrifying, the sounds they make is enough to rattle you to your very core.
I guess it would make sense that the Emperor of the Skeksis would die at the same time as the Wisest of the Mystics as it was shown in the movie that both of them are linked to each other like when Jen stabbed the Chamberlain in the hand with the shard of the Crystal in the right hand and one of the Mystics had a wound in the exact same spot and the same with the Slave Master as he fell into that firey pit below the Dark Crystal and one of the Mystics disappeared at the same time.
There was a deleted funeral scene. It involved pyrotechnics. Anyway, in case anyone forgot how they chose their new emperor, I can sum up the next scene in one word; "Haakskeka".
The reason why so many are disturbed by this scene is due to the way the Emperor’s death feels realistic. The laborer breathing, the sudden, last breath, and the final collapse. All of that is commonly witnessed upon a person’s death. The choice - I believe - was deliberate by Jim Henson so as to convey the disturbing, visceral reality of death; a juxtaposition to the death of the Mystic, which is the more idealistic form of death. Add on top of that the crumbling away of his body from living for so long and it presents an ominous future for ourselves if we choose such a path.
Jim Henson just died when this movie came out. That so sad after that, Jim Henson did all: "The Dark Crystal." And: The Dark Crystal Age of Resistance.

It's a wonder how the skeksis and mystics are so beautifully designed. Truly captivating
Skesis are the elites oligarchy, mystics are the healers close to nature and balance. Jim Hensen is/was always will be genius ❤️

A movie sequel to the tv show be good and can be on Garthim wars and take place before this movie

R.I.P. Jim Henson
This scene majorly freaked me out as a kid. It still does, really. I love it!
This scene scared me as a kid. To this day at 30 it still doesn't sit right. 😁
This is how Henry Kissinger died when the Adrenochrome ran out
based alert😎
There should have been more fantasy films made by the Hensons. The critics can't grasp the true art and craftmanship going into them.
Even sci-fi too like farscape
10/10 nightmare fuel perfection. Renew Age of Resistance.

I love this movie
believe it or not this scene is actually more terrifying in the original cut and that's saying something considering what we're seeing now
I know this comment is a year old lol, but do you mind sharing what was in the original cut? Would love to know!

Despite how evil the Emperor was, knowing the last sounds he heard was the whimper definitely has to be the worst way to go
Jim said so much with this scene, eternal power corrupts eternally..

The Skeksis look like they could be a henchman of a *Power Rangers* villain.
How did you guys get such good footage of the US senate and congress?

Maybe a sequel movie to the show that takes before the movie as Garthim wars be nice
Mark Hamill as skektek
You have now witnessed the passing of Diane Feinstein.
