Fun Fact: Yajnopavita - Sacred white thread.
Have you noticed bare bodied men wearing white threads from the left shoulder to the right hip?
In Hindu culture, the white thread/string worn by participants during the fire walk ceremony, often referred to as a "yajnopavita" or sacred thread, symbolizes purity and spiritual readiness. It is associated with rituals and signifies a commitment to spiritual practices and a connection to divine protection. The act of fire walking itself is a demonstration of faith, courage, and the ability to transcend physical pain, often believed to be empowered by divine grace or blessings.

Wow i've never seen this in-person. The fire pit looks scary when they are prepping it. Awesome you covered all the events leading up to and after the walk. 🔥🔥❤‍🔥❤‍🔥

The fire pit is definitely scary. When many people walked across the fire pit, the centre pathway became not hot. The temple helpers will spread out the embers every half hour or so to make it hot again. Last year, a devotee, a big guy, fell on the fire pit and was rescued. I didn't hear of any incident this year. Everyone who did the fire walk is a brave person.

One of the traditional Hindu festivals in Singapore,”Theemithi”, leads believers barefoot along the path to Sri Mariamman Temple.
The streets are alive with sacred energy, adorned in vibrant decorations, while those walking solemnly are wrapped in celebratory yellow cloth, holding Neem leaves in their hands.
Your video camera captures every detail, the lens absorbing and preserving the essence of this vibrant, spiritual celebration!✨

Though being a First World country, Singapore is rich in ethnic cultural diversity, with people practicing age old traditions. Theemithi is one of these. Hot on the heels of the Nine Emperor Gods Celebrations by the Taoist Chinese, we see this Fire Walking Festival by the Hindus. Led by the Chief Priest, every devotee walked across the fire pit, each doing so for his personal reasons, as a mark of devotion. I am glad to have captured this to share with viewers.

Not to mention that this festival also occurs exactly 11 days before Deepavali! Comparing this festival and Deepavali, I'm pretty sure that these 2 festivals are COMPLETELY different...
