Pastor Damon, I've been binging your old videos and honestly did not notice any awkward interjections. Even the "uhs" you mentioned in this live were not noticeable until you called attention to them! They likely sound worse to you than they do to your listeners. I understand your angst since I also suffer a bit from perfectionism but wanted to encourage you not to sweat the small stuff! You are bearing much good fruit for the Kingdom and that's what we're focused upon. God's wisdom shines through.
I immediately thought of this verse when you brought up the issue:
    2 Corinthians 11:6
Even if I am unskilled in speaking, I am not so in knowledge; indeed, in every way we have made this plain to you in all things.
So yes, practice may make better but also rejoice that you are in good company!

I remember being at Jude 3 conference in Atlanta a couple years ago and hearing a panelist talk about why should we listen to Paul, and unmarried man, about sexuality and marriage? Turns out her sister was lgbtq. I knew then people don’t have a problem with Paul until it disagrees with a moral dilemma in their personal lives.

      ‭Acts 15:12-17, 22-27, 35-36, 40-41 NKJV‬
[12] Then all the multitude kept silent and listened to Barnabas and Paul declaring how many miracles and wonders God had worked through them among the Gentiles. [13] And after they had become silent, James answered, saying, “Men and brethren, listen to me: [14] Simon has declared how God at the first visited the Gentiles to take out of them a people for His name. [15] And with this the words of the prophets agree, just as it is written: [16] ‘After this I will return And will rebuild the tabernacle of David, which has fallen down; I will rebuild its ruins, And I will set it up; [17] So that the rest of mankind may seek the Lord, Even all the Gentiles who are called by My name, Says the Lord who does all these things.’
[22] Then it pleased the apostles and elders, with the whole church, to send chosen men of their own company to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas, namely, Judas who was also named Barsabas, and Silas, leading men among the brethren. [23] They wrote this letter by them: The apostles, the elders, and the brethren, To the brethren who are of the Gentiles in Antioch, Syria, and Cilicia: Greetings. [24] Since we have heard that some who went out from us have troubled you with words, unsettling your souls, saying, “You must be circumcised and keep the law” -to whom we gave no such commandment- [25] it seemed good to us, being assembled with one accord, to send chosen men to you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul, [26] men who have risked their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. [27] We have therefore sent Judas and Silas, who will also report the same things by word of mouth.
[35] Paul and Barnabas also remained in Antioch, teaching and preaching the word of the Lord, with many others also. [36] Then after some days Paul said to Barnabas, “Let us now go back and visit our brethren in every city where we have preached the word of the Lord, and see how they are doing.”
[40] but Paul chose Silas and departed, being commended by the brethren to the grace of God. [41] And he went through Syria and Cilicia, strengthening the churches.

@@Sketch_Sesh How do you account for those who were chosen by God while still in the womb such as Jeremiah, Isaiah, and Jacob ( ROMANS 9:10-24)? And what about this revelation from Jesus:
      JOHN 6:37-39
All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out. For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. This is the will of the Father who sent Me, that of all He has given Me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up at the last day.
No, we do not function as mindless robots without the ability to exercise our will, but "free will" as we typically think of it is not a biblical concept. Paul was indeed chosen by Christ and responded in faith and obedience because Jesus made His reality indisputable to Paul, blinded him, revealed his apostolic calling, and gave him instructions on how he would be healed. All these events together compelled Paul to believe. This affirms the biblical revelation that even our faith is gifted from God and not independently given of ourselves (EPHESIANS 2:8-9). Many see salvation simply as God offering grace and we make a free will decision to accept it. But the bible repeatedly shows God compelling us by every means imaginable (divinely arranged circumstances and chastisements, the Gospel, His enlightening and guiding Word, His laborers, His Spirit) and even providing us with the ability to choose righteously (PHILIPPIANS 2:13).
By comparison, FREE will means that we are simply choosing of our own independent determination because we want God and naturally desire what is righteous and right. However, scripture is clear that given full free will NO ONE would seek God (ROMANS 3:11-12). If God left us to our "free will" then none could be saved. We are spiritually dead unless and until God interjects Himself into our lives and upon our minds and hearts to draw (compel), enlighten, inspire, convict, regenerate, indwell, and train us. This is the effect of saving grace in a person's life. We may have volition of will to make responsive choices but those choices are always influenced either for or against God's will based on what we are enslaved to. We are either enslaved to our flesh, the world's influence, or the devil or enslaved to Christ. We are not able to independently escape these influences.
Finally, consider this revelation from Jesus:
      JOHN 15:16
𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐌𝐞, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.
When we stand before Christ we will not boast of our "free will" that chose Him and His salvation but will toss our crowns in gratitude onto His feet at the revelation of how He so graciously redeemed, chose, saved, sanctified and kept us BY HIS GRACE. We might as well start giving Him His fully deserved glory now! ❤

