I would leave the painting in the frame. It looked good on camera in the frame. And oh my goodness I am crying about the bread board. That was so sweet of her to share that with you and you have some thing from your husbands family from Germany. So glad you had a wonderful trip. Thank you for sharing.😊
Having been able to travel to Germany a handful of times (with students, family, or alone), I understand the love you quickly developed for Germany!! It is a beautiful place and there are SO many wonderful people there!
I am loving the Germany videos! I lived in Hamburg, Germany for 2 years serving a mission for my church. I LOVED it. I shortly later met and married my husband who’s Father was born and raised in Hamburg, Germany 🇩🇪. Just 2 blocks from where I lived. I rode my bike by the apartment he lived in for his entire youth, every single day. In fact, the first time I went to meet my husband’s dad, he was on the phone with some church members I had been working with over there! What a small world! I knew then and there I would marry that man’s boy. And I did. We have been married for 28 years. We married just 4 months after we met. Sounds CRAZY when I say it, but when you know, you know!! I didn’t choose Germany to serve my mission in. I said I would go anywhere in the world. I spoke pretty good Spanish after 6 years of taking it in school. So I assumed I would be sent there by my church. But I was called to Germany. So I learned another language and fell in love with that country. I know God had his hand in sending me there. It had set the seed to meet this half German boy, and not be afraid of the culture differences. God is SO, SO GOOD!! Thanks for the wonderful videos and bringing back so many memories. And your love story is Beautiful, just Beautiful!
Your thrift finds are all wonderful. Those paintings are beautiful. I live in an area that is mostly German people. A large segment of them are third and fourth generation, but there's another large segment that are first generation, born and partly raised in Germany. They now have children who are first generation Canadians. I love the warmth and kind heartedness of the Germans.
I’m so happy that you all got to visit Germany and family. I knew you’d come home with great finds! That’s how I felt about leaving Italy, a piece of my heart is still there with my family I’ll never get to see again but hoping they saw Jesus in me and I’ll see them in heaven.
Th thrift store looked more organized than ones in N. America, at least the ones in my area. Love the big round bread board at the end. The fact that it came from Mike's great grandmother makes it extra special.
Mike’s Oma was probably so delighted you loved the bread board and knew you would cherish it.❤️ I am Canadian and when we travel to the southern United States for a few months, I do a little thrifty. My husband always reminds me that I have to make room for it in our 24 foot RV. 🤷♂️😂 It is always nice to bring home something special to remind you of your previous travels. Thanks for sharing.❤️
Andrea ~ Thank you for sharing this trip with us ! I have always wanted to go to Germany and Wales. My Mother’s parents came from there. I have always said my “love” of stones, old wood and cool temps come from my German and Welsh blood running through me. I cried watching the video. 🥰 My heart melted when I saw all the stone buildings, foundations, etc! All the words in German. You made this old lady happy with your filming ….thank you ! I’m so “thankful” that Mike was able to take his beautiful family to his home country and meet family over there. Precious indeed is an understatement, right? God bless ~
Andrea what a great market! The paradise of any lover of antiques and second-hand objects. I loved the crockery. Especially the collection with old green figures. Everything is wonderful! Thanks for sharing this too. It has been a wonderful journey through your husband's beautiful land. Blessings and much love ❤😍🌹
Especially love the copper molds and paintings. I would keep the small one in the frame or keep the frame so you can display it both ways as it suits your needs. Tip: when I travel internationally, I purposely take one pair of older shoes I’m ready to replace and some clothing I will soon donate. I donate there near the end of trip and this gives me luggage space for treasures. Shoes are especially good because they’re heavy and bulky. 🤣😉
We lived in The Netherlands for 4 years and had the best time traveling through Western Europe. We brought back the best treasure our daughter Hanna Eve!
I love everything you bought! Leave the painting in the frame, it looks perfect and beautiful together!! I am from Poland and I love European flea markets. I love your taste and I think you are just awesome! I love watching your videos!
