    Great tutorial Rob. Shame about the adverse weather. I always overlap by a third and get good results with Lightroom. Recently started using an EM5 ii and have found your tutorials a great help in getting to grips with this system. Yet to try a pano with it but have done a fair few with my D610.

    Very nice video. Beautiful shots in the end. The panoramas at the end of the video are excellent. Vibrant colours and pleasing vistas. I shot my cars with multiple row multiple column panorama. Some call it the Brenizer Method. I think you mentioned in one of your videos that you bought a new car recently. I think it would serve as a great subject for a panoramic image with Brenizer Method. Please make a tutorial of that shoot IF you like this idea.

    • @RobTrek

  • @hedydd2

    It is a pity that Olympus don't automatically stitch in camera. Sony and Panasonic and indeed Fuji automatically take the shots and stitch for an instant panorama. They sometimes create stitching errors and its worth chimping to check, but around 80%+ of the time they do a great job. Anyone who has a good smartphone will be familiar and happy with the process. I only print to A4 size, if at all, so my wife's Apple iPhone 7+ panoramic shots taken in New Zealand the other day print just fine.
    Your method can undoubtedly result in better results, but for most of us, is it worth the effort? With our Olympus cameras we have no choice of course and its a skill all worth learning and your video, as always, helps a lot. Thanks.

    • @RobTrek
      @RobTrek  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the feedback. Actually, my Olympus TG-5 does in-camera stitching. Seems like the could do a firmware update to include this in the em1.iii and em1.2. as they use the same processing engine. Probably wouldn't work on older cameras, as the processing power required is quite high, or so I assume. For now, we can manually shoot and stitch, which has its advantages of controlling exposure, adding art filters, doing hdr, etc...

  • @kimginnerup5819

    Panasonic has a cool feature for pana..shots...it will superimpose each shot over the last shot so you can line it up...in other words it show on the viewfinder, the last shot you took, but you can see thru the last image just enough to let you line it up.

    • @RobTrek
      @RobTrek  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Olympus didn't do a great job with their pano feature. It's functional but a little bit of a pain to have to go into workspace to stitch back together. Guess it's better than nothing.

    Oh, I see! Never knew this mode existed since my E-M1 Mark II doesn't have this mode!? My approach to panoramas is: Take two rows of images and use a stitching software like ICE from Microsoft or Powerlink Photo - because of the two rows I can more crop in and can choose the best aspect ratio for the panorama. Sometimes it is hard to see what should be in the panorama and what not. I did some really crazy Panoramas from Austrian mountains with around 65 stitched images aligning multiple rows.

    • @RobTrek
      @RobTrek  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I don't see it on the EM1. Not a really a problem, easy enough to do without it. I never tried more than 8 stitched photos, but always thought it would be neat to do those gigapixel photos. I'll have to practice a bit and do a tutorial on it. Parallax issues are a pain.

    • @michaelweichhardt
      @michaelweichhardt 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RobTrek I can send you a sample :) to take a look. It's all about the stitching software. Mine was without much hassle - all worked handheld and without problems. On the mountain pic, I used Burst Mode Low and simply shot everything in the scene in straight lines.

    • @RobTrek

    I thought you were using Olympus Workspace, and in fact it looks quite similar, but when I click on the "Panorama" icon, I'm told, "The function does not support this file type". I now see that Olympus Viewer seems to have been discontinued. So, do you know if there's any way to make panoramas in Olympus Workspace?

    • @RobTrek
      @RobTrek  ปีที่แล้ว

      You have to use the in-camera panorama assist feature. This marks the images so they will work with Workspace panorama feature. Not all cameras have this feature. I have a video here: th-cam.com/video/mB6CSJNFJ8A/w-d-xo.html

When I opened the images in Workspace, they were labelled as parts of a panorama, just as you showed in Olympus Viewer, but when I selected the Panorama icon, I got the message mentioned above. I'm looking forward to using this feature.

    On fuji or sony cameras its so much easier, on fuji for example it is great! I guess olympus should try to improve it on future camera models.
    By the way, what do you think its better regarding IQ, LR or Olympus viewer? Any advantages on using olympus viewer?

      Maybe my experience will be useful because I had the same incognita, Lr has more tools, Oly works better with your files, but with less editing possibilities (that was my reading) ..probe Capture One and is very agile (does not recognize the cooreccion Oly lens as Lr) but it is very, very fluid ... it hurts that I could not get used to their tools, I .ORF use Lr and JPG Oly

    • @RobTrek
      @RobTrek  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not familiar with the other brands, but do you know if they let you do hdr, bracketing, art filters, etc... combine with pano? As for LR vs OV, I found OV to import and convert a slightly cleaner image from raw. You can also apply lots of settings similar to what's available in the camera when shooting raw. This makes it easier to learn what the camera will output when using filters, adjust sharpness, curves, etc... So I do use OV time to time for that reason. But generally speaking LR + PS make for better workflow and managing pictures.
