i really miss barbara’s miscarriage arc i think it was really deep and added something to how much they wanted kids cuz later on it isn’t as important when lydia basically becomes their adoptive child
It would have been soooo much better, and the musical itself would have had more depth if they kept a lot of key parts! Like the Maitlands miscarriage or the carnical scene (even a toned down version). Because BJ leaves in the end, it would make it easier on the crowd if he was more "evil", and harder to forgive😆 I love the show as it is now, but it would have been so incredibly cool to watch the DC version!! It is so different. Though I think the bad critics it got in the beginning is the reason for the lack of clips and footage of the musical😕
His whole “BUT MOMMY’S GONE!” Line kinda makes it sound like ether his voice is going demonic or making the room shake from his anger. Ether way a very scary situation!
I think Beetlejuice has some serious mommy issues because no one ever really cared for or about him and some part of him wants to help others get to their loved ones but another part loathes them for the love they share with someone.
I really wish they left the miscarriage aspect of the musical. It would’ve been a very powerful and emotional. The song “Children we Didn’t Have” was a great example of how powerful and sad this aspect of the musical could’ve been.
I completely agree. Not only would it have given the Maitlands the opportunity to have more depth, but it would’ve had themes about both losing a mother AND losing a child. It would’ve been so powerful.

Yay! I've been waiting all day for this! Also something I noticed is that in different performances of the DC run there are different lyrics/lines that were said. I listened to the audio of the performance on October 18th, 2018 (which I believe is the one you used for this video) and then today I listened to the opening night on October 14th, 2018 and there were some extra lines that didn't show up in some of the later DC performances even just a few days later! *also dead mom reprise needs more love it is amazing*

I definitely prefer Beetlejuice with more edge! Its more entertaining but also understandable since he was born dead in the musical and for so long he was alone so his compassion would probably be a lot harder to find

to be honest, from all 3 of these videos, some of the things they changed/cut just fit better in the show (though there are some things i would've liked to see, like the miscarriage arc) and give it a better vibe that just makes sense. mainly some dialouge/song snippets, but especially a lot of the r-rated stuff, it was almost too much and just felt a little too childish, which seems like the opposite of what they wanted, and just kinda thrown in there weirdly. i saw it earlier this week (and i'm gonna see it again in a few days lol) and i think there was just the right balance in the show. i like a lot of the song changes to what's on the official album too.

I think the miscarriage arc makes it seem less like people were pressuring the Maitlands to have kids/ they're kinda idiots like the current version, but the Not Barbara 2.0 song is a little much.

to be honest, from all 3 of these videos, some of the things they changed/cut just fit better in the show (though there are some things i would've liked to see, like the miscarriage arc) and give it a better vibe that just makes sense. mainly some dialouge/song snippets, but especially a lot of the r-rated stuff, it was almost too much and just felt a little too childish, which seems like the opposite of what they wanted, and just kinda thrown in there weirdly. i saw it earlier this week (and i'm gonna see it again in a few days lol) and i think there was just the right balance in the show. i like a lot of the song changes to what's on the official album too.

I think the miscarriage arc makes it seem less like people were pressuring the Maitlands to have kids/ they're kinda idiots like the current version, but the Not Barbara 2.0 song is a little much.
