    If no one else says, man I REALLY appreciate this in-depth behind the scenes because it really teaches small productions another way of approaching accomplishing a vision. We all pretty much shoot solo, but with a team, its easier and feels much more professional. The artist is at ease, the director is at ease, and the crew is at ease. Everyone does their job and goes home happy to know that you all accomplished what you set out to do. Big salute to you and everything you give to us.

    Im actually amazed that you were able to do something of this magnitude only giving the producer $5000 to work with in LA. You paid his fee, makeup, art, models, car rental and studio rental... Your dude is a wizard and must be crazy connected. Keep him on your speed dial. Y'all did an amazing job for this project and i think you made some very smart decisions regarding what to do with that budget. Thank you for this video. It was. A very valuable lesson in the difference a good producer can make on set.

    This video was mind blowing brother. It's good to hear how you cut your own pay back just to make sure that your client got the best look possible. I know that sometimes your personal profit margin is based off of your own resources and you took what you knew and outsourced what you didn't know.
    I really love your content man. Please make more videos showcasing the business side of the industry. A lot of us want to know how you prospect/qualify clients, how you follow up with them and how you get to where you can work on a $10k video shoot. That's one of my goals for next year and I'd love to catch your perspective.

    Thank you for sharing! I double majored in Theatre and Business in college and one of my favorite things was building sets, lighting, sound and all the behind the stage stuff and stage management/Directing. I always love when someone can share the tips for different ideas and show different ways to utilize space and props. A lot of very awesome things going on here. Again thank you for sharing even down to the cost etc. Having a reliable producer always helps too. I’ve been following Chris Cash for a little over two years now and I’m always interested to see what projects he’s working on. Great work to the both of you!

As I’m looking to work my way up to collaborating with bigger crews and budgets it’s great to see what you’re doing on your projects. Interesting to hear your budgeting priorities and I totally agree - set design and lighting will always be more important than a camera package, to a certain degree of course. You’ve got serious skills and passion and I’m looking forward to watching you continue to move up in the industry in your area!

    I like getting a nice check, but I hate being a one man band. I’m really big on things being organized, so I’d rather take less money for a less stressful and better project outcome. You did really well with the budget. I took some notes. Paying and feeding a crew is expensive but it has to be done.

  • @busyworksbeats
    @busyworksbeats 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I shot many music videos this year off my own budget and I can tell you, for the artist, the $ investment can be insane. Venue is usually the greatest cost along with travel and lodging. Finding the talent in new cities can be a challenge. But the worst part is everyone trying to milk the budget and ask for crazy amounts just because someone seems to have money. My advice for filmmakers trying to secure more business and deals is to set a flat rate (regardless of someone’s status in life) or a system which increases rate by a scale based on the amount of exposure. Because there is nothing worse than changing your fee just because someone seems affluent but you deliver the same product. That’s like a girl making you work extra hard to get a date with her but then goes to another guy and throws herself at him on site. Not ragging on you, you actually did it fairly. These were my lessons in coordinating video as a producer and artist. Im glad you secured that deal. For everyone else reading however, anything over $5k is serious money. So treat it accordingly. It’s so easy to burn a bridge without knowing and wondering why you never got hired back. And most the time the money is coming out of the artists pocket, not a banks pocket, so it intensifies the investment. If you really want to stand out, creative video fx are the new wave. Where are you from?

      Unknown you should do some research. Look on the web. Why do u need a budget camera? Is it for shooting pictures like portraits or for video recording. You can get an entry level dslr under $500-$1200. Get the best you can afford, is what I would suggest if your on a budget. Also know the reasons to why you want a budget camera, and look for cameras that can give you the features you need. They have DX crop sensors and FX full frame sensors. Some have the ability to take pictures and record video in low light situations. You have to do some research and find the best one that suits your needs.

      Really? That’s wild. When I was in film school my professor stressed it cuz they’ll shut your shit down in a heart beat if they want. It’s pretty wack. It’s pretty much them imposing a tax but calling it a permit. Smh. Cash grabbing for sure.

    I understand what you going through with the process making video or film project. I am going through the same boat. Thank you for making the behind the scene. You have done an amazing job for this project and you are right about building a relationship with your connection and don't burn bridges with the ones who help you out. And including budgeting and Video set planning which is very important. It is a team effort doing a film. Thank God that I've take the time to see your topic or thumbnail where I randomly check out your video. I would like to see in the future that if we can work together.

    Awesome in debt behind the scenes from beginning to end. A lot of information in detail. Is definitely cool that you shared the budget, what was even more incredible is that the artist definitely stepped up and give you feedback most artists don't do that. I also agree those tube lights were incredible, this is another example on how you can do a lot with crops once you light them up. That's one big reason why a lot of people don't get phenomenal shots or even interesting Concepts it's because they don't think out of the box. I build a chroma key video room setup in my basement, the problem I'm always having is that my ceiling is too low so therefore my overhead lighting is always a big issue. But after watching this I was approaching it all wrong I could have thought about less chroma key and more of a visual setup with props and furniture to utilize the space even more. This video is very motivational great job YC

    Hell no I'm not surprised actually you underestimate your value. Because you in a different area. But I have no doubt did you will be one of the highest paid video production companies around because of your talent. Just dont box yourself in doing only music videos. Advertising is where the bag is. Budget is ridiculous. With minimal editing. Do this! Divide your pay by the hours you spent shooting & editing. Then tell us how much you made per hour?

    • @oohstocks

    • @bstuartTI
      @bstuartTI 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@oohstocks after editing I think it's going to be much lower. Full day filming, and probably at least another full day editing. I would guess closer to 50$/hr. But then you have in factor in time lost due to travel, that could have been spent on other work. So it's technically lower, just not measurable.
