Blessings, may I ask why according to Ephesians 4:11-13 that it says that he gave some Apostles, prophets, evangelist, pastors and teachers for the edifying of the body of Christ, and we see, and know that all the other gifts in the body of Christ are functioning for the edifying of it, why would the Apostles be excluded if they're for the work of the ministry? and to all come into the unity of faith?

He did give some Apostles. We look at the teachings and doctrines written in scriptures that came to us through the Apostles, especially Paul. Though they are not with us physically presently, their ministry through the Spirit continues throughout this church age.

Teach Brother Teach. Thank you very much. More need to read the Word and ask God for interpretation One day after I had read The God Father twice, 1984, Manchild in The Promise Land and other non- essential things lol. I heard a voice or had a thought (lol) "You have read what men write all your life even lies about your history. But you have not read God's Word." I read it as I would any other book from Genesis to Revelation (btw: It would be the second time I read the New Testament I read it once before in Juvenile Hall) I believe Revelation scared me so bad I kind of blocked it out my memory for a minute I was too young. I don't know it chapter and verse like some do. But, that part that I understand God gave me understanding because he spoke to me in a dream (Message: I was a Children and no matter what God said I was not listening to Him. I was lost.)I didn't get the dream then (I was in my 20''s duh!) But I get it the dream now.. The things I t understand I ask God to give me understanding but I also check the facts. I have seen false prophets & Pharisees (parasites) & Sedecee (seducers of the truth). Encourage all especially young BIC (Brothers In Christ) to pick up the Word & Put On The Armor of God Eph. 6:10-18. Let's see if we can get them to at least pull their pants up.... And that's no laughing matter to me. I look back on the Day in Photos from 30's 40's 50's ( I remember I was born) 60's 70's all picks showed no matter how poor a Negro was, he didn't go around showing his BC or his underwear. If his pants were torn & He was that poor he would get a patch rather than show... If you read all of this I thank you. Your time is a treasure one of God's great gifts. I thank you for this. God bless you BIC....btw I subscribed. Going to check my FB.

Ephesians 4:11 says: "And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers." Question: Aren't there still Evangelists, Teachers, Pastors and Prophets in the earth today? Of course there are because Jesus gave those gifts to the church during His ascension. He also gave some to be "Apostles" in that list. Apostles today AREN'T the Apostles of the Lamb (the original 12 Apostles hand picked by Jesus) but the role and function of the Apostle today is to "reinforce" and to "reaffirm" the FOUNDATION that has already been laid which is Jesus Christ.

  • @riceski

While I can't PROVE there are no longer or there are currently apostles I can say that; if we move forward with your premise then the power of the Lord Jesus has diminished. If Jesus could call Paul to be an apostle according to Christ's power then what stops him from doing more than this? The power grows or shrinks. What if Jesus wants to appoint more Apostles but our [ perhaps being led astray by wordy false teachers from Pauls time until today] lack of faith is keeping him from giving us mighty men of faith.

We have the written word of God , which perfects US. Which was written by the Apostles and Prophets.... So in actuality, the Apostles and Prophets live on.. through the word.. Why do some complicate the simplest of truths? We are to build upon the foundation, which was formed almost 2000 yrs ago, not add to it. Lets quit doing that which causes division and strife..

So If Jesus left us the comforter who is the HOLY SPIRIT to ALL believers why do we need prophets and apostles. The same Spirit will speak to you directly. The offices are CLOSED but the gifts are in full function through the Saints. Not just a select few but to all who pursue after the gifts. Paul said that he would rather for all prophesy. 1 Cor 14:5 I would like every one of you to speak in tongues, but I would rather have you prophesy. The one who prophesies is greater than the one who speaks in tongues, unless someone interprets, so that the church may be edified.

Where did the five fold ministry come from? Does scripture specifically say five fold ministry? Also the scripture in Ephesians that talk about the Apostle, Prophet, teacher, evangelist, Pastor that people refer to as the five fold ministry are these actually offices or gifts?

Scripture does not specifically say five fold ministry. He gave us apostles. Whether or not there are currently apostles (which I don't think so), he "has" given us Apostles, and we continue and will continue to benefit from their writings and ministry.

Hello brother. I think that I see what your teaching. You say that the office of a prophet does not exist. However, I'm am 50 years old now. In retrospect, from the age 13, men have come to me in God's house at diverse times throughout a 20 year period, none of them knew me personally, but prophesied to me all the "EXACT" same thing, saying that God's Spirit spoke to them and that He (The Lord) had called me to be a prophet. I disagreed with it at the first word that was delivered to me. However, the Holy Spirit began to widen me and confirm such a word by pouring out into me his purpose and plan for my life. When I began to devour the books of Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Danial and all of the minor prophets, my heart began to burn as if someone was pouring in to it liquid fire. As this began to happen to me, not long after, people began confirming the word Luke crazy stretched out over a 20 year period. I even had a lady come up to me that I never saw or new before in a church service. It was my first time in that particular church seeing that I was there for a service. She told me that the Lord has given her a word for me and she gave me a piece of paper and it had written on it Jeremiah chapter 1 verse 5. I almost hit the floor! I went home and wept, and wept, and wept. Confirmation after confirmation began pouring into my life. I'm 50 years old now. I'm active in cooperating with the ministry that God has called me into. so I'm just a little bit I don't want to say that im confused but I know God has called me as a prophet of the Lord. His Spirit has opened to me visions at times about His call upon my life. Showing it to me and He's confirmed it a thousand times over through the word of Prophecy. I heard God Spirit speaking to my heart on occasions through the years. I've seen some visions of God for my life for the future of myself in ministry. Would you mind expounding a little bit on what I'm conveying to you from my heart. I appreciate it. I have also written and published several "anointed" books, among many other untext things that I am doing in His grace. And I say that humbly. Thank-you. I'll look for your response. Amen

God has not stopped the office of Apostle. The office of apostle still exists today. The reason it is not regarded as true is because false teachers, liars, and pulpit pimps have cheapened all the offices God laid in the church in Ephesians. God makes holy apostle and he still is making holy apostles and God will allow us to see the true sent ones..

