    Good reaction.
Someday I'm going to gather a group of metalheads in a room and ask them what metal is. Then I'll sit down and eat popcorn.

She makes the mistake of thinking cheerfulness has no place in metal. She makes the mistake of thinking EC is mocking just the happy stuff. EC is simultaneously mocking IT ALL as well as fully committing themselves to performing all those genres excellently. The woman in this reaction is trapped inside her expectations. Her mind is closed. Thank goodness the rest of the metal/music world has embraced this brand new Metal genre (Rob Zombie, Metallica, Korn, Dragonforce, Rob Halford, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Tom Morello, F. Hero, Bobyslam, etc).

It's always so odd to hear people wanting babymetal to be literally like every other metal band out there:D. The cute singing is what makes them stand out and while they can do some edgyness too (momometal literally growls in this song) I myself am so glad that they don't over use that. There is literally millions of bands out there if I want to be screamed at but there is only one babymetal:D

@@ExUSSailor Thank you for writing this. And it’s worth noting that since its inception, BabyMetal has constantly included different genres of music in everything they do. They are novel in this regard. They do no rest on their laurels, instead always inventing. They astonish me.

Must be pretty depressing living in such a dark worldview. Hope the reactor lady is able to break out of that mindset eventually 🙏

If Babymetal just did growling and negative/evil style metal they would be boring and they would never have been so popular worldwide. Thankfully Koba Metal knew the extreme mix of Metal and Kawaii would dominate the world. And the songs produced for Babymetal are almost always different and not what you would expect. We may criticize Kobametal for some sketchy business decisions (like hiding kami band behind masks), but ultimately we still love the man's genius.

The fusion of jpop and metal is what Babymetal was founded on so I don't see them going in another direction anytime soon but I think with the addition of Momo they're starting to explore some harsher vocals.

  • @lasmirandadennsiewillja9435
    @lasmirandadennsiewillja9435 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

One is having a good time, one is busy not being like other girls.
No, really. It's fair to not like something, whether it's popular or niche. Frankly, I only have three Electric Callboy songs on my playlists. The rest is fine but the main appeal to me comes from the videos and live atmosphere when they perform, and even more than their music, I like the guys. They're fun. I also respect the hard work, how they actively work on staying down to earth, and aside from Nico, everyone plays multiple instruments, and well.
The only Babymetal song I put on (so far) is Monochrome. Not because it's metal or whatever, but because I like it. So the horses I have in this race are limited and very small.
That said, I have a hell lot of respect for BM. If I tried their dance routines for three minutes, I'd be on crutches the rest of the year. The idol business is no joke. Yeah, you can call it all manufactured but that's like saying wrestlers are weak and unathletic because the fights are scripted. It's tight schedules, always smiling, always performing when on the clock, it's staying fit and pretty, it's just a lot of work. And just bc the girls aren't playing instruments it doesn't mean the music falls out of a tree, there's a band involved. They've also been doing this since they were, how old were they again when it all started, 12 or 13? I suspect the only girls that go through more drill at an even earlier age are Russian gymnasts and dancers.
And that's my point. Dislike whatever. We can't force ourselves to like stuff. But like or dislike because that's what you happen to do, not because you want to maintain an image. That attitude should die once we hit our twenties. But do not make "I like this!" as the only valuable parameter for good music and good artists. Neither of us is important enough for that.
Boiling it down, there are three ways to like and dislike art:
Dislike it because it's objectively bad
Dislike it but respect the craft and effort behind it, aka tell subjective from objective
Dislike it and claim that therefore, something is bad.
The first is fine, however, keep in mind that one man's trash is another man's banana bread. Bad but guilty pleasure/resonates for some reason and so bad it's good happens a lot.
The second is great and enriching. It also makes for the best attitude when reacting to stuff.
The third is frustrating for everyone and doesn't add input, value, or entertainment.
Drop the arrogance. Try to see why some things that work for so many don't work for you. Not to change your preferences, just to understand what's going on over there. If you figure out why so many things you aren't into click for others, you'll gain a new understanding and appreciation for the artform in general (be it music or art or whatever), but you'll also look at the stuff you like from a different angle, and learn to appreciate it even more.
Just a thought, because I think "it's not my jam at all, I prefer it harder, gritter, less glittery, but I can see that they do this...and what it does for the genre...and why it's a gateway drug into metal for new fans who" (just as an example) is a lot more insightful than "Icky, pop girls who don't sound like 60-year-old men who have breathed air and whiskey since their mid-teens give me cooties!" attitudes.

The song is literally about going out to a club and having fun with your friends. The part with BabyMetal that was found too cutesy was meant to represent that. I’m not one to say what somebody else should or shouldn’t like, but if someone already goes into a reaction predisposed to not liking a part of it, they WILL find something to try and match their predisposition, regardless of context.

I know that BABYMETAL's concept of "cute" is not to your taste, so why are you reacting to it when you know it's frustrating? If you like songs that make you groan, why do you bother to react to BABYMETAL? You were imitating BABYMETAL's cute parts in an insulting way, right? why? Maybe this is a reaction for antis? @Zedem0n หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Everybody can growl after going through a studio process. People need to stop with this fantasy that Momo "can" growl and it's unique. It's just a "thing" Koba thought to give Momo to further amplify her acceptance to the fanbase. The growls you hear are evidently overly processed. Su & Moa could do it, but the band's direction is going to push the narrative that Momo is the growler because of obvious reasons. It's a good idea, but let's not be fools about it either... When Momo growls live and it's not an obvious backtrack I'm ready to eat my shoes without even seasoning them with salt and pepper.

What the hell mocks anything. It is a core component of both bands that they don't subscribe to a everything is so bad world. Fuethermore Babymetal was designed with a Single market in mind Japan. It were a male only market and the age got oldr and older, furthermore it was a tiny nicht market, and they wanted to attract more people to this market, so the Fusion with other Elements. And I can tell you Electric Callboy has the same Fusion ideas in mind. Don't recreate the same old songs in a continuous look but mix it with other elements.

I don't really understand. Hanabie does include a lot of kawaii/harajuku elements in their songs and visuals as well. So if you don't like when BM does it what makes you like it when Hanabie does it? Sounds a bit contradictory. The cutesie element is predominant in Hanabie. Hanabie is definitely more 'punk' in their attitude and sound but the one thing you declared you didn't like about BABYMETAL is everywhere in Hanabie's music and visuals.
Also if you make the point of saying EC makes a mockery of the clean/boysband/pop parts of their song, you also easily forget that the same can be said about the more "metal"/"brutal" parts of their songs. You could ABSOLUTELY make the case that they "mock" the metal bands. If you don't see it then you're not being honest with yourself. When EC goes brutal screamo saying "RATATATA" do you think it does not make a bit of a "mockery" of metal? I mean, I understand not liking certain things but you need to be consistent with your criticism.

This kawaii stuff it feels always uncomfortable to me. I mean this are now adult women, it's time to move on. That what I like about Hanabie. Yes, they have small portion of this too, but mainly they are playing music and showing their great talent. And even there, when it is too much I don't like it neither. (like in the video - not the song- Pardon I have to go now or in Be the gal) That doesn't mean that I hate Baby Metal (in music "hate" is the false term anyway, you like it or don't),for me it is only let,'s say an unnecessary obstacle to like it.
