People realise, don't they, that democratic and stable countries like Switzerland, the UK and Norway are NOT part of the EU? And that Ireland and Switzerland are NOT members of NATO?
If you have a war which ends where Crimea and parts of the Donbas are ceded to Russia, then the invasions by Russia in 1994 and 2022 will be seen to have succeeded. That aggression pays. If your neighbour has grabbed part of your back garden and then broke into your kitchen and conservatory, it would NOT be an acceptable end, after disussions with the neighbour and the Police, to allow him to keep the conservatory and part of the garden if he agrees to allow you to keep the rest of YOUR property. Today the people of Europe have a very good reason to be worried and concerned. When a country targets and kills innocent civilians with rockets missiles and artillery. Like Russia is still doing in Ukraine. And those 53 Ukrainian civilians killed while attending a memorial service. In the Kharkiv region and village of Hroza on October 11th 2023 comes to mind. Should Ukraine lose the war and Russia decides that it wants more territory than just Ukraine. Then other European countries should expect the same kind of treatment from Russia with their own civilian population. No doubt other European Nato countries are aware of this fact too. And they will do everything they can to give aid and help support the people of Ukraine. Obviously for Europe's safety and future too not just Ukraine.

Thank you Sir for your comment and information that I did not know about the Baltic States Poland and Finland. All wars are terrible and bad. I myself am a military veteran and served in the United States Navy on a Destroyer a warship with about 300 Officers and Sailors. And as recall the constant training for war is not only very demanding but sometimes even brutal. Like they say the more you sweat in training the less you will bleed in combat. And America's military Army Navy Airforce and Coast Guard practices those words of wisdom like it was some kind of a religion. America is always alert and ready for the next war. Because if you read your history just like clockwork there will always be another one. So God forbid Ukraine should lose the war. And going against a country the size of Russia without continued aid from America Great Britain and other Nato countries. Then Ukraine certainly could lose the war. Because the next war with American and British soldiers could be in Europe not Israel. After all the only country's that could stop Russia from further aggression and expansion of Europe is America and Great Britain. And we both have been down this road before with Europe. Along with our allies saving them twice in two world wars. With the last one World War II in 1945 having two million American soldiers in Europe. Not counting our troops from America's war with Japan. And at a cost of hundreds of thousands American lives lost. Then Great Britains two million British soldiers in Europe during World War II. And whose unforgettable killed and wounded was almost as great as America's losses. Are you reading this from Canada Australia France Poland New Zealand Norway and other European countries. I am very much aware of your countries part contribution and sacrifices you all made to help win World War II along with us Americans and the British. Of course today Germany and Japan are a great people with great country's of their own. They both are also today our friends and allies. As everyone knows the Russia and Ukraine war started in 2014 when Russia annexed Crimea. Then Russia wanted more territory and illegally invaded another free and democratic country Ukraine on February 24th 2022. Russia has already publicly stated that they want to start a new world order not just conquer Ukraine. To Ukraines credit they are only asking for our help not our blood or any of our soldiers. Also this business of standing by on the sidelines and not getting involved in a war with another country who is asking for our help. This is something that America did in World War I and World War II. And it would have been catastrophic for the world and America. If America did not enter the war when it did and not a second too soon. So let us hope like World War I and World War II. That this war does not repeat itself for a third time. Where America and Great Britain as members of Nato. Would again have its military and their soldiers fighting another war in Europe. Because Ukraine is losing the war to another larger much more powerful and aggressive foreign country being Russia. And whose ambitions is not just to conquer Ukraine. And America Great Britain and other European Nato countries just continue to give aid and support to the people of Ukraine. And Ukraine can save its own country. Which excluding many hardships and some set backs. With continued aid packages Ukraine has successfully been achieving on its own.

The fall of Putin(ism) is the not the fall of Russia. It's a prerequisite for the _rise_ of Russia. -- Necessary though not sufficient for the rise of Russia. And, to avoid misinterpretation, "rise of Russia" does not have to mean -- as Putin(ism) would have it -- invasion and/or forcible subjugation of Russia's "sphere of influence".

I don't think the average person in the west is as excited about the downfall of Russia as we are in watching Putin himself be destroyed for all of the destruction he has caused.
The Russians didn't start this war- Putin did as part of some personal vendetta he has with Ukrainisns.

The border should be where it was agreed upon when Ukraine gave up their nukes, with encouragement from the west. They were also given assurance of protection from the United States. They were duped into giving up their defense, for their nukes, when the fall of USSR happened in the 1990's.

The actual wording of the Budapest memorandum was that the signatories pledged not to use force against Ukraine, or the others who gave up nuclear weapons & that they would use their position at the UN to enforce this.
There was no guarantee of protection from an external threat.
Only Russia has broken this pledge, like it has broken every single pledge made in more than three centuries.

If you give in to blackmail once, it is absolutely certain that the blackmailer will repeat the blackmail - but only with higher stakes (greater threat).
Eventually one day this steadily increasing stakes leads to the blackmailed is fed up and doesn´t want to give in any longer. Then the blackmailer must carry out the threatened measure if he wants to continue playing the game that has worked so well for him up to that point.
Thus, if one wants to avoid the use of nuclear weapons, one must not give in to the slightest threat to use nuclear weapons. For by giving in, one encourages the threatener to make more and more new threats, because he succeeds each time.
Secondary effect: Every dictator, terrorist or religious leader who is at all possible, would immediately acquire nuclear weapons, because he can blackmail others with them. Thereupon further states would strive to procure nuclear weapons in order not to be blackmailable. And so on ...
At some point, all states would have nuclear weapons. - And all terrorist organizations would have nuclear weapons and all others who can afford them would have them, too.
Putin is waging a war of conquest and destruction under the protection of his nuclear weapons.
