One heartwarming note skipped over here: Jilia did end up falling for Jowy genuinely, funny considering Jowy actually had a crush on her since childhood. So strong was her love for him that she was willing to just be used in his plans although he refused and indeed sent her and Pilikia away, although not before Jilia embraces him one last time. As the 3 journeyed together at the end, they stop by Harmonia to check on the pair with Jowy taking a long look to his wife, before leaving to explore the world with his 2 childhood friends for a while.
This is the best RPG ever written in my opinion. Not to mention its great background music that I'm still listening to after 20 years. It just makes me relax and brings back the nostalgic air back when I was so addicted to Suikoden 2. So many good memories.
I've never been more afraid of a video game character, than the first time I had to build 3 separate teams to fight Luca.. one of the best RPGs ever made
He is also just a normal human, in the world full of magic and mythical beast you'd expect a normal human without runes won't be a hard thing to defeat with number alone, which prove to be false in his case. If I recall correctly in one of the interview, Yoshitaka Murayama claimed that Luca is the strongest non-rune user Human in Suikoden world with Georg as second which is believable if we see how much effort we have to do just to take him down. Luca Blight is one of the best villain in my list and the best of the series in my opinion which sadly will never change because Konami killed Suikoden.
Big Thanks to Geesus_Beam for being a patron and making this selection! (no grief for electing to go with the Riou name and my choice to say Rio, please) Edit: Really Konami? Copyright claim? Great video! I was waiting for this one! :) Konami just aren't the company they used to be anymore. Bunch of a$$h4ts who showed their true colors with the whole Metal Gear drama. Hope they go down in flames and someone else takes the reigns on the Suikoden series. It was a great series of games.
Hikkikomori media was hit really bad by konami too, I think for showing cutscenes during his stream of playing one of the silent hills or something. It really sucks that they do this.

Oni, i really appreciate these videos man. They're really interesting! Thanks for your hard work :D
Hey Oni! Been a long while since I commented and got to see a vid. Thanks for continuing your hard work (also thanks to the various Patreons and Supporters you got to help)! Love the Suikoden series so much and 2 was my first game. Enjoyed this walk down memory lane and can’t wait to see what else gets a ReCapitation ^_^
Glad to see so many people showing love for such a great I mean legendary game. It's a classic that can't be overlooked. A remake or a continuation in the series would be amazing. Great video and well done on the overview of the story.
Always happy to see another one of these uploaded, especially when its a series I'm unfamiliar with. Most I've seen of Suikoden is the Luca Blight fight, but this gives some nice context and now I want to see more of the game.
Great game series, at first I was amazed by the large roster of party members. Makes mixing team compositions so much. Watched all of your other Recapatation vids, and while great they got my aunt hooked on them too. And now she’s watching them. Keep up the great work 👍
I really love this game. Since the first time I’ve played it back when I was still a kid, it left a special place in my heart even then not fully understanding the story yet. Now, even after playing numerous RPGs, I always come back to this game. Now, I’ve played this numerous times already with unchanging enthusiasm, and even after playing all the other suikoden games, for me this is the best among them. It’s nice to see videos like this and to see there are still some people who appreciates this masterpiece.
This is the best RPG of all time, and no, I am not a raving Suikoden/Konami fanboy who refuses to let go of his nostalgia. I first played this game in 2012 after growing up playing mainly Square RPGs, and had always accepted Chrono Trigger as the best in the genre. Then I played Suikoden 2 with an open mind and was totally blown away.
Does it? For having a party of 6, Suikoden II moves its combat at an incredibly-brisk pace, and like Chrono Trigger, it is able to utilize positioning of units as a combat mechanic. I personally like being able to use a large party as long as it does not complicate things, and Suikoden II definitely keeps combat simple and brisk.
this is series or actually THIS GAME is the only game from Konami (except all MGS from MG till MGS 5 but not MG Survive) that you must play... the first Suikoden is more like introducing to series, but then this game is the only masterpiece Konami ever make... all Suikoden games after Suikoden 2 is good but there is minor or maybe major gameplay change every games from Suikoden 3 till 5... like the major thing in Suikoden 3 is there are 4 main stories from different MC and learning skill which affected with affinities from every characters, Suikoden 4 which the major battle is a naval battle and crafting equipments but removed the learning system because of timeline wise, and Suikoden 5 is the only game that has almost every aspects except naval battles from all previous games and adding new system to normal battle like formation system... Overall the series is great, there are some spin-off like Suikoden Tactics which take the timeline from Suikoden 4, and visual novels which telling about story between Suikoden 2 to Suikoden 3 from one person perspective, but sadly the visual novels are only released in Japan.