Andrea, your face just lights up when talking about Germany and your husband's family! I'm so happy that all of you got to experience such an amazing quaint part of the world! You will keep this memory in your heart forever! You brought home some amazing decor for memories also! Lovely story Andrea! Thank you so much for sharing this with us! 🤍🙏
I’m sure your husband’s family is just elated that he has a such a wonderful wife & 4 adorable boys ! Such a blessing to have been able to make that trip ! I love the things you bought - I would have bought so much more, even if I’d had to throw out the kid’s shoes - lol ! I thought for sure you would have bought a bunch of the copper at 12:39 - you seemed so overjoyed at seeing them - I was thinking they would have looked so cute just displayed in a big jar or even a wooden bowl - I do love the ones you did get ! I went to Monte Carlo one year & we took a train through Italy & got to go to a huge flea market there - I was pretty young at the time & I wasn’t really looking for the same sort of things I would today, but it was fun - I’ve always loved flea markets & have been to a number of European ones, but like I said, I was younger & just had not really developed my style or the love of vintage that I have now - it would be a whole different ball game now - lol ! I’m from New Orleans originally & whenever I go back to visit with my sister, we go to our old favorite thrift stores & at the end of one trip, she took a picture of me in our hotel room sitting on the floor in front of my suitcase, with my glasses on, chin on hand, trying to figure out how in the world to pack all the goodies I had bought - it was quite intense, for sure ! So wonderful that you were gifted that beautiful bread board from Mike’s grandmother - I know one day you have a wonderful, special daughter-in-law to pass it along to who will cherish it, too - the girls your sons marry will have won the mother-in-law lottery - you are such a beautiful woman, inside & out - thanks for sharing your wonderful trip !
The art looked so amazing! My heritage is dutch so I was thrilled that you got the painting with the windmill. Last week I enjoyed hearing the story of how you and your husband met and how the Lord brought him to Christ!!
So happy you brought back a couple paintings! So many precious ones. I like the painted board in the frame, but I am sure you will find what works best. Perhaps youcould rub and buff the color to adjust. The board from Mike's grandmother is such a treasure!
Hi, I am from Germany and it was so nice to see you walking around in the thrift shops. Since my youth I am collecting antiques and in the seventies and eightis there where nearly every weekend big antique markets on open ground. Anyway, these times have changed...also in Germany. Young people usually prefer modern style. A little tip for you: you can fresh up your dirty oil paintings by taking cotton balls, spit on it and careful rub with it the balls the paintings. I did this procedure with my old paintings and the colours turned out clear and fresh again, but it took a time.
We lived in Deutschland for six years and we could have lived there for the rest of our lives, we enjoyed it so much. I’m so happy that you and your family were able to visit. Hoping you are able to visit again.
There is something super special about thrifting and antiquing in Europe. We went to Scotland last month and hit up some charity shops and antique stores. I came home with some amazing treasures....including an antique watercolor 😍
Hi Andrea, the little boards are often used to serve a fast meal on--sandwiches, toast, fruit/crackers etc. We have a set from Germany and I use them to serve cinnamon "butterfly" toast for my grand children. There is a little wooden stand and the each hang as a set on the stand. Mine are all the same size, but same premise...
Awe! I heard your ♥️ heard! When you have family that are there your heart left a piece there! I know I have a son there with two of my beautiful grandbabies in Germany! He lives in a small town call, Prum! It is amazing beautiful with castles and churches, with all the history, I think back, we all came from there! We just left to come here, our forefathers?!? But I know it’s so hard leaving, mostly our loved ones and to those that captured my heart, I know is forever! I pray though one day my son and his lil family will come home, I just the miles between us!!!
I loved your video of Germany. I lived there for three years. I loved it. I miss Germany so much. I visited Germany again a few years ago. I bought so much and mailed it home. It was expensive but so worth it.
Your three wooden boards are most probably bread boards. Germans often eat their breakfast and supper (bread, meat, cheese, jam) on wooden boards such as these rather than on plates. Quaint!
What a delightful trip! The family bread board is my favorite. The history and knowing a relative owned and used that bread board is priceless! So meaningful.
❤ 4 Euro 90 is right In my area in the north of germany its not very usual buy second hand. But i love it and it makes me so happy to find special Things. The board is perfect looking. Thanks for your content. ☺️ Have a nice weekend.
Oh Andrea, such beautiful memories. Thank you for sharing your stories with us. ❤️ As far as the little painting, I think it's absolutely beautiful WITH the frame!! You stated it was actually more silver than gold, so I would use rub & buff to make the frame color work with the artwork. Thru the camera lens as we see them together, it's stunning!! May God continue to bless your sweet family, both in the USA and in Germany 🙏
I started crying at the end with the gift that Mike's Oma gave you.Everything you bought was so awesome.I love both the paintings I would leave the one in the frame.😊
I never been, my military friends have. They loved it there. I’m so happy you’re children got to see there great grand ma. Hope you and your family can return there next year.
What treasures! When I saw the bread boards I thought if she doesn’t pick up some of those I’m going die. When I’ve gone to other countries I’ve thrown away my clothes in order to bring more stuff back. I’m glad your family had such a wonderful time.
Andrea thank you so much for sharing your beautiful experience in Germany and all your amazing treasures. The cutting board that Oma gave you is so pretty.
