Looking at the All-22 film of the game, one thing stands out. Goff threw to wide open receivers and backs all game. Darnold was having to throw pin point passes because the receivers were blanketed. Something needs to change on the routes to get more separation.
On that last drive with the 3rd and 4 I wish we would have treated it like we had to go for it. I knew Detroit would get a fg no matter what. 2 runs and we win the game
with multiple starters on defense who are under 1 year contracts do the Vikings have the cash to be buyers at the trade deadline and keep a few of these 1 year signed defensive players and Bynum, Meletus, Grenard, Van Ginkle, Cashman, Griffin and Gilmore
I love your Show Luke, but you are way way way too negative about this team. Yes, the Vikings lost to Detroit, but it was one loss. Most people had them sitting at 0-7 or 1-6 through seven games so to be where we are is a testament to the coaching staff. This team has proven they are contenders in the NFC and yes the Lions exposed them especially on defense, but I can guarantee you the only teams that will be able to beat the blitz the way it was done is the Lions and Packers. You look at how their schedule shapes up after this Rams game and the Vikings are entering a stretch of winnable games where they will be favored in every game. If they win the games they should the rest of the way, you are looking at an 11 win team and a playoff team. If they play at or near .500 you are looking at a 10 win team. This team is better than what anyone thought so enjoy the start they got off to and back off the negativity a little bit
The Vikes got hammered in the second quarter, then hammered right back and won the 2nd half. The Lions won the game, but not by much. It's too bad the Vikes missed the 2pt. It would have been really interesting to see what would have happened in overtime. That two-point stop may have been a game-saver.
Play action runs help offensive line protections. It also defines throws downfield (Sam Strength) Vikes don’t need to make massive changes but this change helps pass protection and leads to WR & TEs getting more open. Comment if you agree/disagree.
I know this is Heresy. But Harrison Smith my favorite all time safety seems to be a step late when he positions deep. Our safeties and LBers are elite. Move Harry up to mess with QBs and blitz.
This is my personal opinion so please no one get offended by it. To me TJ Hockensons hype is superceding his performance, at times I call him "hot potato Hockenson" because sometimes he treats the ball like the game "hot potato". I swear a few of his misses it seemed like he was knocking the ball away instead of trying to catch it. A lot of TH-cam Vikings channels and fans feel like and make it seem that his return is like the 2nd coming of Jesus, that the Vikings will have the most explosive dynamic offense in all of football because of just one player and a TE at that. Hockenson is good but I don't see him having the impact that will greatly improve the Vikings offense as to where they can score at will.
To me this game is a prime example of how all the betting on games affect outcome you can clearly see how the refs determine the flow of the games and it's a damn shame for the game and the players??! If you doubt what I say go back and watch the game it's obvious!!! This will not be fixed unless youTHE FANS START RAISING HELL !!? STOP FIXING GAMES GOODELL!!!???
