    Thanks so much for taking the time to do this! Followed and it totally worked for our 2004 rav4. Bought a replacement part but when I took the old one out and cleaned it it still worked. Thanks again so much for the excellent tutorial! Window was stuck up as motor not working at all but undid all apart from the gold bolt holding mechanism on and managed to manually wriggle the window low enough to unbolt. Thanks again from the UK.

    Need to mention that you have to lower the window down to expose the top bracket bolts that connect the scissors frame to the bottom of the window. It's easier to see how far to lower it after you take off the door panel. Also my replacement motor had no threads in the three screw holes. They expect you to use self tapping screws to connect it. The ones on my Toyota were self tapping, but still a pain to get started and screwed in. I used a ratchet.
    Also my bracket was spring loaded so I had to use a plastic zip tie to keep it from unwinding the bracket and injuring my hands when removing the motor. That worked great, lucky I had one on hand!
    I spent some time cleaning off the old congealed grease (looked like varnish) on the sprocket gear. I suspect that was slowing things down.
    Really appreciate your video! It helped me a lot to get going on this project.
    Thanks a bunch!

    Something that isn't really mentioned here is that when you replace the motor you should note how many teeth are on either side of the motor when you pull off the old one. When I took mine apart and put the new motor on, I could not line up all of the holes and that was because the motors position was not correct on the main gear. After adjusting it to have 4-5 teeth below it I was able to get it all together. This probably failed because all of the grease had turned tacky and rubbery, so I lubed everything up again after cleaning all of that off and re-lubing everything. The last thing I haven't figured out how to do is reset the automatic window switch. If anybody else figures out how to do it, the regular hold it up and down for 5 seconds trick doesn't seem to be working.

    You don’t mention how to lower the window to access corner bolts on each corner if your problem is the window is up all the way and the motor won’t work to lower it. Seems to me there is another job to do before this one which is not shown.

    • @GertieMusic
      @GertieMusic  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I totally understand. In my case though, my window was working before before but would freeze in certain spots. Meaning going up or down it would stop in the middle.. I would have to wait 5 minutes and then it would move again.
      That is a very good question if your window does not work at all from the beginning. I wonder if there's a way to manually push it up or down with your hands? Thank you for bringing this question up, Hope the rest of the video helps.

    • @rafaelramos2731

      Thank u for the prompt follow up. I did have to take all screws and then the window lowered but not w/o sweating my butt off to hold it in place as I taped it, also the window went out of its tracks as I tried to unscrew and later as I screwed. By the way the three or four slotted screws are used with a torx screwdriver and this is a torx 24 or 25 I believe. Thanks for sharing. Ps. I did finish my job though but was no easy peasy ha ha……

    Many thanks for the great tutorial. Thanks to you, I completed the install without a hitch... the window operates up and down on command, the problem I have now is that when the window reaches the top and is closed it automatically begins to go down again and stops about halfway down. I can manipulate the window control up a little bit at a time so that it will close completely and stay closed... just not automatically... your thoughts on that please... thanks

      @silverado2500wr450 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      he doesn't tell you the motor has to be "timed" or "clocked " before it's installed. Otherwise you get the problem you have. Now you have to take it all apart again and time the motor, then reinstall. HUGE step that's left out. I'm sure he had the same problem after he put it all back together.

    • @GertieMusic
      @GertieMusic  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wow! I totally understand your question! In my case though, I was lucky that my motor was not completely inoperative before I began work on replacing the motor. Before I replaced the motor, I was able to move my window up and down by the button, but it would stop midway when I would go up or down and would have to wait 5 seconds before it would move again. It wasn't completely broken, but it was on its way to being completely broken. Maybe there's a way you can manually get your window down in the position that you can unscrew the 10 mm bolts. Hope this helps and thank you for the observation.
