    I think technically speaking you show proficient skills, but the concepts, and subjects are lacking in my opinion and are kind of expected and over done in my opinion like tumbler/pintrest-esque. but you definitley know your camera

    Thanks Stephanie! I am assisting one of my students to develop an AP art-photography portfolio, she's a junior right now and will probably look at this video and your links for inspiration and more guidance. I am very pleased with what you had to share. Thanks again.

    Overall, your 2d art portfolio was very strong! But I feel as if I were a college, I would want to see more conceptual pieces, or even a sustained investigation. Really hope I could guide some people wondering!

    I love all your photography! Thanks so much for making this video because it really helped me get an understanding of what the AP Graders are looking for.

    You're so lucky. My school only allows students that have taken traditional art classes (like painting and draw and design) to be qualified for AP studio art. Students that are doing digital art are not allowed.

    All of your pieces were beautiful!! I just wish you would have mentioned what principle of design each of your breadth photos were for. But this was still interesting to watch!

    Is it possible to have a mixture of photos and regular paintings/drawings?

    • @StephanieLopez
      @StephanieLopez  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes! i would do that for breadth + double check with your AP teacher to make sure it's ok

      Stephanie Lopez oh thank you SO MUCH! My teacher is a bit unsure because none, and I mean not a single one of her previous students have done painting/photography for their portfolios so I was a bit frazzled. I’m only going to include maybe one or two photos though.

    How do you place a piece of work on mattboard?

    • @StephanieLopez
      @StephanieLopez  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Becky Yellow my teacher matted all of our work for us so i’m actually not sure how to. i’m sure there’s a tutorial up on youtube though!

    • @swoods1227
      @swoods1227 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can use an ironing rod to iron on a wax paper to the back of the photo and then iron that on to the board. Then you can put it in the heating press for about a minute at 200°f. All of these things are all photography tools so if you don't have access to like, advance photography tools, then there are options with photo glue or mattting spray although ive never used those personally. Sorry if that was confusing and I'm not sure if that was beneficial at all but I'm sure there are videos on TH-cam that can show you how to easily mat pieces

    I love your photos definitely worthy of a 5. but you should definitely take of your sisters glasses just cause they are distracting in some of the photos

    Hi! I am a sophomore who are preparing for AP 12 portfolio, and I am so confused and having so much question if you are willing to answer them, that will be so helpful! Do we need to do specific size or all works the same size of 12 portfolios? Is there any kind of material that you recommend to try on portfolios? And, the less but not least...What can you do if you fell on this one? Thank U

    • @StephanieLopez
      @StephanieLopez  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hey! the pieces for the portfolio you send in don't have to all be the same size. there is a maximum size though, but i'm not sure what it is. i would check out the college board website: apcentral.collegeboard.org/courses/ap-studio-art-2-d-design/portfolio since my portfolio revolved around photography, i just used my school's printer and paper to print out the photos, so just make sure you're using a high quality printer and photo paper for the pictures you decide to print! if you fail the AP exam this year, you're only a sophomore so i think you can submit another portfolio again in your junior/senior year. i'm not 100% sure though so i'd talk to your teacher and ask them any other questions you have.

      @@StephanieLopez Thank you so much! That helps a lot, I really appreciate that, but the problem is that my art teacher won't be school for couple weeks, so now I am like totally on my own and I am so nervous about I because it really means a lot to me ,andI don't understand it that much besides that, the teacher didn't really give me enough information about it. So after I finish the 12 portfolio, should I sent it to somewhere or just the picture of it? By the way, I am actually an exchange student so things are kind of complicated for me lol.

    • @StephanieLopez
      @StephanieLopez  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      the portfolio isn't due until may so you have plenty of time! i think the college board sends your school the portfolio your pieces will be put in to be sent off for grading (at least that's what happened at my school), and then your school ships it off for you. if you have anymore questions regarding the exam, i'd talk to your teacher when they get back or ask the college board directly: pages.collegeboard.org/contact-us?navId=gf-contact
