I thought the total would be quite a bit higher. You got a lot of good food for $217, I hope we get a Trader Joe's someday. Your kids were so good while you were shopping. 💜
Praying you do! They're scarce here in the mitten state. They finally built one near me a few years ago. Give it time. :) Aldi is another great alternative. They have a lot of un healthy choices, but they also have a lot of healthy affordable choices to.
Love Trader Joes! I love how you bring your family with! We do the same! We have all gone shopping together(family of 13) many many times! Our Costco knows us so well now! Haha!
Love your grocery hauls! Do you have a new plan that you could share? I’d love to see what your breakfasts, lunches and dinners look like day to day. It’s a lot of work to cook for a large family, especially when it’s healthy and delicious!
Ever try the dark chocolate peanut butter cups from TJ? Those are my favorite! Also, the dark chocolate almond butter pretzels are delicious too. Not sure if you guys like dark chocolate though. I've always loved it, even as a little kid.
I love grocery shopping hauls especially when your children are so well behaved and adorable. I will never get to see New York so thanks for bringing me along.
Nice grocery haul! I've never shopped at Trader Joe's more than a couple of items here and there. We don't have one in our town and you have to drive quite a ways to get to it. Your children were so cute happy new shop❤
I love how you guys eat the same things weekly we do that as well, keeps us on budget and I know it’s good we love so we eat it no waste, I hate food waste
Yes! We plan really carefully. We usually rotate throughout the month what we eat to keep things interesting but that way we can circle back around and use the same ingredients before they get stale❤️
The prices are very good there especially for NYC and a big family. We don’t have a Trader Joe’s near us so I have never been. I wish there was one near here in SW Indiana.
I love the Chocolate at TJ’s! We miss TJ’s. Whenever we are in The lower 48. We go to everyone along our way! Do you have a a shirt video of the Van’s Graphics? Did you hubby design it?

Wish they would open a Trader Joe’s closer to us it’s over half an hour away so never go there! You got a lot of food for the price! I thought it was going to be much higher! How do the kids get money to spend?
Yes! Trader Joe’s is a really unique store! The kids do music performances to help pay for their music lessons and instruments. They also get spending money from that too.❤️
I’m going to have to start going to Trader Joes. It’s not convenient for me so I never go there, but if you got all that for that price, I’m going to try to make that trip occasionally. High Five Moe!
Love Trader Joe's. I love it when you go there. We go there too. Have you thought about getting a second frig or a chest freezer ? It might make it easier to stock up.
@@TheHappyCaravan we have home stores with bags, and I save every one . And they’re great for craft projects. I’m actually a tad jealous of the bags you get. Lol. Love your videos.
I’m in NJ and started saving my TJs paper tote bags when the buzz about bags started…and I now have my own supply of TJ paper bags folded inside my insulated freezer bag in the trunk for when I shop!
I always feel inspired when you share what you’re buying and eating! Just FYI: canola oil is actually very inflammatory to the body even when expeller pressed. If you want a mild tasting oil to cook with that doesn’t cause inflammation, try avocado oil! I hope this doesn’t come off as rude. I only mention it because you brought up the oil. Take care! ❤
If you meant “why” then its because processed oils and oils from seeds are very unstable fats. (For example saturated fats are stable/solid at room temperature like butter or coconut oil, while the unsaturated are liquid at room temperature. ) Because they are unstable they oxidize in your body and that creates free radicals which cause inflammation. Hopefully that all makes sense 😅
@@finn-gb1px Yes, that’s exactly it. Also, the rapeseed plant (canola is just the PC name since “rapeseed” doesn’t sound pleasant) is a GMO. That means it is sprayed with pesticides pretty liberally (since GMOs are bred to withstand the sprays). I know there’s a lot of debate about whether GMOs are bad for the body or not, but I prefer to avoid them.
This is so true - in the past 2 months our family have cut about 90% of all seed oils we were consuming after learning the major health impacts that seed oils like canola etc have on your body. Once you start looking at the ingredients for your bread, pasta sauces, pesto, cookies - basically everything in your pantry, you'll find there is sunflower/canola/palm etc in all of them, it's quite shocking when you open your eyes to the damage its doing. We have switched to items that contain olive oils, butter, coconut oil and avocado oil and although our grocery bill has gone up a little - in the long run I know it will be doing so much for our family's health. I wish I had known years ago how inflammatory and bad for the human body seed oils are. 😔
If you strap a go-pro to your chest, like my husband and I do; you can have two free hands that are so necessary when shopping with kids. Especially if you were alone. Good flipping the 'stop recording' button when the kids got a bit whiny for snacks. A few of course are necessary, snacks that is. They are growing so fast.
Haha yes!😅 We go through lots of snacks. I don’t limit the healthy ones, but I try to keep the empty calories to a minimum, that’s where the whining takes place😅
My daughter is allergic to soy, and sadly Ezekiel Bread has soy. But Dave’s killer bread is soy free unless ingredients have changed since I last checked so check to make sure.
Your family eats soo healthy and I commend you for that. Just wondering if you ever feel the need to change the weekly menu??? Maybe the menu, as is, pleases all and know one complains of the redundancy. Such well behaved children!
Can you talk about shopping with all the kids vs some or none? Benefits and negatives? Do your oldest look after the younger ones? How do they feel about that? I used to dislike watching over younger sibling, at least not for too long. I would understand how much easier and faster it would be for parents to run to the grocery store and get everything without the kids. Are you tempted to just take the baby and toddler and leave everyone else at home?
The big kids usually are practicing at home while we are gone so it is just the 5 youngest out with us. I feel like they learn a lot about prices, food and even nutrition by going to the store so it’s sort of like a grocery store/ Montessori education moment wrapped into one.
And the only 2 that require constant supervision are Melody and Moses. I usually look after Melody and Marc usually looks after Moses so thankfully the older ones aren’t burdened.
Hi, your channel was suggested to me and I recognised the name as being the new family the dougherty dozen claims as friends and I just wanted to ask you to think hard about aligning yourself with that family. I'm sure you are well aware of what some of the issues people have with Alicia. Your children are very talented and you seem like a good family and I'm concerned that you will be lumped in with them. Obviously it's your choice but I felt compelled to say something to you which I believe comes from God even though it's out of my comfort zone. Xx
@The Happy Caravan thank you for taking my comment seriously. I see incredible potential in your family and I don't hate Alicia but just the fact that people have so many issues with her can make others automatically dislike you. I do wish you all the best, God bless you. Xx
That’s a lot of wheat and 1 too many canola oil bottles. One of the most toxic foods possible is seed oils, aka canola/rapseed, soybean, sunflower, peanut and yes linseed oil too. Seed oils are a no go. Substitute with tallow or pork fat, butter, coconut, or avocado oil.❤
