I've been diggin' Big Al and the Wildweeds since 1967 - No Good To Cry, Happiness Is Just An Illusion - great tunes never die!
No Good To Cry got me to this video (and Bonnie Raitt got me back to Al in the first place). The Wildweeds played at my church hall in 1967. Have always been a huge fan but haven't looked for videos! Go Al!!
Big Al Anderson is a phenomenal talent whose career I've been following for decades, in NRBQ and as a solo artist. His music goes beyond any genre into the territory of pure joy.
Probably one of the most under rated musician ever , loved seeing him play all over New England with NRBQ as well

Growing up as a fellow musician in the town of Windsor, Ct Al and the Wildweeds to this day are an inspiration to all of the cats in town that started in the music business from back in the day. I had the good fortune in my early bands to open before and after the release of No Good To Cry. The Big Man's talent never disappoints and from way back in the day I knew that he was going to make an impact in the music industry as a performer and song writer. From the Visuals ,Altones , Six Packs, Wildweeds & NRBQ he was not going to be denied. See you at The Infinity in Hartford on 12/28!!!!
Without a doubt, Big Al lives up to his name in the music industry and has made CT proud. Saw his show at the Hartford Infinity Hall on 12/28 and it rocked! Doug - you're so lucky to have grown up with him back in the days when it all started.

Now THAT''S what a fantastic live mix is. Whoever recorded this one knew just what he was doing. Al's playing and singing is OUT OF THIS WORLD as is the performance of those backing him here. This tune is SMOKIN' and I'm a smilin' the whole way through. Thanks Al and all involved in bringing this!
Al Anderson...totally, completely underrated as a singer, guitarist and songwriter. Saw him in the 60s and followed his career. Great, great, GREAT talent. Love his work.
Watch Al knock this great rockabily performance out of the park and then realize that he is a humble guy as well. He once said of Steve Ferguson who he replaced in NRBQ, "Fergie could do things that I can't touch" and he organized and headlined a benefit for Steve when he was dying of cancer. A humble guy who cares about others; that makes listening to his music even more enjoyable for me.
Big Al can sure stir up a tornado. The band and the production, as lindyfralin hwound states below, are tremendous.
A guitar solo hammering and splintering the root chord, but he makes it work.

Lot of negative stuff as far as the music industry....but, theres always Big Al. Anything he touches is memorable......

This song is so BAD ASS I keep coming back to it. What an amazing sound from each instrument. The drum mix is perfect, the slide is out of sight, Al's Tele is COOKING, the lady is cool as ice and a great singer. Everything about this song and production is the ABSOLUTE FINEST I've heard and seen in a Loooonggg time. If you like the mix too, check out NRBQ's "Ain't it Alright" live at Fitzgerald. Terry, Scott and the boys did a killer job and the mix is also OUT OF THIS WORLD! Thanks again BIG AL and the HEADLINERS. I cannot believe Taylor Swift's "Shake it Off" video has nearly 700 million views and this masterpiece only 5,620. The world is sadly missing out.

I am a little confused as to why there are so many comments on this post about Al Anderson. Yes, I know the NRBQ connection here but Al isn't on the stage. Johnny Spampinato, Joey's brother, is playing guitar along with Aaron Spade on the other side of the stage. Chandler Travis is playing bass. Rikki Bates on drums. Forgive me for stating the obvious.

I've always loved Big Al, he writes, and plays, and signs everything so well. I met him once. He is a big guy, my felt like I had to look straight up to look him in the eye.

It can, but can being the key word, I know so many people who drink socially and enjoy alcohol, living a normal life. I'm sorry for your struggles, my father died when I was 18 from alcohol poisoning, but I can surprisingly still enjoy songs like this
