One of the many creative inspirations that my friends, brother, and I look up to ever since we knew he was just some cool local from Hawaii (just like us haha) through his early social media presence back in the days. To see Nainoa grow and travel out from this beautiful rock made me not only dream, but work towards that goal to have a similar creative outlook and "stoked" lifestyle. Love seeing locals like Nainoa making it big, in their own way, out in the world.
it's always super powerful to see and follow someone's progression, right? how much a life can change within a couple of year. guess he's a perfect example for that and inspired many of us getting into making videos too!

As always a great reaction/analysis video. It gives us creators the more in depth look into such a masterpiece of an edit. Love all those transitions used by naiona... even I find the song really annoying. Have you ever thought to do some cinematic travel videos again? Aren´t you insppired to keep pushing the travel video game? I know the reaction videos get more attention, but I´d love to go on a trip with someone like you for filming. Zum Beispiel über Ostern auf die Dolomiten wenn du bock hast? Guck doch mal auf meinem kanal vorbei, vlt könnte man mal was zusammen starten :)
Thanks a lot, man! really glad to hear that. And yeah certainly have the drive to make own stuff again. At the moment I focus on this to help growing the channel a little further cause this has massive benefits of course in terms of independence and getting new freelance jobs. Traveling though is not really my personal kind of thing. In fact I'm currently thinking of starting a new vlogging-type series, since right now I'm super passionate about cycling again (used to do that semi-professionally) and trying to train myself in top-condition to win a race. making cinematic videos around this as a series is what I'm thinking 😃

Mal wieder super Erklärung 👍 Nainoa Langer hab ich damals über sein Venedig Video bei beautiful destinations gefunden. Leider macht er nicht mehr so viel. Nach follow your Stoke hat er nochmal eine neue Videoserie raus gebracht(XPRNS), da fand ich das Hawaii Video super 👍
Der Typ ist der absolute Knaller! Ich glaube, momentan tourt und produziert er viele Videos für den DJ Illenium. Da fällt TH-cam dann einfach ein bisschen hinten runter 😉

impossible to tell, would be pure speculation. totally depends on how quickly you learn and how much time and effort you put into it and what level of eye or talent you already bring to the table.

I'm probably going to disagree with most people but... I liked it but it didn't blew my mind. I'll explain myelf:
Downsides:
-Probably because this is from november 2017 and since there was plenty of this kind of videos. Actually some locations are the same that "A taste of New York" but they do a better job with some resources (the super white station, the clock transitions, etc) which is from may 2017.
-The storytelling is kinda... weird (even though I'm probably missing something) even clumsy. And, as we know, story is King. I get the mother call, the put your heart in what you do, but if that's the case, you don't need 5 minutes and a half for that...
- I've got confused... some cuts are literally incredible and some are... weird at minimum. Example, at 0:47 (I'll use the timestamps in your video, not his) the figure from the side just dissapear in a really hard cut.
-In 6:37 some weird diagonal shadow goes across the frame even though he is in the middle of water. Could be a fishing rod but... hard totell since there's nothing that indicates it.
Upsides:
-Some transition ideas are just ridiculously good. The dark figure against the city at night and the luma fade into the actual shot, the transition between the 11 doors (the first three are windows, 14 in total).
-The 6:42 in which he is sitting still and people goes fast around him is just sick.
-The 7:00 transition between the drawing and the video,
-The 8:50 cities heads up idea is insane.
-The waterfall transition
you're totally right about many of these points! haha you almost did a better analysis of the video in this comment than I did in my entire video. thanks a lot for sharing your thoughts. after all as you say the video is already from 2017 and then again we never know how much or how little time there was for him to edit it. no video will ever be perfect and at one point in time it's just gotta be done and put out there, right? :P

copying will always happen and it's not something we can ever control, so the best thing is not to worry about it and rather see it as validation and appreciation that one is doing something right ;)

All these videos are more about technical proficiency than storytelling. And when you've seen a few, they all do the same. So what's the point? Cool, I get it, they have amazing lives, they travel a lot and know how to film and edit... But what do I get from this? This is all him, for show, for ego, and beyond the technicality of the epileptic editing, as a spectator, this is pretty empty.
In the end that's totally up for the viewer to decide. Not everyone likes the same flavor of ice cream? Is there a point in telling others that strawberry is just plain bad and chocolate is rhe real deal? You can always try, but it doesn't change the fact that there are people who enjoy this. Everyone's got their taste and based on the traction he's getting on his videos there are certainly enough 😜
@@FlorianLand I understand if you don't want to get in a debate about it, but the fact that a lot of people like it or dislike it doesn't make it better or worse. It's a flashy video with lots of action and very stylized editing, so it's fun to watch. And they show the epitome of what a lot of brands tell us we should look like, so it's attractive to a lot of people. There are lots of points we could objectively analyze, it's not all just down to taste, although it is also a big part.
I'm just saying that I'd much rather see a trend of popular filmmaking based on telling stories and having technicality serve the story (like Brandon Li does) instead of shorts where the editor and the filmmaker are just showing off every second while sponsored by the same 5 brands because, at the core, that's not storytelling, it's an ad. All these "influencers" deliberately want to sell you something but they don't openly tell you.
Anyway, beyond these being basically ads, we all have a laugh watching the parodies because we understand that the original videos are way over the top and trying too hard to be cool. And that makes them kind of a parody of our society in themselves.
Btw, I love these videos you're making. Thanks to you I'm finding filmmakers I didn't know and understanding tricks I would have missed.
