I love that when she was asked if she had turned any of these price gougers in, she answered with nothing relating to the question instead speaking about finding people homes in her pajamas 😂😂😂
I’ll answer for her. “No we didn’t turn any of them because nothing will be done”
We live in a world fueled by money and greed. and now the rich get a taste of what the poor have to deal with. Kick em when they are down!

That is exactly right. Prop 33 did not pass in California. There is nothing in the books legally that can prevent a landlord from setting the rent on an empty unit. THE CITY, COUNTY AND STATE KNOW THIS. They are trying to scare homeowners, and landlords into thinking that does not exist. Here in Los Angeles City, where rent is stabilized, one of my tenants left earlier this year. My attorney told me I could rent it at any price I wanted. I gave it some thought, added a laundry area, updated the kitchen, and floors, added new windows, updated the insulation, and siding and added a mini split. I set the rent from $1235 to $3180. I furnished it, installed a new stove, frig, washer, and dryer. And believe me, it's renting just fine.

@ it’s gross the manipulation tactics they play in the media. But, this is the American way! 😂 glad to see they haven’t tricked you into submission.

I'm confused; California did not pass Prop 33. So, if a home is listed for rent, but not currently renting to anyone, I understand a landlord can rethink and set the rent to pretty much any rent they want, even beyond market rate.
The "no more than 10%, is only on current tenants. If a unit becomes open, and available, there is no one in the state, county or city that can tell a landlord how much they can price their empty unit. So, if now if you have a listing on Zillow for $1,000 (based on supply and demand), and now that supply dropped and demand increased, the landlord raises his rental price on an empty unit to $2,000, that is breaking the law?

It's called free-market capitalism. It's called the LAW OF SUPPLY & DEMAND.
