I literally gasped for air when you showed the scared man running from Soul of Zendikar. I never would have known Vincent Proce's hard work and commitment to art if it wasn't for this. Absolutely great videos and editing. Great cheers from Brazil!!!
I was thinking about Magic and all the art for cards I’ve done over the years. This video by @RhysticStudies about that very art still brings a tear to my eye. And it always will. ~Vincent Proce 04/25/2024
This is my favorite type of art in Magic. My favorite moments are when I play a card i've played 50 times before and then look down only to realize there is something in the card I had never seen before, or that I had been viewing the shapes and colors of the card and not the actual image. It's a really special moment and happens all the time. Thankfully, I will never get to the end of the list.
Welp, it's time for me to break out those old Vincent Proce cards I have in my collection and check out the art for details that I totally had no clue about until you mentioned. This video blew my mind. I had always admired Proce's work on cards from a distance. Thanks for bringing him to our attention, Sam.
As a family member of Vincent, this is an excellent analysis on his work, from personal experience with me, talking with him about his artwork and seeing him draw stuff, he takes his time to make everything as intricate as possible, diligence is his craft
so glad you took the time to spotlight Proce, who in just a few years has risen to the top of my list of favorite artists, MTG and otherwise. he truly deserves the highest recognition for his craft
Magic should pay you for the editing work on these videos alone, the way you bring these cards to life and highlight each intrincate bit of the artwork makes me wish to buy a pack for the first time in years.

With every new set I become more and more fan of Proce's art! Thanks For the video!
my favorite part about magic has always been the art and flavor text. so many little worlds realized so well with only a sentence or two and a piece of art. amazing.
This is soooooo good! The quality of your videos is ridiculously high, every episode of The Magic Art is a wonderful journey. Thank you for putting in so much effort.
I never knew how many things Proce did to shape my perception of so many places! The dude is prolific and absolutely overwhelming in the amount of detail he packs in! Vincent has to really love what he does.
Vincent has been my favourite magic artist since i started playing in 2009. Island 237 with the floating bowls is my favourite piece ever and ive been hunting down as many signed cards as possible
I really love this series. I new MTG had some amazing art but it's so easy to ignore it; this series really opens a new world to me that I would have sadly missed otherwise.
Watched this with my magic deck next to me. I got them out to look through and the first card (blighted cataract) was a Vincent Prose. Thanks for making these videos recognizing the genius and craftsmanship many of these magic artists possess; it adds another layer of depth, intrigue, and excitement to the game.
I always look forward to your Artist Study videos. I really enjoy them as an artist myself and just love how you delve deeper into the art than just what we see in the normal card sized image...It really puts a lot of the pieces into a new perspective that I can't help but be in awe of.
There is another artwork that connects to Grim Flayer, namely being that of Murderer's Axe. Could be coincidende, but the gloves seem to be the same in addition to the flavor text.
MagicManSam, you are one of my favorite members of the MtG community. Your content is always top notch and relevant to my interests. Not only do I enjoy playing magic, but I also collect cards for their art and flavor/story. I have binders with worthless cards sorted by the stories they tell and how they are linked. Thanks for making such wonderful video and keep it coming.
Yassssssss Sam! I've been waiting for this and Raymond Swanland Art videos forever so excited you've done this! Also I would like to see a Yeong Hao Han video too! So excited to watch! Keep making great content.
Raymond Swanland, my favorite artist, do a video, JUST DO IT!! when that video goes live in the near future (june), I will become a patreon with a pledge of $20 until end of this year (at least)... mark my words... greatings from switzerland
This was a great video, after watching I had to check if you had done one these for Terese Nielsen(one of favourite MTG artists) and you had! After watching it the decision was final ,you have a new subscriber.I hope to see more of these videos.
I thought I really had an eye for detail even when it came to magic art, but this video made me realize so much about so many pieces I thought were already familiar to me, incredible! I can say that going into this video, my fav magic piece of his was Latch Seeker. I feel like all my comments on these videos show my Innistrad bias lol, but theres something about Latch Seeker that feels so crisp! I also love writhing township because when I look at it I feel like I can hear the wretched, roiling screaming I know it probably makes when it moves, kind of like That One Scene in the movie Nope, and two newer innistrad favs he's done are Infestation expert and cruel witness. Cruel Witness I feel like may be the one piece of his that actually works better when seen small though, simply for the horror of not being able to make all the details out of what you're looking at (you just know its looking back at you). All of this being said, I absolutely need to spend more time with all his pieces now- I had never even noticed the bodies in Grim Backwoods!
Vincent was the MTG artist that first got me to really pay attention to the art of the Cards. Before Vincent it was just random Pictures after Vincent i now consider every image on MTG cards as what it is and thats art
My favourite of Vincent's MTG work would have to be Decision Paralysis, the twisting architecture, intricate details and ethereal flames of it draw me in and make me feel almost as lost as those poor Initiates within it must feel.
Hey, if you read this comment, have you ever considered doing a video like this on Jaime Jones? I’ve noticed that he gets commissioned to do big creatures frequently, including gods/deities/deity like creatures. Progenitus, The Ur-Dragon, Zacama, Heliod, Primeval Protector, alt art Griselbrand, etc. I’d like to see Eric Deschamps as well.
Cool channel man . I like seeing people still appreciate art . I do hyper realistic style paintings and I keep thinking art is dead .... but thanks for this

Have you ever thought doing one of these for RKpost?
This series never gets old
Every instalment is a breath of fresh air and visual delight
as someone who started playing in the late 90s, I can say that the art has gotten just more and more amazing over the years.
I literally gasped for air when you showed the scared man running from Soul of Zendikar. I never would have known Vincent Proce's hard work and commitment to art if it wasn't for this. Absolutely great videos and editing. Great cheers from Brazil!!!
That guy gave me an all-new appreciation for that piece.

