If you want a really tight helmet cover do exactly as Josh demonstrates but lightly dampen the cover before you fit it, pull it nice and tight and it will shrink slightly as it dries.

Nice video…80’s helmet missing two things, dealing with pin on rank and name on the helmet band!

Great channel, thanks very much for the time and effort you put in. My thought on putting the pleats facing backwards is to reduce the chance of branches getting caught up in your helmet when you're in bushy areas

I was in the 82d from 1978 -1981 and I had a love hate relationship with my M1. Then I was a Field Artillery officer from 1983 -1990. I really appreciated my Kevlar, especially on jump status.
I previously purchased an aged M1C medic paratrooper helmet that I loved. Now waiting ( will be her 22 June) for my 2d paratrooper M1C from you!
    All the Way!
    Mike

Interesting video and thank you for the practical help and instructions and also for the information on the differences that occurred in the late 1970s and 1980s era M1 Helmets. One of mine is a mish mash of different eras - the Liner, webbing, neck band and head band are late 1960s to early seventies, the Camo cover (Mitchell) is 1969, and the shell and chin straps are like the 1980s helmet in your video. Your advice about fitting an M1 Helmet was also very useful - thanks again.

For Parade Season in Berlin (17 June Allied Forces Day Parade and 4th of July Parade) we would soak the helmet covers in hot water, even boiling water in a microwave to get it hot enough then stretch the cover over the helmet.

Nice, didn't know you had a channel. I always kind of liked the look of the liner sticking out at the bottom. It's pretty pronounced in some historical photos. I'm prepared for this as I also have a gut I can use in the same way.
