Apart from being a thoroughly excellent musician and vocalist, let's not forget that Steven Wilson is also an outstanding sound engineer as well. Just a force of nature and a natural talent.
During my lifelong love of music, and in my humble opinion, there have been three artists from whom I cannot single out a 'below par' piece of music.... The Beatles, Steely Dan and Steven Wilson..... So heartwarming to see you both enjoying this exceptional track. 👍👍👍👍. Cheers Bob..
As you guys may know or remember (despite all my decades of loving Genesis and Yes), I am a HUGE Porcupine Tree / Steven Wilson fan. He is pretty much my favorite artist -ever. As a result, I recently did a TH-cam Search for P'Tree / Steven Wilson Rarities, and you would not believe the treasure trove of songs that came up! Almost a 100 songs I'd never heard of. You have to listen to his 1996 album Signify (especially the track Dark Matter), but also Stupid Dream
What a great song. I’ve loved this one from the very first first listen back in 2011. It’s such a beautifully emotional track. And yes, that is Jordan Rudess…
Been dying for you two to get to this song. Steven Wilson is pure magic when it comes to songwriting. One of my absolute favorite artists. Thanks You Two! ~SG
I truly love and respect this guy.He is just a great composer! I think what draws me into everything he does is, he just knows when to place extremely subtle instrumentation throughout songs. And they just always feel so thought out and perfectly placed. Nick , i agree that he will be remembered and thought of as one of the best. As it pertains to just being a master of his art! Very cool song. Will be making it to my spotify playlist. Beautiful track! Thanks for this one! Take care my friends!
I have seriously got to delve more in to Steven Wilson, as I've only been introduced to him and his various projects in the past half year via various TH-cam reactors. This is absolutely gorgeous.
Check out Song of Unborn, The Raven That Refused to Sing, Veneno Para Las Hadas, King Ghost, Deform to Form a Star, and Moon Touches your Shoulder for a well rounded tour. You can dive deeper from there!
Steven is the Prog Wizard. The magic he brings to his music is truly enchanting. His subtle, yet sublime, remasters of so many prog albums has cast a spell on my ears, drawing me in to albums I haven't listened to in years. Vielen dank für diese reaktion! Bis dann!
SW live is like watching blu-ray.... Sonically and visually top notch.... I was so lucky to see him 2 times live and nothing can compare..... You'll be blown away.....
Yes there is a new Porcupine Tree album on the way this summer. There's also European and US tours to follow. European dates have already been announced. I love this song. I think it's one of the best SW has written, especially lyrically. The verse parts have always given me Joni Mitchell vibes.
Been following SW and PTree from almost the begining. Seen them several times, each time a powerful, yet sensitive at times music. Always worth a watch and a listen. Brilliant !
Nick and Lex, hope you enjoy all the shows you're planning on seeing. I have 4 concerts lined up between April 9 and May 7, Steve Hackett, Transatlantic, Riverside, and The Pineapple Thief. I'm also going to try to squeeze Little Feat into that time frame.
I love this! Thanks guys! I haven't heard anything from this guy that I haven't loved. I've been delving into Jethro Tull recently. Basically, going through all of the albums in order. I just finished the 70s ones. Anyway, I mention this because I found out Steven Wilson remixed the back catalogue of the Tull albums a few years ago. Stereo mixed and also includes bonus tracks, unreleased stuff. He did the same for YES, for King Crimson, Gentle Giant and some others. That says a lot about his talent and ear for things that he was asked to do that. I knew he had produced albums for other bands, including the Opeth albums "Blackwater Park", "Deliverance" and "Damnation".
Steven Wilson has some great song titles, doesn't he. Oh, and great songs as well. Though "Russia on Ice" (PT) might be more appropriate at the moment!
This album is where my Steven Wilson journey started and thus, by far, my personal favourite in regards to his output. I saw him on tour with Grace For Drowning in early 2012 and if I recall correctly, he had Guthrie Govan with him on the stage. Sadly, there were only a litle more than 100 people at the concert, but boy did Mr. Wilson and his band perform beautifully that evening ...
He had Guthrie Govan and Marco Minneman on drums (both from the Aristocrats as you might know) for about 4 years, I believe. PHENOMENAL PLAYERS OF THEIR RESPECTIVE INSTRUMENTS!!
One of my fav Wilson tracks. Thrilled I get to see PT in NYC. Lotta good shows in six month window : Neal Morse Band, Transatlantic, Steve Hackett, PT. Rundgren doing Beatles.
Great song - great album - only topped by The Raven That Refused To Sing with 7 epic songs being Luminol, The Holy Drinker and The Watchmaker my favourites. On the Grace For Drowning other great songs are Remainder The Black Dog and Raider II
I love this album. I really get a "70's Crimson" vibe from it, because I think this was recorded either shortly after or as he was finishing up re-mastering the early King Crimson catalog.
I assume you mean Guthrie Govan's solo on Drive Home. It's brilliant (and a very interesting fella). Sir Nicolas Beggs is a great bass/Chapman stick is a real showman. There are so many 'special P Tree, SWilson moments. It really is worth going back to some of the older albums. Stars Die, I always play at least twice a year!