I don't hate Paul. I think he's totally unconvincing. He didn't come around later. He was a CONTEMPORARY to Jesus. He would, as an observant Jew, been required to be in Jerusalem when Jesus was three weeks a year. And yet, Paul mentions that ZERO times. Are we to believe he didn't hear the angst of his brethren the Pharisees at this preacher out in the countryside? That he missed the temple table riot? That he didn't know about the crucifixion initiated by his brethren Pharisees? ALL of Jerusalem was talking about it, according to the disiples going to Emmaus, but somehow Paul slept through it? That's not even possible. And when eyes on Jesus would have been street cred for him, he doesn't mention ONE THING about it? Puh-leez. You have to be really willfully blind and deaf to believe that.

All three criticise and set aside the letter of the law from Moses, which was an amendment to the Torah given to Abraham, due to sin in Egypt, and advise the faith of Abraham instead.
Why do you believe he is unconvincing?

    • @WendieRenee
      @WendieRenee ปีที่แล้ว +4

The Holy Scriptures were not written for any individual's "street cred" but to reveal the inspired revelation of God about Himself and His salvation plan through Christ to sinful humanity. Everything from Genesis to Revelation supernaturally flows together to THAT end. The Gospels covered the eyewitness ministry and death of Jesus. Paul's ministry was specifically to share the Gospel and inspired New Covenant teachings to the Gentiles. His focus was on his own apostolic calling. Or do you find it difficult to fathom that the Holy Spirit actually has the wisdom to put His own canon together in the most comprehensive and effective manner? As the pastor stated in this live, your issue is truly with God Himself and willingly submitting to His Lordship, not to his messenger. ❤

@@WendieRenee The false teachings I find are in so-called Christianity, not the NT as it carries the truth, and I find the same doctrine spoken by Jesus, Paul and John.
I would say Paul is most misread, misunderstood deliberately or not, and so-called Christianity has divorced from its roots in the 2nd century, and that is clear in the epistles which are arguments to churches that have already changed the gospel.
My first Ytube video explains how doctrine of faith and have are so misread as to be exactly the opposite to what Paul means. I would not say Paul, Jesus or John, spoke about sinful himanity, but about sinful so-called believers calling them hypocrites. You see I am a believer who accepts Jesus as my Lord and Judge, as CofE KJV, but false teaching especially of Paul is rife but I find his teaching is truth.
So I ask, out of serious interest, why the person leaving this comment was not convinced by the apostle who wrote the gospel of salvation?

@@simonskinner1450, without exception, Paul is a false teacher. Take the issue of justification. In Romans 5:9, Paul writes: "Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him" (Romans 5:9 KJV). Yet Jesus commits to us a measure of justification that is very different from Paul. In Matthew 12:36-37, Jesus says: "But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned" (Matthew 12:36-37 KJV).
So, who's correct? You can not go beyond the writings of Paul as to what Paul claims about justification. With Jesus (Matthew 12:36-37), you can establish His words as truth from the beginning till the end, from Genesis to Revelation. Paul's words are presumptive. Jesus is truth.

@@notofthischurch2822 What almost everyone does not realise Romans 5-8 only concerns Baptism, the atonement is reconciliation into the church for sanctification, and later judgement.
The sanctification verses are in Romans 12-15. Paul does announce in Romans Jesus as our Judge in Romans 2:16, it appears that as this video is teaching Paul has always been misread.
Paul is taken as presumptive of salvation when he says "we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand", as misreaders want it to say they already have grace, but baptism has given them access only as they must live by faith.
I explain this to some degree in my last Ytube video #29 'Myths in so-called Christianity', it is the attempt to define faith in the NT as belief without good works, but faith has always required obedience as the OT.
The Reformation is all incorrect, even though the CofE that baptised me is Reformed, that does not stop me studying the KJV for truth and passing it on.
