- Are you a sucker for beautiful dishes but you just can’t stand seeing them just sit in a dark cabinet? Today I will show you six places in your home that you can use vintage stoneware or iron stone dishes and be able to see them out and displayed and bringing you joy.

I was a young bride in the 70s so all of this is from my era of housekeeping and colors I used...yes avacado green & harvest gold appliances!...I have the green & amber glassware even now!!! 😊
My first home had avocado appliances as well as the sinks and tubs. I remember being devastated when they finally needed to be replaced. My husband and i still threaten to replace all our new pieces with avocado green one day. 😉

I’ve started collecting the 70’s plates as well because it brings back fond memories of my beautiful mama we lost last April. The 70’s were my childhood years. I was so curious how it would look displaying plates on walls in other rooms, but it is absolutely beautiful so thank you for showing how that looks.
I have put them any and everywhere I can think of. I just love looking at them. They are quite addictive aren't they? 😉
Becky I was a teenager in the 70’s. I painted my bedroom bright yellow. I had floral curtains. My mother swore she would paint that room when I moved out. It’s still yellow. Lols
What a sweet story, she probably couldn’t bring herself to painting all those precious memories away.

I was married in the 70's and those were my colors, I have moved to more of a cottage theme, but your home brings back so many memories. My mother made that afghan and I still have it. I also have a dessert set of Taylor Smith Taylor, they were part of my grandmother's everyday set. Your home is exquisite!

Oh my, that afghan does take my breath away too. So bright and cheerful wherever you use it. I can't wait to see what Lily does with the treasures you are passing on to her. I think it is wonderful that y'all share similar tastes. I love all your ideas for plate displays. I keep my dining room table decorated also. It is close to the door we use to enter the house and if it wasn't decorated it would end up as a catch all table. But because it looks pretty, even my hubby refrains from setting anything down on it. 😃

My favorite plate display in your home is the vertically hung plates on the wall to the right of your hutch… so beautiful! BTW~ Your scrapbooks are absolutely beautiful & reflect creativity & most of all, your love for your precious family! P.S. Meeting your daughter was joy! I was blown away by her multiple gifts as an Artist, Designer (etc.), & more importantly her beautiful personality; who she is! Her house is absolutely beautiful as is her taste! I was touched by the gorgeous pieces that her father made for her & the pieces that her father & husband collaborated on together. The plates above the kitchen sink definitely are living there best lives there! I loved that subtle charming touch… stunning! (-Hope she keeps them there & hope she keeps her floral pieces right along with her newer pieces! It all works beautifully together!) More fun than seeing your daughter’s home was… meeting her! 💐

Love all your vintage dishes. I got married in the 70’s and had a lot of dishes with the bright flowers on them. Brings back beautiful memories. Love your decor and how different yours is compared to the others I watch that their homes are all white. 😊
My attention span just gives up on me with all the neutral content out there. They all have such beautiful homes but I feel like they all look the same. My soul needs all the colors.
The six little gold plates you are using in the kitchen corner as a riser for a creamer, are a set we purchased about 1974 from a Safeway grocery store each week with my groceries. Almost 50 years ago now! We were newly married and not much money, so we purchased a few pieces each week.
That is so interesting, why can't they still do this? I barely remember green stamps but that quickly died out. I would be collecting all the goodies.
I collected dishes that way to get many different sets...that was great to do and did not break the budget! Good memories!😊
That afghan sure brought back some memories ! I had forgotten about making those !! The flowers were done on a little loom wrapping the yarn and then crocheted together!! I was a teenager our neighbor and my mom did a couple of these !
I just missed the era where everyone knew how to crochet. I have always wanted to learn.
That Daisy/sunflower afghan is really pretty!

Finally found someone who loves dishes and displays them like me! I decorate my dining room every month with dishes. We have people over so table is always set. I collect transfer ware, Brown ironstone ( Hull) Fiestaware, ( bright colors) Homer Laughlin, and have other just to decorate table or shelves with. Love your home. It’s very cohesive. - watching from Lake Wales, Florida

Gosh, could not help noticing that you have 5.52K subscribers and your views, 5197. That is really great! I am one of your early regulars but was busy spring cleaning so could not view until today. Glad Summer enjoyed doing the video and still reads the comments. Beautiful afghan! Hobby Lobby has some disc style hangers that I used for all my State plates that I have in my stairwell and not a one has fallen! I used the same glue-backed disc on some Coca Cola trays and they all fell and gave me a heart attack in middle of night. The wire hangers have been the most universal and reliable for me.
Hi Diane! I know! So many new friends on the channel. I hope all the new people are as positive as you all. I know that the more channels grow not everyone is your friend you know! But so far so good. I will check out the disc shaped hangers at Hobby Lobby, always looking for a good reliable way to hang plates.
Your plates in the bathroom become more like flower tiles than plates so they are not weird to me..i like!😊

The one you glued to the candle holder is most likely ironstone. I consider the top of my hutch another shelf, so I decorate it too.
I think it is ironstone. It has some beautiful crazing in it.

