I read my first zombie books this month. Night of the Living Trekkies and Dread Nation (you talked about this in an old video) and enjoyed them both! I think I might check out Apocalypse Z 🐈🧟♂️🧟♀️

@@casieblevins7253 Not YA. Some characters from his Joe Ledger and Fall of Night series that lead into Rot and Ruin show up in the Kagen series. 2 books out so far for Kagen, "Kagen the Damned" and "Son of a Poison Rose" the First book in the Joe Ledger series is a fun Zombie read as well.
The Undead Series is absolutely fantastic and set in the UK. I highly recommend it. Every book is great except for one and the newest is due out in October
One of my favorites is day by day Armageddon by J. L. Bourne fell in love with the series after i found the book in the underground 3 floor of a library that was built on top of Indian cemetery.
I cant believe I am not the only zombie/cat lover. My recommendations: Mountain Man The Reapers are the Angels. Monster Island. Morningstar Plague. Zombie Lake. Die Trying.
Jonathan Mayberry actually is an amazing writer. He wrote a series called rot and ruin which is a coming of age story 15 years into a zombie apocalypse and it’s so good.
I actually liked Cell, but it was also my first Stephen King book i ever read so... anyway, i would recommend the Rot and Ruin series by Jonathan Maberry. Its YA but it doesn't fall into the tropes of the genre. I would also recommend The Girl With All the Gifts. I love The Black Winter series by Darcy Coates (not technically zombies, but basically lol) but there is a romance that is central to the story so not sure it would be your type of book. Feed and World War Z are two zombie books on my tbr.
I'm amazed you didn't include the following series in your review, the audiobooks of each of these book series are brilliant! Zombie Fallout series by Mark Tufo (this one is part of a kind of multiverse thing where versions of the main character appear in different series, it's a really good series) Surviving The Evacuation (Mainly based in the UK, but also Ireland and France, I found it really enjoyable) Adrian's Undead Diary (I think this one began as fanfic years ago but developed into published works, really good but does get a bit preachy in the later stages) Mountain Man (This series is amazing, set at some point in the future, working class dude survives zompocalypse in Canada by living in mansion up on a mountain, ends up becoming a dipso and goes around smashing zombies with a baseball bat). The narrator on this one is R.C. Bray, he is amazing, anything I've heard him do has always been a pleasure to listen to.
Revival remains a favorite comic book series for me. It got a little long winded, the series probably could have cut a volume/volume and a half and it would have been more concise but regardless I still think very fondly of Revival, especially the earlier volumes.
If you could only take one Zombie book to a deserted island, which book, of all the books you can remember, would you take and very briefly why? The only zombie book I’ve read was World War Z.

The apocalypse happened, but for the main character it was a good thing. He fits into the new world much better than the old. Usual adventures happen, but then there’s a strange mutation in which the occasional zombie moves faster, seems smarter, can even plan ahead; and most worrying they can swim so islands are no longer safe. The book ended with the character finding footprints on his island and suggestions the zombie had been patiently watching the house from afar. I’d like to find out the author and see if s/he wrote any follow ups. I liked the idea that an apocalypse would have some folks breathing a sigh of relief (frankly, that’s how I felt when Covid shut things down). Any ideas on author, author please let me know.
I just read the first chapter. It’s not the one I was thinking of (not ringing any bells), but I really liked what I read so far. Thanks for mentioning it because I think I’m going to like this one.
