- Mattel is selling a toy version of the Cybertruck for $100, and Bridget Carey gets an early look at the R/C vehicle. Pre-orders for the new collectable begin Friday May 21 at 8 a.m. PT (11 a.m. ET) at MattelCreations.com.
My test drive didn't last long when it broke in the first five minutes of playing with it. I reached out to Mattel about it, and the company shared this statement: "The version provided to CNET was an early-phase product sample. Fans will receive a final version of the latest 1:10 Hot Wheels R/C Cybertruck to ensure they can enjoy the best play experience possible."
So things may be different when the final models ship to customers, which Mattel says will be by September 15. (And maybe when I send back my model to Mattel, they can investigate any issues.)

Not sure why , but this series gives a smile on my face, that I'm very much looking for during my tiresome shift.
If anyone buys this, first thing to do is open the dif up and superglue it with the best superglue you know. Only on the parts that connects to the cvd by the screws and leave everything loose as is. Mine has not had any problems after I did this as seems like the cvd that connects to the pinion gear is built weak. Hope this helps 👍
Sorry, it’s called differential outdrive that has a screw connecting to the gear inside the main.
First 5 minutes sold me, the next 3 minutes immediately un-sold me. The first RC car with non-movement as a feature & not a bug.
Wouldn’t you be able to take the body and put in on a tougher and faster rc underbody?

damn $100 rc broke from just changing directions?? seems like POS. Good luck for anyone trying to get a refund or replacement, mattel collectors site took 2 months to respond to a damaged collectible they sent me (the candy striper vans). I literally had to chargeback before they returned my email
You hotwheel collectors are all pathetic. Diecasts cost 20 cents to make and you neckbeards buy pink rlc cars for 25 bucks

Totally missed that the tailgate has the ramp that goes down on the $400 one. So you can ride the atv up into that tailgate.
Either the pinion gear is loose or the Differential or main gear are stripped

Just bought one for $50 NZD (aprox$35USD), regularly $240NZD ($165USD), as a faulty product. "Remote not working".
Thought might be a simple fix, opened remote, to find "-ve wire" floating loose. Solder and part of printed circuit board track had broken and come away with solder on the end of the wire.
Simple fix to re-solder wire to board, but shows that circuit board is made cheaply as well.
Did you get a marble and throw it at the door window? You have to check the strength of the glass, y'know!

That collector's edition seems to have an alignment issue!
There are settings to tinker with that but I just wanted to jump into it and have fun.

Just got mine, used in on a normal street, no jump anything, the front suspension just snapped on the first used which got the car to flip and and it's full on scratch and un-usable... The 100$ version is very very cheap. :(

That's actually good for $100
the toy version is indeed cheap looking and fragile. You might be able to fix it after opening up the cover. Maybe an axial or gear break. But not sure if you can get spare parts. Lucky it is cheap. The collector's edition is still quite slow, not sure how much more durable.
