Freelance Bioexorcist There was actually an interview on Playbill from Eddie Perfect about the songs in the final show and he said that the reason he cut that part that allowed for Lydia to win the argument in the song which is that deleted section is because it was too important for her to win just yet. Overall Delia not letting her win allowed for her realization in Home some.

I just thought of something if someone decides to animate it I imagine that as the music box slows down beetlejuice also slowly tilts his head grinning manically eyes glowing or going a black and white hypnotic look or something like that
Then at “who’s next? everybody gets to play!” He seemed to break the forth wall grabbing the video bar coming out of the screen or grabbing the camera yanking it close as everyone runs around in the background screaming
I like how they changed Beetlejuice from being an actual demon who just wants to murder into a more cinnamon roll Beetlejuice who just wants to be seen and scare people. I feel like it makes him a lot more likable. Also I really wish they kept that version of Say My Name where Lydia isn’t interested at all. It’s so funny and catchy. And I wish they kept the cute little jazz hands dance

The floor opened and two test your strength came up Maxie and Maxine were sat on them and there was, if I remember correctly a Circus Tent look and maybe a Giant Clown face at the top, it could've been cut late in DC, but I was at like the 3rd preview. Anywho, the mallets came down and the fell thru the floor, essentially murdering them. It took a long time for everything to go back for the scene transition, not after everyone gets chased out of the house BJ says something like, 'It's our house now." and end Act 1 there was still a scene after the carnival game. DC had so many songs and it was a lot darker and vulgar as you can see from the videos. I think they did a great job on Broadway finding the story. BJ was not really likable in DC at all, especially act two.

Ahhh so the whole haunted carnival thing with the rolled up arms was exactly what happened when Lydia summoned Beetlejuice in the movie. They probably changed it to keep the differences, but I still would’ve loved to see all that!!

reyna michaelis It does!! Lydia’s relationship with Charles in D.C. was filled with much more tension. She even wished death on him in “Dead Mom”. She really dislikes him, and the ending note of “Say My Name” does a great job of capturing that malevolence, for lack of a better word.
What I get from these vids is the DC run was more in line with the movie while Broadway seemed to draw more from the cartoon (in terms of Beetlejuice's character). The first is murderous while the other is mischievous. It's fascinating. I like them both!

okay this is probably gonna be in a later part, but in DC instead of “What I Know Now” there was this boy band in the underworld called “Boy Inferno”. It was beautiful. And I’m pretty sure Charles had his own song about Emily that made me intensely cry.

I had Avenue Q prepare me for my teenage years but nothing could prepare me for this. In my own personal opinion, I would have kept all the dark jokes in but then perhaps they got too many complaints from people. Then again Betelgeuse is a demon I wouldn't be surprised if he was too much for people to handle. It is funny that you don't really consider what the product was before you saw it. Gosh this video has been so helpful to me thank you thank you thank you. The most important part of the musical is the fact that it happened and though it was very experimental, it worked for people which hopefully means that people can still push the boundaries of musical theatre. This has been really inspiring to listen to... not the "show me your $%^&" part (obviously) but the fact the musical changed so much. (Also because they cut more songs and parts of scenes, who thinks they made Beautiful Sound longer to compensate ie longer dance break and longer vamps and scenes to make up the 2 hours? Is it just me?)

I had tickets to see the show on March 14th (just two days after Broadway went dark) And now after finding out that it won’t return to the Winter Garden (but will hopefully find a new theater, fingers crossed!), I’m so devastated I won’t be able to see it. While a lot of this is fun and I can appreciate it having been cut mostly for cohesiveness, change of tone or replacement with something more fitting, I am really glad those Maxie lines were cut. They really don't add anything except for cringe.

I definitely appreciate why the DC reviews were mixed. The show was far cruder and less funny/endearing for it. They smartly economized the banter, softening the humour, but sharpening the overall momentum. The final show really hums along a great clip, while a lot of these cut lines belabour their points.

1. I agree! It made more sense for it to be on the DC line, but they had to make some cuts to the show wherever possible, so I suppose Say My Name is no exception. :/

I had Avenue Q prepare me for my teenage years but nothing could prepare me for this. In my own personal opinion, I would have kept all the dark jokes in but then perhaps they got too many complaints from people. Then again Betelgeuse is a demon I wouldn't be surprised if he was too much for people to handle. It is funny that you don't really consider what the product was before you saw it. Gosh this video has been so helpful to me thank you thank you thank you.
The most important part of the musical is the fact that it happened and though it was very experimental, it worked for people which hopefully means that people can still push the boundaries of musical theatre. This has been really inspiring to listen to... not the "show me your $%^&" part (obviously) but the fact the musical changed so much. (Also because they cut more songs and parts of scenes, who thinks they made Beautiful Sound longer to compensate ie longer dance break and longer vamps and scenes to make up the 2 hours? Is it just me?)

Ahhhh thank you so much for this!! I had tickets to see the show on March 14th (just two days after Broadway went dark)
And now after finding out that it won’t return to the Winter Garden (but will hopefully find a new theater, fingers crossed!), I’m so devastated I won’t be able to see it. Keep up the great work!

While a lot of this is fun and I can appreciate it having been cut mostly for cohesiveness, change of tone or replacement with something more fitting, I am really glad those Maxie lines were cut. They really don't add anything except for cringe.

Yup! Chinchilla tea’s right. It actually made way more sense to have the scalp reveal on that line (because scalping used to be a barbaric indicator of victory), but they took out the line, unfortunately.

Ahhh I love the last part because it's more like what happened in the movie
I definitely appreciate why the DC reviews were mixed. The show was far cruder and less funny/endearing for it. They smartly economized the banter, softening the humour, but sharpening the overall momentum. The final show really hums along a great clip, while a lot of these cut lines belabour their points.

Also, if you’re looking to do another after “Jump in the Line”, I’d definitely recommend waiting for Part 3. It’ll probably be the highest quality video content-wise out of the series, so I’m excited to make it. There’s an entire mini-scene in “That Beautiful Sound”, there’s a “Dead Mom (Reprise)”, there’s this funny little thing in “That Beautiful Sound (Reprise)”, and it might be the most interesting to animate; however, if you’d rather do it for this video, go for it!
