    One of the interesting interactions that is lost in translation is that Su-An uses very polite language with her father throughout the film until the last train scene where she drops all of the honorifics. Most families that are close don't speak with honorifics to each other. Su-An being extra polite demonstrates the distance between the two of them until their last scene together.

    • @technocracy90
      @technocracy90 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      An interesting point but I do not agree with it as a Korean. The girl's language was very polite and thoughtful, and her honorifics come from her good nature, not the distance between her and her father. If she used the language only because she didn't feel close to her father, it must have been obvious to every single Korean. Then why she suddenly dropped all the honorifics at the final scene? Because she was totally panicked, and her brain stopped working; honorifics are harder than non-honorifics.

    • @angelalee6105
      @angelalee6105 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree when your younger your told to use honorificd to your elders its considered really rude to talk to your parents without
      I agree when your panicked or angry most tend to skip it

    • @feFe1231
      @feFe1231 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@technocracy90 Yeah it's true using honorifics doesn't always mean you're not close to your parents but I think in this case it's used to show that they're not close to each other. It is also true children who aren't comfortable around their parents use honorifics, not just cuz they're trying to be polite.

    All of Us are Dead and Kingdom are the tv equivalents - equal in atmosphere and film quality - to Train to Busan. Both South Korean, Kingdom is set in the Joseon period (this show is set in the 16th century) and is like a SK fast zombie Game of Thrones.
    All of Us are Dead is set in a SK high school, but don't let that put you off - it's so much more than that (and I won't get into the themes because I don't want to spoil anything), and the production values are top notch. I love it so much, and I binge watched it over a weekend in January.
    Let's put it this way, AOUAD is the 4th most watched foreign language show on Netflix, after Squid Game and those Money Heist shows. It's so good!

    To be honest when your reacting everyone says they will save people and that’s fine. But when you are in the real situation your scared, and survival is your priority. You don’t know what to do. It’s difficult to make sane decisions. I understand the blue pants guy I would do anything to survive too because it’s either me or them and believe me they would be thinking the same thing. I am no superhero I am myself. But if I am in a situation where I can save others sure I will help out but when I am put in a situation where my survival is not 100% guaranteed I choose me.

    The really strong guy is in The Eternals as Gilgamesh.
    The old lady sacrificed herself to give the others more time to escape. Her sister saw her sacrifice then saw how selfish the others were acting and that pissed her off. Why did her sister sacrifice herself for people when they're so selfish, you know?
    Koreans tend to mind their own business and evert eye contact so when it initially happened, they were slow to act. Korean movies/shows are big on social commentary. You see the more educated, privileged people acting like asses while the homeless & working/middle class are more about the community because they need to work together to survive while the elite only care about themselves. You see that in the movie Parasite as well as shows like Squid Game.
    The bad guy is what the father would have turned into if he didn't change his ways. The father jumped from the back of the train so his daughter wouldn't see him "die".
    In reality, mob mentality does rule because most people are 🐑. It only takes one loudmouth (leader) to incite a crowd of scared people. Even if you were bit, you'd most likely be in self-denial like the villain and would try to stick to the group not admitting you're a risk. You don't know what you would do in a real circumstance. You'd be too scared to think rationally no matter what you say here. 😅
    As for people killing the zombies, it wouldn't be as easy because Korean has very strict gun laws so people don't have access to them. The ironic thing is that almost all men in Korea are trained about guns. Men in Korea have mandatory service where all Korean men have to serve approximately 18 months once they turn 18. These people were more worried about surviving themselves rather than killing zombies.
    I enjoyed your reaction. It's cool to see the different opinions of people of different cultures and age groups.

    I get the perspectives from both sides and the argument that human beings could be selfish since it's our instinct to survive, though I could never agree with the ideology of intentionally sacrificing others for our own survival, the thing is, y'all should let him finish his argument, you guys keep interrupting when he was tryna explain himself. . .

    A quartet of Hipsters are getting on The Train. Let's see how these dudes react to this emotional roller coaster ride on The Train Ride To Hell. Yep, I was hooked when the Deer got back up. I've been riding The Train since "Parasite" was in the theaters. TH-cam recommended "Train To Busan," based on my fondness for "subtitled movies." Kudos to the writer(s), director, actors, and especially the stunt performers for creating a Modern Classic.

    everyone hating on the COO being so selfish as if everyone is really choosing to be kind..think of COVID pandemic, just coughing alone makes everyone judge mental..or even just being Chinese makes everyone hate on you..what more on that situation where the newcomers moved from cart to to cart and to see a set of people covered with blood and those who fought zombies..I mean, as viewers, we know they weren’t infected but those on the train somehow got a point..just too much..when you no idea about how it really spreads and no other guidance..I also understand their fear..but yeah, this movie will question your humanity and how you will be at this time of crisis..

    For the arguing, blue pants is right. That CEO was an asshole but in reality he was also right for only looking out for himself, he just wanted to live. We sometimes need to judge people beforehand. To take in a group that could be infected puts everyone in that cart in danger. They also didn't really have the time to make a sane decision due to the situation.
    There is also no garanti that they will have the time to check each person before someone turns. To then shove them out to the next cart is just out of spite, it proves that the CEO was wrong.
    The CEO is also exactly what our MC dad almost is. The soon to be father is the person he should be for his daughter and so that big man becomes his role model, its the man he always wanted to be.
    That CEO is the worst part of us and at the end he says "My mom is waiting for me, no i'm scared" to show that he is just as much human as the rest of us.