Two words on any album or song let you know it is going to be great.....Steven Wilson. I love his work with Porcupine Tree the most but all of his work is quality stuff.
Yay, I am so glad to hear the shirt is comfortable! Grace for Drowning is a great album, but Insurgents is even better, and The Raven that Refused to Sing is his masterpiece. I can't wait till you hear Wilson do Luminol, Watchmaker, and Raider11.
Hi , just clicked into my history to find this again. Already watched but couldn't leave a comment. Ok, lets see how this goes. Thankyou for helping me to get through. This album is wonderful and I love this track. Steven Wilson's solo work is amazing. You should take a look at the music video for the studio version of "Pariah" It's breathtaking music. Very emotional. - Ok going to click "comment" & reload page to see if this stays. Thankyou again ! Byee X Jim
The Guitar in the background looks like a cyclops with a stache... can't unsee it now. Grace for drowning his Steven's best solo album imho. Love it from beginning to end.
I'm biased because for me Steven Wilson is the best living musician at the moment. Music to kneel down, which is no longer so easy for a 67 year old man.😉
Also - totally different front, you guys HAVE TO CHECK OUT Chris Squire's (Yes) 1975 solo Album - Fish Out of Water!!!!!!!!!! It is considered a "collectable" for Yes officianado's. But the first track is called Hold Out Your Hand, and there's another track called Lucky Seven which is also great. The band is Chris Squire, Bill Bruford (former Yes drummer), and the keyboard player is Patrick Moraz, who also played with King Crimson, and alot of the London Symphony Orchestra. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO A REACTION TO "HOLD OUT YOUR HAND". LUCKY SEVEN ALSO WHEN YOU CAN. I PROMISE YOU WON'T REGRET IT!!!!!!
I know how you feel Nick, I’m a musician myself and would love to be able to compose more of my own music (I’m fortunate enough to have a band I jam with around once a week at least) but it’s very difficult to find the time with work and life in general keeping me so busy. I was actually just thinking yesterday about how I want to take more time to play guitar (I started out on that but now play drums and bass in my band) and try to write some songs whenever I have spare time. However, even that can be difficult because I need to be in the right frame of mind to do it, if I try to force myself to play it just doesn’t work! Anyway, if you do ever record music, please post it on your channel or let us know somehow; I would be very excited to hear it! And for now, it’s fantastic to have your channel as it is. You guys have such a positive vibe and cover a lot of the music I love. Thanks so much for sharing your time and thoughts with all of us! Oh, and by the way, you can’t go wrong checking out any other song from this album, they’re all great! Take care and rock on 🤘🤘
Last P'Tree comment, btw. Rumor is that the second track to drop from the new upcoming Ptree album in June will come out on March 8th - just around the corner
¡Hola! Espero que anden bien. Les recomiendo, de este mismo álbum, la versión en vivo de Raider II, en el Teatro Metropolitano, 13 de abril del 2012, una verdadera joya.
Given what is going on in Ukraine please check out Steven Wilsons Song ‘Refuge’. With 100s of 1000s of refugees currently fleeing the fighting it is a great tribute to the Refugee.
This is my favorite from his solo work. Now that you've listened to it, check out the live version from Get All You Deserve. th-cam.com/video/DGXWir2y1hQ/w-d-xo.html
At last some more Porcupine Tree - I’ll be happy to see BIG BIG TRAIN - EAST COAST RACER an absolute masterpiece - but to understand you’ll need to understand that it’s about the team that built a world speed record breaking train. Steven Wilson at his most lyrical on this track.
Now I'm probably the minority here, and I do mean THE minority, like the only one who would think this but a couple of brief spots here sound like something Kerry Livgren would have written for Kansas late 70s or early 80s. I grew up on Kansas but I like SW and PT a little more I think. Cheers!
Hi, I have two songs, i want you to play and react to/ Gino Vanelli/ Brother to Brother/ Ambrosia/ Living on my own/ these bands are of Steely Dan caliber/ off the hook grooves! Thx Guy,s
I believe you have the Deluxe Edition of this album and "The Raven That Refused to Sing (And Other Stories)"? After you received them from your fans, I got the same copies at my fave store, I have yet to dive into them, though I know about 3 songs from each. I HIGHLY recommend seeing the "Videos" from Raven, you will really appreciate the "Animation" and care that went into them. You will definitely need a Kleenex for each of you, as the stories/visuals are very sad and melancholic. This was perfect music to play outloud under a starry sky, or on headphones in the dark, with only the lights from a stereo system. - One day Nick, we will both get to catch-up on the music, and _creating_ "Art". Thanks Paul, and N&L for another Wilson production!
Steven Wilson has no bad songs. They are all levels of good to amazing!
Apart from being a thoroughly excellent musician and vocalist, let's not forget that Steven Wilson is also an outstanding sound engineer as well. Just a force of nature and a natural talent.
Breaking News PT is releasing another song on March 8, 2022 from their new album called: 'Closure / Continuation'...
😀
Steven Wilson is one of the greatest musicians of the last 40 years in terms of writing and producing.

