    Its interesting to see how minor interpretation faults done on Upscale level 1 lead to massive difference from the original in the final results.
    Properly most noticeably with the Clock Tower and Simon.
    But also noticeable in some others like how the monkey dude or what ever was on level one interpreted as a Dark Dwarf, the holy water's cross was moved from the lit to the center of the bottle or how the sign on the money bags changed so much.
    Really funny tho is how the stop watch changed from visible time field to losing it in the first upscale only for the other ones to restore the time field by putting glass on its top.
    And one more really interesting thing is that in the upscale of the opening did it on level one apparently notice its CastelVania as it actually recreated the iconic final path to Dracula's tower but that element than did go lost in upscale 2.

      Thank you for amazing analysis. Yes, this was quite fun to do (FOR SCIENCE, idk) - because you can see how the AI interprets this and then builds up on these interpretations.
      I did help the AI by imputing very simple prompts, so that's why Simon looks like he is. A lot of people said that he should be a barbarian type. When I did the prompt to the original image, I wrote something along the lines of “Vampire hunter in leather armor”.
      And I agree that for environments it did a very nice job on the 1st iteration, but then deviated a bit. I did originally 4 steps, like with enemies and items, but step 3 and 4 of environments were the same, it didn't add anything, it was just another variant of an image.

      It really is interesting to see how the AI actually behaves
      I still would have expected with such prompts something closer to Simon's artwork from CastleVania 2 but I guess it must have leached onto something else.
      Ah I was already wondering why landscapes got less pictures but that obviously explains it than.

    Cool concept, however the only criticism I have is that the spirit of most, not all, of the original sprites gradually fades the more upscaled they become; to the point were they almost become unrecognizable. Look no further than Simon as a great example of this. That being said, I did think Dracula looks the best out of the bunch, because it retains the same spirit as the original. He's the whole reason why I clicked this video the begin with.

      I understand and agree. But think about this as if there was a remake made by Konami. They would probably come up with new designs to be relevant in 2023.

    I don't know how complex or specific your methods, but credit to the original working artsists for rendering such tiny sprites which such overwhelming clarity that the AI knows what to riff off of.
