Thank you for this video!!! I’ve ran GHL products for about 15 years. I had a B@&$# of a time w this because of the firmware, device recovery and ultimately a power supply that wasn’t pushing enough current to run the pumps. This video helped provide the confidence that in that storm of issues, I knew what I was doing!!! Thank you! I owe you a frag or two!

Nice informative video! This gear has a lot of steps to it for tracking KH only.
It does, but about half of the steps are for the doser itself. The notification settings for the containers is great as I receive a text message to fill or empty a container accordingly.
It should be noted that their upcoming ION director using the same method for setup and measures 5 different parameters.
Great video but there was no mention about where to put the filter on the sample line and do you calibrate the sample line with the filter attached to it?
How do u get it to add ATI essentials? As its three part? I have 3 containers which has each element in each one .? As there is only 1 pump on this to add ?

I have the GHL Doser and see that the DIrector would be a useful addition. I also have a Calcium Reactor which adds alkalinity. Would you still use the KDH and add for example a cylinder full of BRS soda ash to tweak the alkalinity?

does the kh director need the same 4 doser pump to test and another set of dosers to dose alk ?
smiles1969able hey! You can dose kh with the pump wich is left 3+1, but you have to dose ca and mg short after kh is dosed 7-10 mins) means you need a second doser with at least 2 pumps more.

@@gocedimoski728 i was looking at buying the ion d and also getting the kh d when i can afford it. does the ion D need another set of dossers as well to dose ca and mag? also if it did need more dossers would it be possible to incorporate a jabao dp4 dosser into the equation or does it all have to be GHL ? im just trying to be clear on what i would need to be fully automated with ca mag and alk ,and a big thank you for your reply happy new year!

I like the idea of this. Is it possible to have it control an additional slave doser? I use Triton and would want four liquids to be dosed equally for whatever that fourth had was doing.

Can you explain how it would control a calcium reactor? I followed your last build and you said you would never go again without a calcium reactor.
It has it in the menu to have it work along side it. So it would shut on or off the solenoid to the reactor. Sadly in this setup as you can see in the video there is ZERO room for anything. Having a baby there is no way I can risk having things out of the stand.
When u measure the length on the sample tube.
Is it the tube from tank + the pumped peace of tube + the 16cm of tube from pump to kh ?
Yes, plus the volume of the optional inline water filter, but the software already takes care of this and prompts wether it should add that filter volume or not.
So it does not dose calcium? can it be used with carbocalcium or all for reef?
How do I control the calcium dosing with this?

Is it mandatory to have a ghl dose for kh director? Won't any existing doser do the job?
What did you use to measure the lengths of tubing? My measuring tape dosent show (6.3) or (6.7) on it, I’m setting mine up today

@@vutruong1791 yeah I got it set up, I used a “waist size” measuring tape that had cm on it, worked perfectly to measure, don’t forget to measure your sample line including the filter attached

What is type of stand is your director on, it looks pretty stable and secure....
It’s from Home Depot in the storage section they are 90 degree brackets. They are made in 7” and 10” I am using the 10 but the 7 works too

This is not a replacement from Kalk. This is a alkalinity tester than actually can work with a calcium reactor and a kalk reactor. This units job is to measure and record alkalinity. If needed it can make adjustments to alkalinity by means of doser,kalk Reactor or calcium reactor.
@@eatsleepreef9565 oh i add kalk to my ato reservoir was thinking of getting a doser but im not sure. With my current setup alk swings 0.5 throught the day wanted a more stable method.

I don't see how this is needed if you use all the hanna checkers and auto dose 2 part.
Manual testing gets old very quick. The plans for this tank is almost all SPS. That being said being able to track and maintain a steady alk will be key. Having this system always Monitor the tank scene when I am a away to be able to make adjustments when I am

I am doing triton method and dosing them all 4 together.
So your using the ghl doser slave too ? Cause I see 3 heads are for testing which leaves one head only

Totally angry with KHD and GHL Support. Within 8 months, they tell me to send it in for repair for the THIRD time. I decommissioned that garbage! Don’t buy it!