Luminol live from mexico city. Best modern classic ever. Will be played hundreds of years from now. Its that good.
What a great song. I’ve loved this one from the very first first listen back in 2011. It’s such a beautifully emotional track. And yes, that is Jordan Rudess…
To me this is the most beautiful song ever written.

I'm sure she'll appreciate that.
Quite simply.....beautiful ! Great reaction Nick and Lex ! Wow you two beautiful souls are going to be busy with all of the gigs you're going to!!
I love this! Thanks guys! I haven't heard anything from this guy that I haven't loved.

Looks like it may well be Jordan Rudess you were hearing. Wikipedia says he plays piano on this track.
My booklet of the CD as well :-)
A lot of guest artists on Grace. Even Tony Levin shows up on some tracks.
Great song - great album - only topped by The Raven That Refused To Sing with 7 epic songs being Luminol, The Holy Drinker and The Watchmaker my favourites. On the Grace For Drowning other great songs are Remainder The Black Dog and Raider II
Hand Cannot Erase is not only Steven's best solo album but one of the best I've heard in many a year.
@@dav147 Sorry, not for me ... I like the more proggish 2 albums before
I agree completely! I want to see them hear Luminol, Watchmaker and Raider11.
I love this album. I really get a "70's Crimson" vibe from it, because I think this was recorded either shortly after or as he was finishing up re-mastering the early King Crimson catalog.
Great choice guys. One of my favorite songs on Grace for Drowning.
Such a beautiful track one of my favourites from grace , so happy you both got to hear it !
SW/PT have so much depth and great songs to explore, going all the way back to Up The Downstairs (1993). Keep going!
If you haven't already... check out Steven's Drive Home. Definitely one of my favorite songs.... ever. Also one of my favorite guitar solo's.... ever.
True! This is a BEAUTIFUL song. You guys should check it out. The Guthrie solo is terrific. #nicknlexrequest
I assume you mean Guthrie Govan's solo on Drive Home. It's brilliant (and a very interesting fella). Sir Nicolas Beggs is a great bass/Chapman stick is a real showman. Vote here also for drive home
Love Steven. Another song of his is on my request list ... but when?! We’ll see. 🤔 Thanks, Paul. Great reaction. ✨🤪
It is Jordon on the piano. Yea!!!
Sorry Jordan.
Raider II next time? a 20 min plus Crimsonesque extravaganza!

Thumbs up for the t-shirts to start with! Great song too. SW is a genius.

The rehearsal video with Ninet at Royal Albert Hall is breathtakingly emotional too!
@@grahamhowes6904 True - I agree. I love both versions, but the studio version is stunning ! Cheers Graham !
Great song! Love his music, also he has a podcast with Tim Bowness called The Album Years a fascinating listen they are so knowledgeable.
The Guitar in the background looks like a cyclops with a stache... can't unsee it now.
Grace for drowning his Steven's best solo album imho. Love it from beginning to end.
Love that lead - Kinda Frampton on jazz
Fabulous song from a wonderful album ... in fact, on most days Grace for Drowning is my favourite album by anyone
Saw some wonderful concerts in Denver.
I'm biased because for me Steven Wilson is the best living musician at the moment. Music to kneel down, which is no longer so easy for a 67 year old man.😉

This just might be Steven Wilson's magnum opus.
Absolutely love this tune. Album takes getting used to but this was a stand out track.

You guys should react to Steven Wilson’s “Routine”video. If you haven’t already.
So tasty and immaculate, every note is nuanced to move your soul. Nice reaction, but no surprises here just rich appreciation. Thanks!
You should react to Drive Home from Steven Wilson.... the best song and the best solo ever!
I think it is Jordan Rudess on this.
I love Porcupine Tree but am not familiar with his solo stuff apart from the first album Insurgentes. But this was great! Thanks for reacting.
This album is great and The Raven .... is his masterpiece IMO
His first 4 are amazing. Give them all a try!
Sreve Wison was heavily influenced by a french prog rock band called Ange .
Wow 🎶💓🎶💓

Fantastic track, but not the best on the album. That's Raider 2, my favourite Steven Wilson track of all time. But it is 22 mins long.
