      @@InJasonsGarage No disrespect. I'm just weary on buying the product and hope the reviews aren't bias. You can see how for the audience it seems like your getting paid to promote Armor Shield or get the product for free or discount. Does Armor Shield offer brand deals with TH-camrs?

      @@RyanRij I can understand the skepticism, but it is possible for someone to make review videos about products that they actually believe in. BTW, After I released this video, it rained on the vehicles and it was not as bad on the Jeep as I showed. I think I should have continued with the water hose test and not the squeeze bottle as the squeeze bottle changed the outcome. But, no biggie.

      Armor Shield has a 2 year warranty. Did you reach out to them? Environment makes a difference and any coating company that says otherwise is either selling a very unique product or is not being honest. Great example...the coating my the garage queen Corvette s as good as the day I applied it, months before the Jeep. However, the Jeep got weak after 2 years as it has never been inside a garage. I know that Michigan winters can sometimes be rough...I lived through over 40 of them. 😁

    Gotta step up your microfiber game. For really dirty, non-paint sensitive items 80/20 is the bare minimum. Anything that touches paint has to be 70/30 Korean Microfiber. 75/25 is ok...in a pinch. But again, ideally, and especially for regular maintenance, coating, buffing, or drying - 70/30 Korean made microfiber is where it's at for me.

    Here's what I noticed after using ceramic coatings on my car.
    The pros:
    - You do get a truly slick and shiny surface where the water will bead up and and mostly roll off on its own.
    - Almost no need to use windshield wipers during rain, more so at higher speeds as the water simply gets blown off the windshield with sheer wind speed.
    The cons:
    - If my car sits outside after a rainy day alongside other cars (for reference), as it dries out the water leaves noticeable dust spots on flatter areas where it gathered in beads, collected dust particles with it, and didn't roll off. Other cars which don't have ceramic coatings or waxes applied don't seem to have this issue after drying out in the sun.

    So it sounds like the claimed 2yrs held up just about on a daily driver if maintained/washed properly. Makes that it would last a bit longer on a weekend cruiser or garage kept vehicle though too since it’s not exposed to the outdoor elements as much. Torn between choosing AvalonKing or CQUARTZ UK 3.0! Not completely sure on Crystal Serum light evening though all 3 are consumer friendly. I like that CQuartz can be applied in any temp, can be applied outdoors if need be in the shade & is from reputable company. To be fair i did live in an apartment at the time so i couldnt wash my truck very often. It also sat outside during the winter where it never moved. I don't know about snow preserving ceramic coating, I believe that technically anything that touches a car service can wear a portion of it away, even on a microscopic level. Sometimes it is not the fault of the product, it is a result of the environment and the prep and application. I'm not putting any blame on you, or questioning your abilities, but sometimes it is a factor.
      They do have a warranty, as I mentioned. Did you reach out to them to see if they can help?

    Sure beats waxing every 6 months. I applied avalon coating on my garage queen 300zx 3 yrs ago and water still beads. But on a daily parked outside beading starts going away after 18 months. But on a tesla that's parked in garage every night it's been 2 yrs and warlter still beads. Never going back to waxing

    • @InJasonsGarage
      @InJasonsGarage  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I've been super happy with it over the years and haven't used anything else since. There's a LOT of factors that are just below the surface, no pun intended. Prep, driving habits, environment, etc. I also wonder if overall factory paint quality has a hand in it as well. 18 months seems about right for something exposed 100% of the time. My garage queen Z06 still has the original coat on it from 5 years ago that is still slick. No real reason for it to not do well under those circumstances, IMO.
      I haven't tested their new products yet as I haven't really needed to, but I just got a new vehicle and I want to try them out on it. As soon as it warms up a bit, I will give them a try and take you guys along for that ride.😎

    "Kinda sorta dropped the ball" or merely ran out of hair-style changes to highlight in the montage? By spending "90%" of it's life in the garage, what does that mean to the garage queen? Does she get out once a week? Once a month? Once a year? Or is Rapunzel locked in the tower perpetually & still a virgin? My Corvette isn't quite a daily driver, but I'm one of them dudes that believes if you have a nice car you should enjoy it thoroughly and frequently. Dings and entropy are fact of life, and I have no museums or relatives I plan on bequeathing my car to. I had a neighbor that had an old Ferrari. It was beautiful. Made sometime in the 1950's or 1960's, he started it up a few times a year, but he never drove it. It was probably worth $1.5M & it was too precious. And then he died. So for him that car was all potential enjoyment and no real enjoyment. I don't know what whatever relative inherited did with it, but I'm betting they sold it and similarly didn't enjoy it. Not my style. I bought some of those same Chemical Guys' towels because they were rated so highly on Amazon. They're okay. I don't think they're great. My biggest complaint is that edge finishing. That black fabric the edging is made from is not resistant to chemicals of nearly any kind. I used some to shiny up my exterior black plastic bits with some restorer goo (Back To Black or similar) and that black fabric bled black ink everywhere. Not a big deal, since my car's trim is black, except that they also bled black on everything else once they were primed to with restoration chemical. NOT GOOD. I'll try out those Avalon King towels. I've been using Rag Company towels, but I don't think they market their products properly and so was open to a competitor. When it comes to business practices, I'm petty that way. Thanks for the video. Excellent job as always. I'm not sure why you tested hydrophobic properties with water instead of peanut butter, though.

      "Hair style changes!" LOLOL Sometimes, I don't get to the barber and it gets a little crazy, or sometimes I just shave it off in the summer.😎
      I take the car out on weekends and nice days. I was using 90% as a slight exaggeration, but everyone's definition of vehicle enjoyment is different. Some enjoy beating the living daylights out of their car. Some enjoy theirs as a daily driver. Some never drive theirs and their definition of enjoyment is having it perfect. I am a bit of a combination of all three.😁
      Thanks for the info on the Chemical Guys towels. I didn't have that issue, maybe you got a bad batch?
      The Rag Company makes some GOOD stuff, I met them at SEMA a couple of years ago when they just had a tiny booth. Earlier this month, they had a large display and a lot of great product offerings.
      Oh...and I used up all of the peanut butter in the house on my toast.🤣

    Has anyone ever found that any ceramic coatings can help to prevent some stone chips? I know a PPF wrap is the best option but do ceramic coatings offer anything?

    • @InJasonsGarage
      @InJasonsGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      To a degree. It might protect against very small pebbles at a low rate of speed, but a paint protection film (PPF) does an MUCH better job of protecting a vehicle’s paintwork from rock chips. You can put a layer or two of Armor Shield IX on top of PPF, though.

      Yeah, I get that once in a while. That's the trouble with trying to make good videos, they get lumped in with dishonest ones if they are similar. If it sucked, I wouldn't use it on my cars, and I wouldn't make videos about it.