  • @silversparrow6656
    @silversparrow6656 2 ปีที่แล้ว

I do still believe that the offices in Ephesians 4 are "fivefold," even though "pastor-teacher" seems to be one. It can also be seen as two ministries hyphenated, rather than one, which would make it two ministers working together - like "Siamese twins" in ministry...
I have been a teacher in a home church for years, but I don't have the vast long-suffering, tact, and patient listening that our pastor has. Conversely, he doesn't have as extensive a doctrine as a teacher has.
The pastor exudes a certain love and compassion, and his heart is filled with a knowledge of the flock, so he's often the one who causes them to gather together, while the teacher is filled with the knowledge of the word, so he's the one who can feed them with sound doctrine. The teacher can shepherd and counsel, but not as well as a pastor; and the pastor can teach, but not to the extent of a teacher.
So they shore up what each other lacks, and become best friends in ministry, because the pastor loves to listen to good doctrine, and the teacher loves to teach (a match made in heaven!).
So they're joined at the hip (almost like Siamese twins), as my best friend in this world - other than Christ Himself - is the man who is the pastor of the church where I often teach.

So if the office of an apostle has ceased, that means ordination authority has ceased as well. The office of an apostle was to ordain bishops, elders, and deacons. This will also mean that bishops, elders, and deacons ministry has ceased as well. There is no biblical evidence that those who have the gift of an apostle have authority to operate as an apostle. If you are saying that the gift of apostleship has the ability to ordain other offices, you would now have to show in scripture how to identify those who have the gift of apostleship and make sure they are the only ones ordaining bishops, elders, and deacons.

on Paul being the last apostle: I think what he was doing in 1 Cor 15 is focusing on listing those who were witnesses of the resurrection, and not focusing on apostolic office. when he says he was last, he was listing of those he'd known of, he was the last one to witness the resurrected Lord. I corinthians 15 is listing apostles, then we have to conclude that there were over 500 apostles.
Later in 1 Thes. 2:6 the scripture says 'we as APOSTLES OF CHRIST''; the 'we' is the co-authors with Paul, Timothy and Syvanus, and according to this scripture, inspired by the Holy Spirit, these other men were recognized as apostles. They also came into this ministry AFTER Paul did. How could Paul be saying that he was the last of the Apostles, inferring that none would come after him, when two more are mentioned in scripture coming AFTER him?
I think you lay a good foundation in this teaching. I'm not being a nay sayer, about what you're saying. just trying to gather all facts in this subject. :)
the attempt to make the new testament writings the foundation of the apostles, rather than an in person work with a church they did seems a bit of a stretch to me. 9 of the 12 apostles of Jesus never had anything to do with writing any scripture whatsoever. Timothy was a co-author of 7 epistles, but Bartholomew penned nothing. The question of apostolic foundation, what it is, what it looks like has something to do with the personal work of the apostle with a local assembly the way Paul's did with Corinth. I think the giving of the New Testament scriptures was unique to the 1st century, but was not an issue of the apostolic ministry. Not all apostles wrote scripture; not all scripture was written by apostles.

and it is evident to me that you have put in some work to developing in this... i really appreciate that. most people on any side of it are merely regurgitating what they've heard from someone else without having gone to scripture. I think you have done a lot of original study, and that is very commendable, sir.

If you hold to the standard of acts 1:21-22 as a qualifier to be an apostle, then this disqualifies Paul. Stop preaching this, or please remove Paul's writings from your Bible as that would make him a false apostle.

My brother the bible never said you need to be an eye witness of the resurrection to be qualified to be an apostle, you are pointing out commonalities in the first apostles and using it to build a case. There is no scripture that proves the Lord made any of his ministries obsolete or discontinued any of them. 2) They are people today who do not believe in the bible, they think it is man written, but a modern day apostle would be still needed to bring these people into the faith. How ever a modern day apostles doctrine will agree with the biblical apostles.

And there is a five fold ministry, Paul knew exactly what he was saying when he listed the 5 ministries they are just main job descriptions, a pastor can teach like all ministers can teach, but teaching may not be his main function/focus. The pastor's main focuses may be preaching, counseling, keeping you in the faith, taking care of the flock from a more personal stand point. There is a different main focus for each of those ministers, they focus on building up different parts of the body of Christ but you will see an overlap of other functions within their ministry. God Bless

There are no more שליח today, nor they'll be anymore, a shliach (apostle) of YESHUA only existed or could be chosen by the only one, the Saviour, there are only twelve, when judas was taken out peter thought to himself to choose the replacement for judas, an apostle of YESHUA had to of lived during john the baptis through the resurrection, in my opinion and this is of mine, is that peter chosen apostle wasn't GOD'S choice for there is really no more mention of him, also an apostle had to be a jew because YESHUA'S ministry was only for the jews, until they denied HIM as Messiah then I Belive is when again as in the first time YESHUA choose himself all twelve apostles thru making the transition from peter to the jews HE chose The new apostle, the twelve Apostle Paul the Apostle of the Gentiles, Salvation is now for all who Belive in YESHUA .... Shalom.

I agree with you as well brother..I dont think that was God's choice..Paul was already selected frim the foundation of the world..And personally, I see signs in the old testament that prophesied Paul's appearance...
