  • M tooth in oak is exhausting. need to measure out my footing and get consistent. and need to step away from the saw to open myself up a bit. I was crowding myself out I think.
the deck in the back isn't set up for use yet. that that will be the chopping/sawing deck. I finally got a saw bunk set up. 16" from the ground it keeps the bottom log. The M tooth did well in the hard wood today. I'll be setting up the other crosscuts soon and tuning them up. I have a Disston perforated Lance tooth that is in almost NOS condition that will be set up for general purpose use but more toward softer woods. then the tuttle and champion tooth saws will be set up for oak as we have a ton of that around here.

Good stuff. That's a clever frame setup

Thanks Kurt! It's made from stuff I had at the hardware store haha I can't weld at home, but I can bolt stuff together! I based it kinda on the engineered for axemen collapsible saw stand and another one I saw on a video.

Your back foot is lifting off the ground, that is a big problem I struggled with. Try to not shift your weight over your front foot as much and focus on using that back foot to push of the ground to drive the rotation of your body. You might also want to narrow your feet a bit. Keep up the good work!

I'll definitely try keeping more push through the back leg, coming a little closer together will let me keep my weight more centered and allow better push/pull I think. I'm kinda winging it at this point haha thank you for the advice. I'll try putting that into practice and post some more videos soon!

Stance is to wide. You use mainly shoulders, pecs and triceps. Push from the ground with backleg when you go forward and push with front leg when you go back.
Also wear some shoe with spikes.
As you know shoulders, pecs and tri's just die. One rep you still pushing it and next rep nothing left. Thats why from the ground up.

I got out sawing a little yesterday and shortened my stance about 6-8". It definitely got my legs into it more. You're definitely right about the arms/upper body doing the work there, once I gassed out, I really couldn't shift the saw all that much. But I'll keep working the stance and legs into it more. Thanks Willie!