Becky, I once own your dishware in the 80’s. I loved it. I think I gave it away in all my moving.
I remember them as a child in the 80's. That's why they are so nostalgic for me. I don't have anything of my mother's so little things like that just make me so happy to have in my home.

I know Kathy, I have been pricing them online and good grief. One plate with shipping is around 20.00 a plate. That’s why I am so excited to find them while thrifting.

The ones in the introduction….I sold those as a cashier at a Colonial/Big Star grocery store in 1976/77. You got a free piece with X amount spent on groceries. I won a set for selling so many pieces.

I have been visiting my youngest son and his wife who live in coastal Maine. It was a great visit including trips to thrift stores and antique malls. I had to keep to very tiny treasures to bring home in my carryon. One of the antique malls, 1A Relics in Ellsworth Maine was incredible!! Think the Winchester Mystery House meets the Antique RoadShow!! Over 12,000 sq ft over 3 floors with 125+ vendors.

I Love All your dishes . I collect the Stoneware that is Hearthside Prairie Flowers , The green glass and the Amber glass also. Also the Anchor Hocking that has green flowers. My kitchen is Avocado Green with all vintage metal Canister's and Bread box. I Love your different ideas for decorating. It gives me inspiration to display mine now. Thank you

I just love your dishes and the colors in your home are so perfect. It is all so cohesive and calming. I am also in love with the sunflower throw! I also have many dishes I use for decor in my home. I have collected a number of Currier and Ives plates to display and I love the blue and white. I adore flow blue too so have some of that in a curio. I have my eyes out now for some stoneware or ironstone pieces like you have in your home. I display some amber glass in the fall and even though I can't change my whole house, I think it would be perfect to find some of the pieces you have to put out in August until I get ready to put up my vintage Christmas decor. I can't wait to see what Lily thinks and does with her new pieces. Thank You so much!

Your straight in a line dishes can be put up like a zigzag layout from top to bottom. Use your other dishes and try it on the ground. You can put them closer together but from right to left because they are round it will fit more on this wall try it you might like it. ❣️if you don’t understand what I mend me a message👍🏼

You have to be careful with the metal plate holders! They can chip your plates! I couldn’t tell if yours had the plastic protective tubes on the end. Some come with them. I agree I don’t trust any stick-on type. LOVE the idea of mixing, layering plates with wicker! Love your kitchen counter vignettes! You’ve given me a new appreciation for that color scheme of dishes! Thx!

We never called this a blanket. My mother made this exact piece and she called it an afghan. I still have it.
I can see that with this particular design because it's so open. it would do a really good job of keeping you warm but it sure is pretty to look at. 😉
I recall that plate pattern. Stoneware is strong and always lasts. I loved the stoneware mugs of wildflowers from the 70s.

I love that you enjoy all the glassware and dishes. My sisters and I do as well. My mother loved amber colored glass and I do as well. I have not collected a lot of anything but love crystal and do have a lot of that. Crystal and silver is my love! Wishing I had a closet to put all of my things in but I do display in cabinets and hutches and on the sides shelves of my grandfather clock. I need to purge and share with my daughters and granddaughters but it's so hard to let go. They will get them someday I am sure.

The bedroom is almost identical to me I couldn't believe it but mine is glass top one long cabinet in which there is underlighting and glass shelves for display. Your father did a beautiful job on that bedroom set and the talent is amazing. How blessed you are with those craftsmen in your family.

Just found your video and love the way you decorate. I also collect the amber glass. started out with a candy dish my grandmother gave me, then it just grew from there. I usually put mine out in the fall, I like to switch out my dishes and collections.

I have nostalgic dishes, very similar to your dishes above your bed and in your bathroom. They were in my cupboard for many years (some I use) but thanks to your channel, I now have them hung around my house because they are definitely pieces of art and now my eyes are drawn to dishes when I'm out thrifting to add to my collection 😂 You have inspired me and I truly love seeing these plates hanging up now and making my heart happy 🤗🥰

Those metal plate hangers are notorious for damaging plates, so be careful when using those! I love vintage dishes, but stoneware is a little heavy for me. I still use my vintage Pfaltzgraff Yorktowne stoneware, however. I just try to deal with the weight. But I have some Corelle that I use for every day that are much lighter, lol! Your vintage dishes are awesome!

I've often wondered if the thrift stores and antique stores in England are full of much older items since England is so much older than the US.

My house is modern, (I mean as modern as a 20 something year old home can be) I just use warm colors, warm whites, lots of wooden pieces, lots of layering, and lots of textures. Hope this helps!❤️

I wish you were closer to me, I'm in East Tennessee & I would love to pass them to you. They are in a box getting ready to go to the thrift store. I am trying to purge alittle & I found a vintage Syracuse China set I love. Service of 6 with cup/saucers & serving bowl, 25 pcs for $12. Anyway it made my month.
