3:04 I am actually just about done tailoring that frock coat. Thanks for including my submission! I didn't quite have time to tailor it all before the submission deadline. Just finished the main shoulder seams last night, by hand, and I have three more stitches to add to finish it off, though I am questioning adding some padding in certain places to smoothen some edges, so I may wait. The morning trousers and vintage top-hat are in the post at the moment. I shall be sure to send in a photo of the full outfit for the next one!
I'm not a man or a menswear connoisseur, but I find these videos very soothing and informative. Love the detailing, the overall shape; how it's small, quantifiable factors that make the ensemble coalesce. It's the length of the vest, the height of the collar, the dimpled tie. And finally the silhouette. The man and suit are one, as the ancient knight was with his horse and armor, riding forth to observe, define and perhaps change the world. I'm 19 and I thought way younger than anybody else here but apparently, this is a children's channel. Not that I'm disappointed, on the contrary, it's refreshing to see guys from my generation not looking like K-Pop stars or homeless people.

QUESTION FOR VINTAGEBURSCHE: I love the look of a variety of classic menswear options, including white tie, morning wear tail coat ensembles, and stroller suits. No one wears such things in my area (Chicago) today. The purpose of formal dress codes was originally to help men feel more comfortable socially by knowing what to wear to different occasions. Dress codes allowed men to fit in and be dressed appropriately. Wearing classic menswear options today because I like the way they look, would not allow me to fit in or be dressed appropriately. I expect to stand out and draw attention to myself. What would you advise? My only thought is that executing the formal wear correctly must be essential. Otherwise, I will look like a clown. Thank you.
i urge you to continue this series you might be comfortable and think there are better videos to make but this is actually an original type of content that will help alot of men improve their outfits and learn details on how to do it instead!
Great video. I think it's especially cool to see that there are also women out there who embrace classic menswear. Honestly, I think it's a real shame that there aren't more women who try it. Although it might not seem like it sometimes, classic clothing really is for everyone. Gendered stereotypes and other societal expectations on what to wear shouldn't hold anyone back from putting together great, creative outfits.
Around a few month before this video I dived into suits and got several used. I stoped because of college lofe took my time... and my size from a 44 us to around a 50 to 52... hopefully in the next year im able to slow body change and able to invest in suits again

It's more a matter of how the waistcoat is cut. It's similar to buttoning the bottom button of a suit coat. Technically, if you really want to, you can, but suits made post-1920's will fit poorly and have weird creases if you choose to do so.
Challo. Was hältst du von deepti, carol christian poell und Paul harnden? Ich find die 'print' Sachen von PH irgendwie tacky wie ein Monogramm. Bei deepti und ccp gibt es wenige aber dafür sau nice Sachen, wie ich finde. Ich kenne mich nicht so sehr mit classic mens tailoring aus aber ich kenne es aus meiner bubble so, dass man immer experimentieren und expandieren soll (natürlich individuell, da man auch eine simple Garderobe / Uniform bevorzugen kann) aber hast du dich mal mit anderen Style-Richtungen auseinandergesetzt?

You don’t need to wear the bottom button of a vest unbuttoned. It’s a matter of taste, trends, and culture. Not a faux pas.
It's more a matter of how the waistcoat is cut. It's similar to buttoning the bottom button of a suit coat. Technically, if you really want to, you can, but suits made post-1920's will fit poorly and have weird creases if you choose to do so.
