the thing is, we as in the users are interested or (MIGHT BE INTERESTED) in seeing how that ecoflow river 3 plus works for the UPS feature in some computers, i would like to see that....
I'm using a River 3 as a UPS for my internet and some other little things using about 57 watts total. It works fine, except for one problem. In order to do a firmware update, it turns off the A.C. output. It does this *before* it downloads the update. Oh well. Still beats lead acid!
The UPS industry needs serious distruption. But im not sure this is it. 1. The other companies insure your products that are plugged in. Do they pay out often IDK. 2. This isn't surge protection rated. (At least in the info I could find) I do love they finally added the data cable to these powerstations
Ecoflow limits XT60 plugs to 8A at 12v if you want to input anything of higher amperage or voltage you need to use an XT60i plug. This is so the power station doesn't overload the average 10A car circuit.
I use my River 3 as a UPS for my router, (3) Blink camera hubs and 2 Pi servers for home monitoring and vpn. The whole setup uses 29w which fits the River 3 perfectly. I get about 7-8 hours of backup power on UPS. When I first hooked up the unit, I powered the Pi servers through the USB-C port, thinking this would be more efficient. The problem was that the pass-through charging did not take into account the DC ports and the battery would cycle between my set limits continuously. The app would show 26w of AC charging and 29w of discharge. THIS IS NOT GOOD! I then took the servers off the DC and used the ac power supplies. The River 3 then correctly charged at the usage level (29w) without cycling. Success!
Leoch had a 2000wh power station that worked as an ups. It was 550$ till Biden announced tariffs on solar equipment. If you can find them . They’re 700$. Note: the solar never worked, was wired backwards at factory . But as ups pass through and wall charge. Was awesome.
So how stable is it as A UPS? If I plug a 3D printer into it ac Turn on the AC with the button. Can I disable the AC turn on button so that it can't be turned off with the button? and then plug it in, and then it'll just act as AUPS of the power I ever goes out.
@solarguy so for example i charge it using 100 watts solar panel , will it charge by 50 on power station and on battery at the same time ? or it will charge the power station first or battery first ?
EcoFlow is American, yes? We don't see them here at all, would be a viable alternative to other Chinese brands if only a network of resellers could help to distribute the units internationally?
@@theq-ster6981 I have the delta 2, and for power cut when it happens, it dosen't affect our laptop/modem/router plugged to it. Like its fast enough that usualy we notice theres a power shortage by looking out the window or walking in another room and noticing thing are off. Might not be a ''true UPS'' but its kinda good enough.
Yep, Delta 3 Plus has 1000WH battery and the 1800W AC inverter as well, for $650. River 3 Plus is typically $209 + the extra battery, and is 600W of AC, for a little less ($508) for the 300WH smaller add on battery, and who knows how much for the 600WH larger battery.. my point of getting the base model is to backup my NAS and Network equipment, which draws 339Watts, until my generator starts.. so their is no interruption…. The run time is not a concern. Also the UPS USB integration with the NAS will get an orderly shutdown, if the generator fails..
ATTENTION FOR ECOFLOW!!! It should be 3 USB-C ports, 30w, 60w, and 100w. 30w people can use with the USB-A adapter if they need USB-A for some reason 👍 This is the right design which one will work for you for the next 10 years! ❤️ I'm an electronic engineer and computer technician and I know what I'm talking about 👍
@@solarguy I only ask because I have an extra rigid 370 watt panel from the ENTIRE PALLET signature solar made be buy haha. They are something like 46-48 volts.
So you are on everyone's channel repeating this none sense. There are far more usb A cords in use that usab c cords so come back in 3 years then repeat that statement.
@SAMMIEJONESJUNIOR right ! I really love this model, and I want to EcoFlow to see it and do something! I already send email to them too! In 2 -3 years USB-A will disappear from electronics and you will have this 'NEW" model with 2 USB-A... Do u really need them???? I need 3 USB-C ports and I will use adapters to USB-A if I need it!

@@leokolev in a perfect world I agree. I usually use USB C to USB C when I can. Nonetheless majority of people probably still have USB A to USB C cords and that's why they added them. Again I agree they should provide a configuration like you said. As for using a Hub? You don't have to use it but until that perfect world exists and someone need extra ports you can use it in a pinch. That's great you have a engineering background. That still doesn't mean a mere consumer like myself can't speculate why they still include the outdated USB A.
i cant find it twith the extra battery? i want to know if its cheaper than just going for a mega 1 from oupes. which has same features but more capacity.
The link in the description to EcoFlow's website has the extra battery. I'm not sure when they will have it on amazon. Here is the link again: bit.ly/4icVdaC

NAS stands for Network Attached Storage not Network Area Server.
Thanks for catching that!

Super. Na początku pomyślałem, że to radio z zegarkiem 😊. Ecoflow robi coraz ładniejsze sprzęty. Pozdrawiam.
I appreciate all the test that you conducted and you helped give me all the information I needed. Good job and happy holidays.
Thank you for your kind words! Let me know if you have more questions (post them as new comments if you can).
What about inverter drain? How much does it consume on its own? Can you turn AC outlet on and leave it for 10 hours to measure % drain per hour?

Your video was super informative and very helpful, thank you!
Thank you for watching!
Would you use this as a replacement for your traditional UPS? As a small power station? Or Both?
The only thing these are missing is trickle charging via the use sb c port.
There is one thing you got wrong, it uses XT60I connector. Other than that great video,
You’re wrong, he mentioned that.
@Imjustsaying1966 could be wrong but I think he said xt60 not xt601 not that there is much of a difference, but supposedly it charges faster
@ not a difference worth noting, or correcting someone. Just prevents you from plugging in backwards.

I looked through the APP and I don't see a way to disable the physical AC button. It would be a stable UPS though.
i have a question sir , can i charge the river 3 plus while the battery expansion is attached?
Yes, when the extra battery is attached it acts like one power station
@solarguy so for example i charge it using 100 watts solar panel , will it charge by 50 on power station and on battery at the same time ? or it will charge the power station first or battery first ?
What is the ac discharge rate on idle?
Can you replace the batteries? They need a wall bracket or wall bracket arms.
No, they aren't easily replaceable. The LFP cells are rated for 3,000 cycles so very long lasting. A cycle is a full drain and recharge.

EF is a Chinese company. They have a global market. What country are you in?
What's the IP rating?
I’ll be buying one to replace POS Bluetti EB3A. I’ll be glad to tell why the Bluetti is junk.
23 pounds with the extended battery?!

Yes, you are correct. Under 55v is ok but you won’t get more input power than about 220w.