Grim Backwoods was already one of my favorite lands and you just added a new level to it. As always, Thank you, Sam.
that card is great! it wasn't on my radar until this video, actually.
damn, so many of these details I've never noticed in these cards.
Welp, it's time for me to break out those old Vincent Proce cards I have in my collection and check out the art for details that I totally had no clue about until you mentioned.

Phenomenal. I always learn new stuff from each of your video. Thank you, Sam. Your work is appreciated.

these series have opened my eyes to the amazing art that I take for granted in my hands
in a way, it's done the same for me.
@@RhysticStudies an artist is created by his art just as much as the artist creates the art
You are a true scholar. Thank you
That was simply riveting I'm glad he gave you permission to showcase him.
This is one of my favourite series on youtube! :) keep up the great work Sam
great to hear!
This just appeared in my suggested feed, and in that split second before I realized this wasn't a brand new one I cried out in joy
so glad you took the time to spotlight Proce, who in just a few years has risen to the top of my list of favorite artists, MTG and otherwise. he truly deserves the highest recognition for his craft

Good video. I really like your style: elegant, minimalist, delicate without being snobby. Very well done.
I actually met you at a card shop in Arvada filming once. Very glad to see you've become so successful on the platform!
my favorite part about magic has always been the art and flavor text. so many little worlds realized so well with only a sentence or two and a piece of art. amazing.

This is one of the best Magic video series on this site, thank you!
I really love this series. I new MTG had some amazing art but it's so easy to ignore it; this series really opens a new world to me that I would have sadly missed otherwise.
Once again you have deepened my appreciation for magic artists.
0:40 was an amazing example of truly great editing, it really sets a tone of revelation to mysteries that we were not yet aware. Beautifully done.
Once again an absolutely wonderful video. You do an admirable job highlighting these artists that so clearly deserve it.
My favorite artist!
awesome. he's a great choice!
this makes me want to start a Magic collection (aside from just playing my favorite colors).
New favorite artists! Amazing skill and dedication!
I always look forward to your Artist Study videos.
I really enjoy them as an artist myself and just love how you delve deeper into the art than just what we see in the normal card sized image...It really puts a lot of the pieces into a new perspective that I can't help but be in awe of.
I seriously wish you could make these more often. I'm addicted! Keep working your magic, Sam :)
I was so confused when i realised that Grim Flayer's cape is made of fucking GLOVES.
TIL (!!!)
does that mean he uses that axe to... slice hands? o.o Thats rude..
Maybe . . . he hunted down all of the pianists and surgeons of Innistrad - that fiend !
There is another artwork that connects to Grim Flayer, namely being that of Murderer's Axe.
Could be coincidende, but the gloves seem to be the same in addition to the flavor text.
cool
man some of my favorite arts are from this guy and i didn't even notice all these things. amazing as always!
plz keep doing these. your eloquence is astounding for a mtg channel.
stay tuned.

Thanks for making such wonderful video and keep it coming.
I used to play Magic over 20 years ago… glad to see the game is still alive !
I love this video. Your channel has made me look harder at MTG in general and this video is perhaps the summation of your style. Thanks for making it.

All of what you just said is why I cherish the remake of Resident Evil 1 so much.

Good job on the videos, I enjoy watching your attention on the intricate details of the artist you study, at the same time learning a lot from you.

My favorite artist in MTG currently!

Thank you idubbbz, wonderful video.
Vincent was the MTG artist that first got me to really pay attention to the art of the Cards. Before Vincent it was just random Pictures after Vincent i now consider every image on MTG cards as what it is and thats art
Hanweir is closer to "Hon-weer" than "hand-wire" in pronunciation. Great video as usual, Sam!
I was wondering about that one. thanks for the heads up.
No worries, it's a very minor nitpick in a fantastic video. Thank you so much for doing these art studies!
I see you, struggler, who came here for art similar to his. I’m glad Proce can continue the style Miura popularized.
All of your videos are amazing. Fantastic Channel
Watching you from Brazil
All in all your videos are art within themselves.
My favourite of Vincent's MTG work would have to be Decision Paralysis, the twisting architecture, intricate details and ethereal flames of it draw me in and make me feel almost as lost as those poor Initiates within it must feel.
One of my personal favorites is Raymond Swanland. And it's not just because I have deep feelings for Thraximundar.
Another great vid appreciating mtg art.
