Unrelated to this video, but last year around this time you had some suggestions on some fun books for Valentine's day. It was a great help come gift time in case you're thinking of doing it again (and if not, that's cool too)
Getting my TBR list ready 😂 I love love love zombies. The Living Dead was such a good one and Afterlife With Archie as well 😍 Definitely checking out Zombieville, and Elegy for the Undead.
Thanks for the recs, Rachel! Maybe because I'm in the midst of a winter storm, but the first zombie stories that popped in my head were A Zombie Christmas and A Zombie Christmas 2 by Anthony Renfro. They are short MG/YA novellas and fun, fast reads.
I really enjoy zombie books!! Zombieville sounds great! I have The Living Dead but haven’t read it yet (so big!) Afterlife with Archie was so much fun.
I absolutely loved Survivor Song and will be getting The Living Dead this weekend. Have you read David Wellington's zombie books? Monster Island, Monster Nation, Monster Planet. He also has an excellent vampire series which starts with 13 bullets.
I loved AFTERLIFE WITH ARCHIE! I thought it was great how the comic played everything straight instead of going for laughs. I enjoyed the same writer's CHILLING ADVENTURES OF SABRINA, too.
I still need to get to the Sabrina graphic novels. I never liked her comics (compared to the normal "gang") which is probably why I haven't prioritized it
Thank you so much for this video 🤠 I’m a huge fan of the zombie horror genre, so this was an excellent list for me to check out. I’ve only read Survivor Song, my only Book I’ve read from this author, I’ve been meaning to check out more. Thank you again 🤠
@@TheShadesofOrange hm, someone else recently must have mentioned it; or it came up on a library recommendation. Afterlife with Archie doesn't work on Kobo. Some squares cut off. I'll have to read it on my laptop. No biggie.
I might check out The Living Dead, and I will definitely be picking up Skin Food. I hadn't heard of the latter before, it sounds interesting, so thank you for that recommendation!
Great video, because it's a fresh set of recommendations for what can be a tired sub-genre. Since The Walking Dead show over-stayed its welcome (hot take??) I've moved on from Zombies 🧟♂️. But I would definitely give Living Dead and Survival Song a try.
Survivors Song I realllllly loved! It wasn't really a zombie book, to me it was the beautiful love btwn a mother and her child... and what said mother will do for that child!
How is the character development with the living dead? It seems switching between many entirely different characters from around the world would stop any attachment to the characters? Was curious.
Okay, I am so tired of zombies, but Skin Food sounds like a must-read. I know you often do a Valentine's Day horror/thriller recommendation video in February. Are you going to do one this year?
I actually don't mind Zombie books 😉 thanks for the recs. Zombieville sounds so interesting! I am leery of Survivor Song because I have only read one book by Paul Tremblay (Cabin at the end of the world) and I didn't like it.

Aww thanks. I wish I had planned something but I struggled to come up with enough books... next year for sure!
Your thumbnails crack me up lol. Yet more books to add to my ever-expanding wishlist!
Haha happy to entertain!

Happy to add your zombie tbr!
I loved Pariah by Bob Finger man and Autumn
by David Moody . I love zombie books.
I don't know that one... thanks for the rec
I would read Skin Food. I also watched a movie name warm bodies and it’s also a book by Isaac Marion. It’s about zombies.
Oh yes I should try that book at some point

Ooh fun. I might check those out next Christmas
Living Dead is one of my favorites and I really enjoyed Survivor Song! Both had such amazing characters.
Glad you enjoyed those two!
I really enjoy zombie books!! Zombieville sounds great! I have The Living Dead but haven’t read it yet (so big!) Afterlife with Archie was so much fun.
Yay! I'm glad you share my love of zombie books
I absolutely loved Survivor Song and will be getting The Living Dead this weekend.

I haven't read his zombie books (yet)!
There was an episode of Big Bang Theory where they argued whether mummies were zombies or not. Lol
Love that show!
I loved AFTERLIFE WITH ARCHIE! I thought it was great how the comic played everything straight instead of going for laughs. I enjoyed the same writer's CHILLING ADVENTURES OF SABRINA, too.

Thanks!
Did you recommend Survivor Song before? I downloaded it from the library Jan 24th, so I must have heard something about it from somewhere.
heh, I just found Afterlife with Archie. Didn't expect that. Will try it to see how it works on my new Kobo.
I reviewed it when it came out but that was the summer of 2020
@@TheShadesofOrange hm, someone else recently must have mentioned it; or it came up on a library recommendation.
Afterlife with Archie doesn't work on Kobo. Some squares cut off. I'll have to read it on my laptop. No biggie.
Have you read Quazi by Sergej Lukyanenko? That sounds like an interesting turn on Zombie Fiction as well.
Oh I haven't heard of that one
I might check out The Living Dead, and I will definitely be picking up Skin Food. I hadn't heard of the latter before, it sounds interesting, so thank you for that recommendation!
Happy to add to your tbr
Challenge accepted - I will give Zombieville a try. It helps that it is a novella :)
Woo hoo!
Great video, because it's a fresh set of recommendations for what can be a tired sub-genre. Since The Walking Dead show over-stayed its welcome (hot take??) I've moved on from Zombies 🧟♂️. But I would definitely give Living Dead and Survival Song a try.
Yeah I think the Walking Dead TV show burned out a lot of people. Glad I enticed you with a few books
Survivors Song I realllllly loved! It wasn't really a zombie book, to me it was the beautiful love btwn a mother and her child... and what said mother will do for that child!
Absolutely! There is so much heart in that book. It's kinda a fake zombie book haha
How is the character development with the living dead? It seems switching between many entirely different characters from around the world would stop any attachment to the characters? Was curious.
Hmm I would say the character development is good but not amazing. Characters get multiple chapters which helps
Okay, I am so tired of zombies, but Skin Food sounds like a must-read.
I know you often do a Valentine's Day horror/thriller recommendation video in February. Are you going to do one this year?
Awww no, I couldn't get enough recommendations together for anything this year. I'll work on one for next year if there is interest though!
Have you seen the GREAT Korean horror movie The Wailing? Amazing.
Oh no, but it sounds like I should!
I actually don't mind Zombie books 😉 thanks for the recs. Zombieville sounds so interesting! I am leery of Survivor Song because I have only read one book by Paul Tremblay (Cabin at the end of the world) and I didn't like it.
Glad you share my love of zombies. And yes I love Tremblay but he's not for everyone.
i love zombie stories
The Living Dead is perfect
Glad you enjoyed it
That has to be the least intimidating zombie on the thumbnail. You would starve!
Lol! Oh darn!
I thought you were linking the other zombie video, I see the playlist is that what you meant ?
Here's the original th-cam.com/video/XWJgM4qiV9Q/w-d-xo.html
@TheShadesofOrange - Booktube thank you 😊
It is not a zombie book, but I think Metro 2033 would fit in this list with its Dark Ones.
Ooo I'm intrigued
Youre beautiful, thanks for the recomendations, im writing something and I think i need to read more before continue
I luuuuuuuv Zombie fiction
Me too!
Skin food is not downloaded!