If you love tons of playable characters, this game is the one that you're looking for. Beautiful and meaningful stories with earworm soundtracks are another reasons why you should play this game. The best RPG of all time, at least for me.
A very good JRPG. Very good story. Sad that is so underrated by others. Extremely recommended for those guys out there who wants a very interesting story with a very challenging gameplay.
Thank you for the great recap, it filling of my childhood memories as if for me the character, soundtrack and stories is flowing to the greatest. Thank you once again ^^
Liked and subscribed because its suikoden 2 and the video is amazing and making me feels like it is time to play it through again (yes i replayed suikoden 2 at least once a year).
You say 'awfully suspicious' in a similar manner in all of your videos. I love it. :D I enjoyed Suikodens 4 and 5. Glad you were able to cover this one, since I've never experienced it. See you in the next battlefield.

Another great game in rpg maker was Tales of the drunken paladin
Best RPG. Great plot and especially good when you load Suiko 1 into it. Love how the stories connect with each other (well all suikos connect with each other but I like how 1 and 2 connect the closest)
FFIX? hmm nah this era games like Darksouls, NieR: automata, Persona 5 are still way better than it but Suikoden2 is still the best of the best RPG ever
Greatest rpg of all time and most underrated rpg franchise. 108 stars of destiny, building up your castle, GREAT story probably the best I've played, and iron chef battle mini games. Need I say more?
iam happy to say iam 1 of the og's to play suikoden 1 and 2!! I remember renting suikoden 1 at blockbuster just based on the front cover artwork not knowing what this game really was and i fell in love with the game in a heart beat! I must have rented it a month straight before actually going out and buying a copy finally.
Nice to see someone still covering this game! I hope Konami someday will either resurrect the series or make it available for everyone on recent consoles
What's good bro I'm a new Sub and I enjoy your vids(so nostalgic). Thanks man you really brought back some childhood memories. Can you do Parasite Eve next?
I've been playing this game for 20 years and every time I play it again, I find something new. It's the only game (besides maybe ff7) that I'll go out of my way to do every minigame, sidequest and play through every different ending (of which there are many). This will always be my favorite game.
Recapitation of Suikoden 2 is a brilliant way to refresh the story and key moments. It's perfect for both newcomers and veterans to catch up on the epic tale. The narrative is rich and the recap captures the essence beautifully! 📖🎮
Lunar Silverstar Story Complete? I requested this on your FF Tactics video and you said maybe one day. I'm only bugging you again cause I just watched your video on how you select titles to recapitate and you said the best way to be heard is by posting on your most recent video! Anyways love the videos man, Suikoden 2 is bad ass and I enjoy the games you do that I never played either so I'm watching whatever you put out at this point
Thanks for your patience and persistence; trust me, it's not bugging at all. The Magna Carta 2 consistent request is happening next, after all. Funnily, today is its 19th birthday for its north american release.
Awesome, thanks for taking time yet again to reply, looking forward to it. Magna Carta 2 is a game I've never played so its always fun to learn about the games I never got to experience.
I was 17, had a shitty day at work, Popped into my local game store and I'd been waiting to play this for months. Ran home. Popped it in. I still remember the tingling sensation from the opening few seconds of the music alone with the aooooo and the violin drops below it. What a time.
For me, this is the best JRPG ever made and my most favorite game of all time! I just finished it again for the 11th time last February. Thanks for this video!
I played Suikoden 2 for 3 years barely touching any other games. I played it over and over again and I never got tired of it. Until such time that I need to move on in my life to pursue a career.
i got goosebumps watching the intro.. this game is absolutely one of the best IF NOT the best JRPG, tactic game.. great story. nice art, and AMAZING OST! SUIKODEN 6 SHOULD BE ON PS4. suikofans all over the world have been waiting for so long since PS2
Compelling story, beautiful art direction, believable villain, and most importantly: excellent pace. I've at least 3 playthrough and loved every single second of it. Suikoden 2 is one of the best piece of entertainment (on any medium, of any genre) I've ever experienced. Too bad none of its sequel are nearly as good as this one.
