Hey guys! By the way, I did notice a few mistakes in what I said because I'm dumb lol. For one thing, the drawing of my friend in a tree is not, in fact, called "My Friend and Myrtle," but instead, "Sunlit Muse." (Which def sounds wayyyy better lol.)
I also mixed up the drawing of Fantine with "Self Portrait with Sunflowers" as to which one placed in the Congressional Art Competition and which is going to the fair. It's actually the other way around. Which isn't really that important to know, I just figured whoever is actually reading this description is probably bored and I'm just giving you something extra to read. You're welcome.

You did amazing Ma'am. You are a trooper. AP is annoyingly difficult everywhere. I'll give you that. I am a Senior in college, and classes here are easier that HS AP.

I'm currently in AP art studio and going through the process of deciding on submitting a 2D design or a drawing portfolio, but I don't have all the resources that others have . I don't have a computer or all the fancy materials. I have two questions. Does that matter? and for cartooning which one it the better pick from both portfolios? 2d design or drawing?
Hi I'm glad you asked this question! You absolutely do not need any fancy equipment for either portfolio. I'd say the main difference between the drawing portfolio and the 2D design portfolio is that the drawing portfolio mainly judges your "mark making" skills or in simpler terms, your technique. I think the drawing portfolio will judge your composition less, and your skill level in making things look realistic more. 2D design is much more about composition and where you place things, and being thoughtful about the design of it. So it really just depends on what you think is your strong suit, do you like to put in a lot of detail or so you think more about shape, positive and negative space, etc. For cartooning I would say 2D Design would be the better pick, especially if you really focus on the scene you're setting up. I'm not sure if breadth is a thing anymore because I know the format changed, but nevertheless I would suggest really working on some strong realistic pieces just to show you can do different styles. The AP graders like to see variety so just keep that in mind. Overall just go with your gut! I did take both portfolios so if you haven't already you can watch my drawing video to kind of see the difference. I hope this helped!
@@annavmtarts thank you a really appreciate and since kindergarten my dream has always been to be the creator of a famous cartoon. I will choose the 2D design portfolio since I was researching examples and this one students portfolio was a 12 page comic. This is most likely what im going to do, but with my very own idea, story, style, and everything my own. Thank you a really appreciate it.

Where do you go to college
I was going to college at the Community College in my hometown but now I'm considering going to art school online, maybe something like Academy of Art University. Also sorry it's taken so long to respond! I don't know why I didn't see a notification for this comment.
