  • Ratchet & Clank Month 2021 has entered its 2nd week, and the topic this time is my top 10 favorite Ratchet & Clank levels! The list can include any level from the series, with no restrictions on how many I can add from a game, and I'm not forced to pick a level from every game, this is only a top 10, after all. Choosing my 10 favorite levels was ridiculously hard, as there are so many amazing ones across the franchise, and each level has so many factors to take into consideration. What do you think your favorite R&C levels are? Please tell me down in the comments section!

Metropolis (from the original) is easily my favorite city (planet Kerwan). I can just visit it and hop around any way I want to. It has such a nice vibe, music theme, detailed structures, open environment and "liveliness". It just feels alive. And so much stuffs to collect and view. What a iconic planet! Then I also love a lot more, like Krell Canyon, Axiom City and Molonoth Field from ACIT, the 2016 Pokitaru, Aridia, Nebula G34, Blackwater City, Silver City from GC, Igliac from INT and alot more..

I think Daxx from UYA is quite underrated. Always appreciated that level for introducing military style warbots. Just felt like a shift in UYA from the terranoids to robot enemies

Loved your list, I have a soft spot for Todano and Boldan, love those planets and the soundtrack it's so awesome. Also Vapedia because of the emotion when Ratchet finally finds Clank and the Great Clock because of the emotion heavy plot twist in the near end.

Another cool thing about Torren IV is that when you first get there, you notic a time anomaly to your right. Then later in a Clank section you eliminate time anomalies on Torren IV and if you go back as Ratchet there will be a gold bolt where the anomaly was :)

Torren IV (R&C A Crack In Time)
Korgon Refinery Multiplayer version (R&C FFA)
    Metropolis multiplayer map (R&C FFA)
    Luminopolis (R&C All 4 one)

Unique list, I don't see many choose A4O or FFA levels as their favorites. Luminopolis is admittedly a pretty good first level though. I love the moons, but I feel like they're a bit too small to be among my favorites. All of The Great Clock would've made my list, but that kind of feels like cheating lol. Sectors 2 and 4 are honorable mentions though.

Guess I'll post my favorite levels, however a majority from the original trilogy.
10: Quartu- Fun level with a cool Giant Clank section, catchy theme, and has the bolt grabber, aka the one item you really want in this game.
9: Quanto (aka Zolar Forest)- Great first main level and has a nice relaxing theme while there is danger everywhere.
8: Koros- Bright, good music, tough but not overwhelming, and an absolute bolt heaven!
7: Veldin- I'm including both the final one in the original and the prologue in UYA. Both are in critical danger and only you have the ability to save it! With great background music of course.
6: Metropolis(original)- Good city adventure with the fun obstacle course and the heli-pack introduction.
5: Florana- This is actually my dad's favorite level. It is intriguing, spooky, and fresh with the whole jungle theme.
4: Blackwater City- Dark and mysterious with a deadly path and a badass soundtrack!
3: Mylon- My favorite final level with a challenging main path and a great final boss, plus an excellent score.
2: Boldan- Don't need to say why, it's motherf**king Boldan-!
1: Annihilation Nation- It's the most fun level in the series, with a creative obstacle course and a wide variety of arena challenges. Come back again and again.
That's all I have, enjoy your life.

    • @arcaedonluminos666
      @arcaedonluminos666  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Thanks, enjoy yours as well! Nice list with consice explanations. Quartu's theme is definitely a bop, Florana is one of the better UYA levels, love the Nefarious fight on Mylon, and Annihilation Nation is plenty of fun. I do prefer Deadlocked's Battledome, however, where the combat is peak and the challenges even more interesting. Blackwater City is one of my honorable mentions, I have fond memories of drowning. XD

Honestly, i dont know i have any level what i hate. Probably some Clank sections (Orxon or all the parts with the monkey, they all too slow for me). Unfortunately i never playing with the future trilogy coz i hadnt ps3, but i will soon with ps plus. Great list btw. 🫡