This is an excellent game that a Recapitation can't do justice. It's one part of an excellent series. I highly recommend Suikoden 1, 2, and 5. Suikoden 3 and 4 are decent, but I feel they lack the gravitas of the others. I find it ironic that Konami may have put in a copyright claim on this video when they've left this series out to dry despite many fans BEGGING for a resurrection. There's not been a Suikoden game since the PS2.
Well no true Suikoden series game at the least. There have been a few spin off titles that came out on the PSP/Nintendo DS. And yes, i'm pretty sure Konami has copyright claimed this. as I did a video on Suikoden II a while back and ended up removing it as i was making Konami ad revenue...
Playing this game is like reading a very good novel or like watching a good series about war and magic. The only rpg game I ever find to have the most replay value. Never gets old.
i'm still playing this game up until now. my favorite parties are: Sierra, Luc, Mazuz, Hero, Rina, McDohl. All in exact position. and yes, they're all advance in magic
To those who wants to play Suikoden 2 again you can still play it on emulators for PC. ePsx is one of the best Playstation emulator and you can download a ROM online just by searching. There are also TH-cam videos out here with tutorialson how to set-up emulators. I played S1, S2, S3, S4, S5, Suikoden Tactics and even Suikoden Genso 1 and 2 by emulators nowadays.
Its the best RPG I've ever played until now.. So much conflict between friendship, love, family and politics.. Please, do a video about the story of Clive & Elza and the story about Killey & Sindar Ruins.. And thank you for making this great video.. (ps. Sorry for my english because its not my native language)
Love it that you made this! but one thing kept me thinking... wasn´t apple just arriving at the destroyed Toto village? and pilika the "lone" survivor? I played through this game around 70 times and it always seemed that way to me
I questioned the same because its a bit unclear ... I think Apple was in the village to verify all the events firsthand (otherwise, its a massive coincidence she happened to be around ... was she just following Luca on foot somehow?), but since she's not from this village, Pilika is the village's 'sole survivor'.
just replayed until that scene and both versions can be correct the moment Apple appears is like she came after the attack happned since she askes the whole group "are you survivors" and "is anybody here" it could indicate that she saw the burned down village while she searched for clues about mathiu in the fort it seems like she was there all along since she sais "Yes it was horrible. He looted what he could...." this indicates that she hid like pilika and saw everything but again great work mate :D
I recently bought the crackhead trublue usb stick for my PS Classic and I’ve been discovering all these games I was too young to understand at that age (8 years oldv). Been playing Vagrant Story, Breath of Fire 3/4, Suikoden 2, Wild Arms and a bunch of other JRPGs. The only issue is I’m having trouble picking just one game to play.
best rpg ever
Best GAME ever in my opinion :)
100% agreed.

And I have to say this one is better than entire FF series...

I've been playing this game for 20 years and every time I play it again, I find something new. It's the only game (besides maybe ff7) that I'll go out of my way to do every minigame, sidequest and play through every different ending (of which there are many). This will always be my favorite game.
One of the best RPGs EVER. So full of stuff and such an epic yet personal story. :)
I'm with you on the lunar silverstar story request
Im just recently discover the channel but I can say it has a cool concept, also want to see a lunar silver star story video
Oh Lunar series are also pretty good games!
I’ll never get tired of playing this game over and over again.
I was 17, had a shitty day at work,
Popped into my local game store and I'd been waiting to play this for months. Ran home. Popped it in. I still remember the tingling sensation from the opening few seconds of the music alone with the aooooo and the violin drops below it. What a time.
BEST. RPG. EVER.
YOU. ARE. CORRECT.
Great recap
Viktor is a bear
He's also a dine and Dasher
For me, this is the best JRPG ever made and my most favorite game of all time! I just finished it again for the 11th time last February. Thanks for this video!
I played Suikoden 2 for 3 years barely touching any other games. I played it over and over again and I never got tired of it. Until such time that I need to move on in my life to pursue a career.
Your videos are awesome, Thanks
Suikoden II will likely always be my favorite JRPG.
Suikoden II is one of the best JRPG's ever made. A truly epic story.
