A very special thank you my friend Anganoff. Anganoff was one of the first people I met through the Spider-Man 2000 community. This video would not be possible without him, or his influence on the Spider-Man 2000 community.
Anganoff and I had the idea for this project towards the end of 2018, but didn’t get started on it until around December of 2019. It’s wild to see this project come to life after we’ve had it on the back burner so long.
Spider-Man 2000 was my first video game ever. And it was my first real experience with Spider-Man’s lore too. My first real experiences with Spider-Man and videogames happened at the same time, and I think it’s for that reason that I’ve always been in love with the Spider-Man games.
Contrary to popular belief, I actually think superhero games are harder to make than people believe. Oftentimes it’s not what a video game character can do that makes them interesting, but what they can’t. If Laura Croft could stick to walls, or if Mario had super strength, those games would become incredibly boring due to how much easier the game becomes after that point, (see, Superman: Shadow of Apokalips,)
So creating enemies that can challenge Spider-Man, as well as levels he can maneuver around, must have been an incredibly daunting task, seeing as there are no characters like Spider-Man to base their game off of. But by creating this game, they set the standard for what Spidey games could be like moving forward, allowing the character’s abilities in games to progress with developing video game tech, while others characters were still stuck as licensed game garbage
Spider-Man 2000 was the Arkham Asylum of Spider-Man videogames.
Without it, there would be no Insomniac’s Marvel’s Spider-Man PS4.
This is where it all began. And it’s a shame no one remembers it.

Rino Romano’s Spidey voice is just perfect to me. Even if the material he was given made his performance seem cheesy at times, the tone of the voice itself is the bridge between CDB’s intellectual side and Josh Keaton’s wit. That’s exactly what it should be!

I remember getting this game from my older cousin when he upgraded to a PS4, he had it since he was a kid, and I was just getting into gaming, and I loved every second of this Spider-Man game.

One of my favourite things about Spiderman 2000 is when you boot up the game and you get the sick metal music for the Neversoft logo as the eye runs away only to be impaled. Honestly a weird childhood memory, but a core one nonetheless.
I too, am very nostalgic for that Neversoft intro. I love how in the one Tony hawk game, you can play as the eye ball

I played this game over and over as a child, it's one of my favourite Spiderman games, the voice lines was classic comedy, Stan-Lee's voice was such a cool thing and the soundtrack is so memorable, watching this video and hearing the level music I can picture myself back then playing it. Amazing game for an amazing Spiderman.

I would Really Love to see a remastered version of the game. Like, I'd really like to see the design of the main universe of Shattered Dinensions, the combat if Shattered Dimensions, PS4, and WOS, some puzzles, Easter eggs, etc. I'd also like to see Rino Ramano reprise his role as well as Darran Norris as Venom. Would Really love to see the heart and passion in this kind of remastered version.

True but no one ever really brings it up when they talk about Spider-Man games, they only talk about Spider-Man PS4, and Spider-Man 2. Neversoft's Spider-Man gets left out of the conversation entirely
After watching the movies, I had a strong desire to be Spider-Man and get that experience, this game was the answer for that.

My first Spider-Man game and the only one I keep playing anyday (well, I didn't have the second one). This game is a masterpiece. Yes, it is very underrated. The amount of effort the developers did on this game and the wonderful voice acting.

It's amazing to see how many people still love this game and work hard on keeping it alive, i also love this game and i always have a lot of fun playing it. I feel like this game has a lot of passion in it and that's what make it awesome, we can feel how much work they put into it. I do think this game is far superior when compared to the sequel, but i really like the sequel as well, the new mechanics are really cool, especially the part about unlocking powers and combining them with any suit we want. It's pretty sad that we didn't get a 3rd game, i'd love to see this world expanding even more, but i guess this is an impossible dream now. This is a very well-made video, i like the way you organized the topics and the order they were presented. You deserve way more views, congratulations.

When I was a kid I left the game as soon as I saw the symbiotes, they scared me to death. I picked up this game last year and finished it

Man this one of the games from my childhood I want to go back to the most. I had it for pc, and my parent’s computer that it ran on got replaced back like 2007 lol. I still have the disc, but no way to play it. I’m a console gamer and don’t have the money for a pc atm, so I’m stuck watching videos like this and trying to relive the days of playing this game.

The only reason I understood Into the Spiderverse. The costumes, the colectibles, Stan Lee's narration.. They shot this one out the park. I remember this game cost $50 in 2002. No joke.

I played this game when i was 7 or 8 & i still know this was revolutionary & i was blown away thay we can zipline and throw a web wall really this game is a major part of my life forever
I had much more fun playing this than those last Spider man games for PS4 and PS5
Like you, this game was my first exposure to the Marvel universe as a whole, and I LOVED it. I should plug it into my PS2 and give it another playthrough, though it would be much better for me to get a PC that can play it so I can try including the extra goodies the fans of added/restored to the game.

I recently by replaying this game learned that there is what if mode. :D My first playthrough was in 2002 at my friend house, at that time we did not know special web combat moves, so it was very hard game for us, but it added more tension, especially the fight against the rhino when controller vibrated non stop. :D Last fight was especially scary. Funny thing is that at that time we did not know any english, but we still really enjoyed the cutscenes and voice acting. One of the best games and childhood memories I had. :)
I've been playing Spider-Man (2018) for the first time and when I found out you could add Spider-Man (2000) costumes to it, my love for the game tripled

The PC version was one of my first games, but the farthest I ever got for a while was to the Scorpion battle where I turned the game off because I was scared to fight a boss lol. Many years later I found the disc again but whenever I got to Scorpion again, the pre-bossfight cutscene would just repeat over and over again. My parents dismissed this as an effect of the disc being scratched and I believed them (even though the disc had no scratches) until I tried again one day and found out how to skip cutscenes, skipped the pre-Scorpion fight cutscene and it worked. By this point I had watched countless playthroughs of the game so I wasn't surprised by anything that happened afterwards. I didn't beat it though, I stopped playing after the second Venom fight and just never played it again. Now the disc is probably in my basement somewhere I'll never find it again.
I never had those memory cards for the ps2 so I would literally speed run the entire game in a single day and I did this quite often

I remember when I first got the game I didn't have a memory card so everytime I played I had to beat it eventually I learned how to speedrun it haha! I also once type S COSMIC in the cheat section because I actually red the comics and wondered if anything happens and to my surprise I actually got that variation of Spidey and he was invincible that day when I discovered that cheat was amazing!
