They have an underground well system that drips water into the ponds I'm not sure if the water gets heated beforehand or the temperature it comes out at keeps it warm enough
The pond is heated by a 300 watt heater which usually keeps it under control except in extreme circumstances. Unfortunately this winter we had a harsh cold front and the temp dropped below 40 degrees, I lost a lot of fish, the pond temp was in the 50s. Usually the fish do fine with temps even in the 60s
Oh how I wish I had a "neighborhood fish farm" :) At least I get to visit them when folks like you take us on these tours! Nice job! Thank you for coming by my channel by the way - looking forward to seeing more here! GREAT to meet you George!
Definitely a must see. Might I suggest to also make the 4 hour drive to Imperial Tropicals in Lakeland, fl. Definitely worth it, youd need to make an appointment with them beforehand.
@@southfloridaafricancichlid6423 i keep peacock cichlids. Had my tank for about a year now. Cleaned my tank a week ago and discovered about 24 fry in the tank, a total surprise. I thought i had all males but i guess not lol! I started an instagram page check it out its rican_cichlid29. Im loving every min of this hobby, can't wait for the babies to grow already lol!
we enjoyed the tour man. hoping next time you can update us also how they do it. like on the dimensions of their ponds and how they filter everything. also about the cost to run this kind of farm.
Im curious as to how they operate and monitor the fish in that set up? Do they keep breeding pairs elsewhere and use the big concrete tanks as grow outs?
@@southfloridaafricancichlid6423 your girl Is awesome too . She enjoys the hobby with you. Mine is a constant battle of jealousy. You love fish more than you love me..?🤔🤨 really loll..that is really kool..your girl even took a bite for you!!!! Amazing
Coming from someone who work at the farm I am just saying that the fish farm may seem like a great place to buy ur fish but the water quality is terrible they don’t feed the fish and most of the fish u buy from them are sick and they will still sell it to you i mean if u don’t believe me ask around u will I would rather support a local pet store
I'm sure not all of them are sick. We had a problem buying fish there a long long time ago but ever since then things have turned for the better. I saw feeding the fish in the morning before the farm open. Do you still work there? Interesting perspective
@@southfloridaafricancichlid6423 no I stopped working their opened my own business and I am currently selling health monster fish and plecos that I bread but yea I mean if I buy the fish I would want it to be alive and healthy but I am telling u they dont feed their fish unless a big TH-camr comes but great video I did truly enjoy it and your editing skills are great
Thank you all for stopping by! Here is a link to the video I made of the fish we got from the fish farm! th-cam.com/video/SJxAAd3cB50/w-d-xo.html
@South Florida African Cichlids how does this fish farm keep the wayer temperature up? Especially in colder months?

Thanks so much for your prompt response. Regarding your 150gallon pond. Is that heated? And how cold does it get during winter?

Definitely worth a look
Great video when do you think you will be shipping im in Philadelphia pa
Not anytime soon Coop, having good luck selling local and trying to keep up with fish in my limited space
what is the secret to making the algae only grow on the walls and not making the water cloudy green?
Are those cement tanks? Looks like some hardened sheet
Yes they are i believe they are used in caskets
How can the water system at the farm get so clear ?
Are this tank made of concrete?
Yes
