I have amazing healthcare, I pay 60$ a week, the people crying about healthcare also are the ones that haven’t had a job for 30 years have lived off the government for that entire time😂
Insurance companies need to be restricted from raising prices until this horrific disaster is rectified. This is probably why home owners are increasing rent knowing that their costs are going to skyrocket within the next year!
i actually feel even more sorry for poor people whose rent contract is about to expire/will expire within the next 6-8months. and i mean actual poorer/younger people, those without a big job and a million dollar piece of land in palisades
Price fixing is the opposite side of the spectrum and just as harmful. When demand increases, prices increase. Consumers won’t pay more than what it is worth to said consumer.
For eight thousand dollars; I would have bought a few large tents for me and my family to live in and get a membership in the local YMCA to keep up my hygiene standards .
10%? That isn't true because here in Nevada, they doubled the rents here, because the government doesn't regulate them, and they continue to just avoid doing it.
You wouldn’t be saying that if you had some ambition and a business of your own, but since you don’t, you’re just gonna sit there and complain and whine
0:00 uh what? it was for the state/counties to make sure emergency situations like these don't arise in the first place. if requests rise, prices go up? where are we in middle school? leave the state if you can't afford an area, that's how to soft-control migration and expansion.
They could’ve cared less about us here in florida; it’s a shame that the people with it all get everything regarding the unrelenting support of the public amongst the continual media coverage to further their recovery efforts but for the ones with little to nothing we don’t even get the platforming to be heard…
They are about to snatch up these burnt up properties because these homeowners either have no fire insurance, no insurance, or will have to cover the difference to build back their homes. That little executive order Newsome did is only for three months, after that, it will be a free for all.
The biggest fear is really the end of single family housing and the land-grab by real estate developers creating more luxury condos no one can afford and then turning them into AirBNBs.
The reason why the most expensive housing is on each coast of the US is because every time a disaster hits them the insurance companies partnered with the government make millions off of people's lives who are destroyed to make millions.
Insurance rates are going to go up exponentially for landlords, if they're even able to get any private insurer to continue coverage. So who's to say increasing prices by more than 10% is price gouging? These same government officials that caused these issues through price caps on insurance increases are taking the moral high ground to deflect decades of incompetence. This is going to backfire, reducing the amount of available rentals as landlords decide to either sell the property or revert to short term rentals. There are 50,000 rentals available aross Los Angeles available at pre-fire prices. Why the moral outrage for these NIMBY deca-millionaires that benefited for decades from low development in these exclusive enclaves, because they are unwilling to rent anywhere except for Beverly Hills. I feel terrible for the average families that lost their homes. But take this as a sign from god to move your family to a state with a sensible gornment, reasonable costs of living, and low threat of natural disaster.
Price gouging is in Orange County right now due to the fire. I called 311 and they said it’s only for LA county. However, if half of LA is burned people are relocating to surrounding counties duh! But we need to report Orange County landlords increasing rent over 50% at the time of the disaster
Most American's wealth is in their home, once that home burns to the ground they are penniless, but still have a mortgage to pay. Sell the land and use that money to pay down the mortgage.
These landlords are well aware there is a $10,000 fine raising rents more than 10% after these California fires. It's a public record to know what the rent was before the fires. Now, it's a matter of renters reporting each one of these landlords to who? Police? Better Business Bureau? City officials? There should be an ongoing briefing to the public that this law is being enforced. With so much news coverage on people who lost everything encountering all the landlords breaking this penal code, it seems there are no actual repercussions at all.
Can someone explain how the looters are able to infiltrate these neighborhoods and pick through these people's belongings like vultures... but the homeowners in the business owners aren't allowed to go into these neighborhoods... Make it make sense 🤔🧐
You reap what you sow! Maybe consider this when you move out of California to less wealthy areas and pay hundreds of thousands of dollars over market price!
This is so disgusting. If I had an Airbnb I would let an evacuee family or two families stay there for free. All I would ask is that they tidy up when they leave. That’s BS that people are even charging them! Let alone price gouging. Please open your hearts and your homes and work as a community. Maybe you will need their help one day!
This protection against price gouging of goods and real estate is only in effect for 30 days after the fires. Please write or call Governor Newsom and tell him to extend PC 396 from 30 days to one year. There's no way people who have lost their homes can find something in 30 days and if they owners are price gouging now, when they could be charged with a crime, just imagine what they'll raise the rents to on day 31. Also, please look up the petition online called "Extend Price Gouging Protection from 30 Days to One Year for Los Angeles County " and read and sign if you agree.
Ezek segítették anyagilag a kampányát!
Of course people are going to raise the rents. Supply and demand, the only way to increase rentals is to allow the market to raise rents causing more people to put their homes up for rent. The government can’t enforce what home owners can charge. The term landlord is not a negative, just means person invested their own time and money on real estate ventures vs stocks/gold/commodities/bitcoin/401k etc.
gouging? Define gouging? isn't that how business works in So CAL/LA? Supply and demand, its that simple. So I have something to sell at this price, or maybe a tiny bit more, or just a little more...ok you know I'm still getting offers so just a little more... Every business is gouging its customer base in LA lol. Businesses "gouge" as much as they can if its still selling lol. So they will take the max cap of 10% increase as thats the legal limit in this case. Over priced anyways, all these houses in So CAL/LA are made of plywood, IKEA particle board lol. Subject to mold, easy to burn in a fire. Too bad they don't build brick/mortar/concrete homes
So you haven’t learned your lesson of staying in a fire and earthquake prone area and willing to pay premium to stay there and risk it all again? Got it.
Personally - I would take a hit, mourn my loss, sell my land & move somewhere else. California housing is price gouging even without disasters.
it's standard supply/demand. ??
Absolutely 💯
They are preying on these fire victims. It's not right. Rents are sky high as it is.
Supply and demand economics shouldn't be allowed for landlords right? Only for big corporations.

Price gougjing truly American......applies to their society healthhcare, insurance, everything
absolutely
Wait don't blame Americans, this is in the People's Republic of California. This is all on Democrats that run the state.
I have amazing healthcare, I pay 60$ a week, the people crying about healthcare also are the ones that haven’t had a job for 30 years have lived off the government for that entire time😂
6000 per months, thats sick man! whats wrong with the greed here
America is more concerned sbout profit than a persons well being .. 😮
Insurance companies need to be restricted from raising prices until this horrific disaster is rectified. This is probably why home owners are increasing rent knowing that their costs are going to skyrocket within the next year!
This was planned

Yup, I left Southern California for North Carolina, paid $159 for a beautiful 3 bedroom on an acre. Property tax is $1100 yr.

Exactly they take better care of illegal immigrants than our own.
That's bullshit you own the land for 40 years and now you have to sell the land because insurance won't pay enough.
Good luck, we're in a shortage in housing in California
GREED … IT shows who people really are behind their facades especially when others are in desperate need. Shameful. Sinful.
Developers will buy that land up real cheap like don’t worry they’re already making deals on land in the palisades