Ok, so ive narrowed it down what levels are my personal favorites. I don't really have much criteria except these are the levels i know i love to revisit and am always excited when i get to return to them on a new playthrough.
I have yet to play Rift Apart, so i don't know if there are levels from that game that would be my favorite. Ill update the list if any levels from RA makes my top ten.
    10. Darkwater Cove - Planet Merdegraw
Quest For Booty might be short, but the levels here are pretty good. My favorite is easily Darkwater Cove. I love how it starts on the beach, kinda like what happend when Slag killed Darkwater. The puzzles are really fun, i edpecially love mixing drinks and playing tunes. Allthough the puzzles are abit too easy even for me. Its kinda spooky when Pirates catch up in the end. I do consider Lythoin Caves to be part of this level, but its not too much. Its pretty allright. I also like that in the end, we see their fleet leaving and its fun to chase after.
    9. Zolar Forest - Planet Quantos
Zolar Forest is just plain beautiful. Like, my gosh its so beautiful! Its fun to travel through the Forest with Qwark. For some reason, i love the sound you hear from those Time Anomalies.
The Fongoid Village is a great place for sure. I can see why this place was voted the best kept secret in Polaris. Its abit of a shame there are'nt a little more to do, but its still good. The Temple is also great.
    8. The Great Clock
Clank's spiritual home is what i like to call visually wow! Its such a wonder to behold and i love exploring this place. Its mostly linear, but i can forgive that. Fixing time anomalies and learning more of Clank's past is so much fun. Its also here that Clank levels are FINALLY perfected and the Chronoscepter is a fantastic tool to use.
Its also a great place to face Azimuth in what is my favorite boss in the entire series.
One tiny complaint is Computer voice. Its kinda annoying when its repeating the same things over and over again, but besides that, The Great Clock is awesome.
    7. Silver City - Planet Boldan
A fantastic level presented to us via a super fun cutscene with good old Billy. Ive got nostalgia for this level. Using the Levitator is fun and the Grindrail section is so much fun, especially using it to get to the Insomniac Museum.
The music slaps too and the main path is challenging but great. I love the attention to detail with the Thugs-4-Less playing rock, paper, scissor. A shame ye have to leave, but i just finish this level and come back to it sometimes just to look around and fly through the underground traffic.
    6. Megacorp Armory - Planet Todano
Another nostalgic level, this one with a score that really slaps! Ive loved this level for years. I remember going around with tour group, pretending to be a very strict bodyguard who killed anyone who got left behind XD.
The upper area is great too, especially the path that takes me to the wonderful Sheepinator.
I love the visuals too, so good. And man, the theme that plays here is SO good.
    5. Outpost L51 - Planet Sargasso
A beautiful, primal world this be. Its a great level. Its so good that they fixed the collectathon from UYA. Hunting Grunthors is alot of fun, but they can be intimidating when they walk towards me the first times around.
Those giant Trogolosaurs are a sight to behold and being able ta climb some of em is even better. The main path is ok, its cool that we get the sweet Alpha Disruptor! I really dig a level like this and Outpost L51 def is one of my favorites from Tools.
    4. Pirate Camp - Kreeli Comet
My absolute favorite level from Tools of Destruction! The Kreeli Comet is just so good! I love the gorgeous visuals and the blue colors makes it even better. Fighting the Pirates is always just a fun time for me. Meeting Iris and being able to ask her some questions afterwards is a great detail. To say nothing of the banger of a theme that plays here! Its so catchy, fun and err piracy. Kreeli Comet comes packed with a great amount of nostalgia for me and love this level so much.
    3. Gemlik Base - Oltanis Orbit
My favorite level from the original Ratchet and Clank. Boasting fantastic visuals and a great theme that really captures the feeling of being in outer space. I love traversing this peaceful moonbase and it ends with very good boss battle against Qwark.
Easily still my favorite level from the og RAC game.
    2. Allgon City - Planet Damosel
And this is my favorite level from Going Commando. Each path leads to pure fun. Wheter its the boss battle against the MotherShip, the excellent Grindrail section or the main path, its all a fun time. I find using the Sheepinator here quite useful against the Protopets, but the Mini Nuke is also needed sometimes.
And once, the music is pure gold! So catchy and memorable!
The grindrail section is so great and those teleporting trains are simple, but honestly quite genius. An absolute masterpeace of level if ya ask me.
    1. Molonoth Fields - Planet Torren IV
Kinda suprised to see Molonoth Fields here, but i just can't get enough of it. I really like desert/wasteland ish levels, and Torren IV does it so well. A great theme plays as i gaze out upon the remains of grand structures left behind by the Fongoids eons ago. Traversing this junkyard ish planet is so fun and wonderful, talking to the unique Vullards, going through the Hollow and hearing the machines at work is so nostalgic and fun. Meeting Azimuth, chasing him down and then a great cutscene was such a great way to introduce this new, amazing character. And as if all that was'nt enough, its here we get the amazing Hooverboots, my favorite gadget in the entire series! Also, when you activate them and hear them boost, its quite nice.
Torren IV is a level i can revisist again and again and never tire. Its a beautiful and visually pleasing planet that i truly love.

I would've included The Great Clock, but it kind of feels like cheating to include all of it. Sectors 2 and 4 and maybe even the finale are strong honorable mentions though. 10: Definitely not one of my favorite levels it has some good atmosphere and it's decent I guess It's not one of my favorites
09: Again far from one of my favorites but it's great for the bolt heaven aspect
08: My favorite final level! This is in my top 3 R&C levels, the atmosphere is great and that final boss is hard but so satisfying to take down.

Blizar Prime and Savali are honestly levels I didn't particularly enjoy. I didn't enjoy Blizar Prime primarily because of Jim, the annoying Chief Engineer and the general atmosphere of the intact Blizon. I liked the sections in the destroyed Blizon but they didn't last long. Savali is also quite boring for me because of the atmosphere. I tried to compare it to Tabora from Going Commando and couldn't understand why I didn't like it so much initially. Then, I realised it was the soundtrack. On Tabora, you had this amazing soundtrack you could hear while navigating through the unknown. On Savali, on the other hand, the soundtrack is really bland, almost non-existant, and since most of the map is visible from any spot, there isn't much exploration to be done in the end. The planets I enjoyed the most in that game were both Corson Vs and Sargasso

  • @remus907

Number 5 is very nice, but the "technical capabilities" arent so special. Crack in time has done this on a ps3. Its not about the load times, because the levels are all just stored in the ram ready to be used.
It is however a great feat towards insomniac's devs and how they are able to optimise the levels and use as much of that memory in such an efficient manner.
