  • One of the more taxing task of our farm operation is loading up chickens to take them to the processor. This is a 2 day event for us. Day 1 we get the whole batch loaded up so I can make the hour drive to our processor & drop of our birds. The next day I make the trip again to pick up our finished product. Everything gets loaded up into the freezers & then it's time to get all of our equipment cleaned up & ready to go for the next round. This video is an inside look of how we take on the this task & what we find to be most efficient way to do it.

Michael, am looking to try a small batch of freedom rangers but also don’t feel like tackling the processing of them myself on my first attempt. Roughly, how much is it to take to get them processed? Does it nearly offset the money you saved during the raising process?

Hey! So there are a ton of variables to consider when doing your first batch. First understand you will lose money and the numbers will not make sense when getting started. All of the start up cost to buy equipment and build structures up front will be there. Freedom rangers are great for the heartiness but they are 12 week grow out & you need to make sure your processor will take them. The processors I use will only do Cornish or white rangers. Not reds. When it comes to processing cost I don’t have the cost breakdown in front of me but it’s usually around $1000 to have 200 done to give you an idea. They are all vacuum sealed. I generally have 40 or so done whole and the rest are parted out.
It gets cheaper and starts to make more sense the more batches you do in a year & when you do a higher quantity. I raise white rangers now. I have less mortality & it’s still an 8 week bird. If you are raising to just feed your family it’ll always be more expensive when you run the numbers. The trade off is meat you raised, know how it was raised, and the pride of raising your own food.
      Hope that helps! 😁

How did you get the straps off the Apple Watch with the spigen case? Saw your Amazon review. The case covers the release tabs on the back.

Hey! It makes a bit trickier to get to the release tabs but I usually just use a small screw drive or something like that to push on the spot where the tabs are. I just used the prong of my fork to double check it and it works. The watch face case has an outline of where those release tabs are so it should be somewhat easy to find.

I tried using pushing down on them in the past but it was a pain. I’ll try using a dime or penny and see if that works. Just don’t want to damage the case. Thanks for the help!

Understood. I know mine gets difficult if I don’t clean it often enough. If it’s clean I can get it pretty easily. Good luck and no problem!

Put wax paper between your layers

Time consuming but that would definitely work! Thanks for the help my friend. It would be worth it for the chicken breast packages if nothing else. They are the worst about it.