Oh my goodness…. that was such an honor to be entrusted with that beautiful family heirloom breadboard 💕 from the homeland of Germany!! I think the painting and frame belong together.🖼️ My paternal ancestors are from Germany and I was blessed to be given a framed sampler my 3x great grandmother stitched in German of her children’s birth dates. Such an emotional experience to actually hold theses family treasures in our hands isn’t it.💕 My daughter shares your video’s with me. Guess I need to subscribe to your channel.😊 Blessings to you and your family.
What a wonderful opportunity to visit your husband's homeland !!! I used to live in Germany. My dad was in the Air Force and we lived I Ramstein! I was very young, but will never forget it!!!
(I need to enter a twelve step program for my cutting board addiction.) I love to USE them all,so I give them a light sanding, soak them in bleach for a few minutes ( because the sanding opens the grain) then rub them with mineral oil. (That oil is food safe and doesn’t turn rancid) I then feel comfortable using them for food and the oil helps them maintain their antique look. Your set of three boards would look cute looped together with a piece of twine, then hung on something.
My husband is in the military and we have been to Germany a few times. It is so beautiful! While there we also visited Belgium and we went to a flea market by the river and there were these old keys, some were huge. I always wish I had bought them! You had some great finds!
Love the oil and vinegar. Perfect. Cooper items are sweet. I love every wood item…..basement? Great ladle. Love the artwork. Not sure about the frame. The family breadboard is the best!
Andrea, this is one of my absolute favorite videos. I'm so happy that your family had this trip & I can completely relate. A few years back my husband & I went to England. This has been a life long dream for me. I loved the Cotswold villages sooo much & have some thrifting regrets of not purchasing. Your finds are perfect, I vote for keeping the painting in the frame! With your decorating style, the contrast of the frame being ornate will really make it a focal point. I think it's beautiful in your bedroom.
So amazing Andrea, wow! I would have had such a hard time not wanting to buy it all. What treasure! I want to go to Germany to look up where my great grandmother and grandfather lived. It looks beautiful there. The cutting board from Oma is the best thing ever. Your truly blessed.
Just loved watching your videos about going to Germany, and about what you found. And, what a sweet story of how you and your now husband, fell in love. God is so good...all the time. ❤ Fun to find you, especially being a fellow Michigander. 🍂
Hello, I'm Brazilian and I love your videos. I met your channel a short time ago and I'm marathoning your videos, you transmit me something very good a joy I think you very special! 😘😘
Wow? what a trip, nice finds, it is always hard to try and bring things home from a different country. I am so happy you were able to visit family and really enjoy the different culture. The painting are the best.
A very long time ago I lived in Germany, while my hubby was in the service. It is where I fell in love with thrifting and antiquing. I saw so many things that I remembered seeing. That outdoor shed was fabulous! I was like you, it was my happy place too. You brought home some beautiful pieces. Love the painting and the other picture. Lovely! Well, guess you will have to plan a trip for next year! 😂❤❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏Oh & take empty suitcases!😮😮😮
I visit Europe once a year with my sister and went to boarding school in Frankfurt , Germany for high school. We go with minimal clothing and shop, shop shop.
Once again a beautiful video. How wonderful to see the joy Germany gave you. Both of my children spent time in the military there and loved it. Thanks for sharing your great buys there too.
What a fantastic haul. Would love to go there. So glad your whole family was able to go. Loved all your finds. I would keep the one painting in its frame. It gives it more meaning. Thanks for sharing.
Oh my goodness … the treasures in that massive Antique Shed were endless!! Thanks so much for sharing! ❤

Me too!
Or you could keep the frame and paint it a colour that you like.
I would leave it original. ❤
Yes! That frame is stunning.
I would leave it too!
May I suggest that you add labels to the back of the pieces so future you (and future generations) will know where and when it came from.

My husband is in the military and we have been to Germany a few times. It is so beautiful! While there we also visited Belgium and we went to a flea market by the river and there were these old keys, some were huge. I always wish I had bought them! You had some great finds!
I love the art in the frame! It adds to the character of the piece.❤
What a treasured trip!!!
Love the frame!! It goes so well! You can touch up that frame or do your magic diy to make it more gold! ❤
Love the oil and vinegar. Perfect. Cooper items are sweet. I love every wood item…..basement? Great ladle. Love the artwork. Not sure about the frame. The family breadboard is the best!
wonderful to be there! wonderful for you to go on a family holiday xo lori
Fun to find you, especially being a fellow Michigander. 🍂

I love Germany!! I lived in Eppenbrunn for 10 months while my husband was in the U.S. Army. I would love to go back for a visit.