My god, i can't watch anything related to Suikoden without crying
Jennifer Gutiérrez thought I am the only one
You must not have been able to figure out how to save Nanami either.
Timeless masterpiece
Please do the whole Suikoden series. Start with 1 :(
I'd rather he do it chronologically, with 4 first, God I want to play this whole series all over again because of this
Start with suiko 4
kniad do you mean walkthrough or what ? I can make it one if want.
4,tactic ,5,1,suikogaiden,2,3
I really love these videos
this is my number 1 rpg of life. Thank you!
Thank you... This video is fantastic
Back 2005, I was 11 yrs old when I first play the game and this is my first JRPG game.
i got goosebumps watching the intro.. this game is absolutely one of the best IF NOT the best JRPG, tactic game.. great story. nice art, and AMAZING OST!
I certainly agree with you in this!
Although Suikoden Tierkreis had many issues, it's story and soundtrack are really remarkable, and the villain was also something of respect for me.
I still remember my 3 teams for fighting Luca.
Flik, Miklotov, Camus, Nina, Tengaar, Rina
Viktor, Mondo, Anita, Kasumi, Sasuke, Eilie
Humphrey, Oulan, Gadget, Riou, Clive, Nanami
suikoden 5 is heavily underrated.
Playing this game is like reading a very good novel or like watching a good series about war and magic. The only rpg game I ever find to have the most replay value. Never gets old.
they need MAKE ALOT OF THIS TYPE GAME SERIOUSLY this great way to tell the story and explore the world.
i'm still playing this game up until now. my favorite parties are: Sierra, Luc, Mazuz, Hero, Rina, McDohl. All in exact position. and yes, they're all advance in magic
Hands down my favorite rpg ever!
Thank you for this
this was my favorite game thank you for this
To those who wants to play Suikoden 2 again you can still play it on emulators for PC. ePsx is one of the best Playstation emulator and you can download a ROM online just by searching. There are also TH-cam videos out here with tutorialson how to set-up emulators. I played S1, S2, S3, S4, S5, Suikoden Tactics and even Suikoden Genso 1 and 2 by emulators nowadays.
played this game like 5 times and still can't achieve clive's quest , feelsbadman
Its the best RPG I've ever played until now.. So much conflict between friendship, love, family and politics.. Please, do a video about the story of Clive & Elza and the story about Killey & Sindar Ruins.. And thank you for making this great video.. (ps. Sorry for my english because its not my native language)
I first played this during my middle school days. It's simple but great storyline helped me appreciate the game compared to JRPGs back in the days.
gosh, this game had a complicated plot and dark stories for a kid's game...
I even cried in one of their ending...
Love it that you made this!
but one thing kept me thinking... wasn´t apple just arriving at the destroyed Toto village? and pilika the "lone" survivor? I played through this game around 70 times and it always seemed that way to me
I questioned the same because its a bit unclear ... I think Apple was in the village to verify all the events firsthand (otherwise, its a massive coincidence she happened to be around ... was she just following Luca on foot somehow?), but since she's not from this village, Pilika is the village's 'sole survivor'.
just replayed until that scene and both versions can be correct
the moment Apple appears is like she came after the attack happned since she askes the whole group "are you survivors" and "is anybody here" it could indicate that she saw the burned down village while she searched for clues about mathiu
in the fort it seems like she was there all along since she sais "Yes it was horrible. He looted what he could...." this indicates that she hid like pilika and saw everything
but again great work mate :D
I recently bought the crackhead trublue usb stick for my PS Classic and I’ve been discovering all these games I was too young to understand at that age (8 years oldv).
Been playing Vagrant Story, Breath of Fire 3/4, Suikoden 2, Wild Arms and a bunch of other JRPGs.
The only issue is I’m having trouble picking just one game to play.
As always exelent video..
As tradition I have to say it wen its Xenoblade Chronicles...
Keep the good work..
I see a strong calling for Xenosaga/Xenoblade... I'm sort of determining which to do next honestly.
Whats the song that starts @24:10?
"The Time for Confrontation" (about 1 minute in) : tinyurl.com/yafmum7p
ty sir! Suikoden II has the most underrated soundtrack for an old-school RPG that I can think of
Loving it ONI! Also finally getting to mag carta next. Any future love to xenosaga?
